O impacto directo do traumatismo, a sua influência sobre o desenvolvimento psicoafectivo da criança e as estratégias de adaptação utilizadas são áreas nas quais se fazem sentir as consequências dos traumatismos. A resiliência é descrita como sendo um factor muito importante que determina a forma como a criança e a família reagem ao traumatismo. A autora analisa de uma forma mais sistemática os maus-tratos que se exercem sobre as crianças pequenas, no seio da família. Baseada na experiência clínica da Unidade da Primeira Infância, descreve alguns aspectos clínicos que vão desde as dificuldades do diagnóstico destas situações, até à sua transmissão transgeracional e finalmente as intervenções terapêuticas que protegem a criança e a ajudam a desenvolver os seus mecanismos de resiliência, face à violência.]]></p></abstract>

The direct impact of the trauma, its influence on development and the coping mechanisms are different levels of the consequences of the violence upon children. Resilience is described as a very important factor that determines how children and families react to traumas. Based on her clinical experience in Unidade da Primeira Infância, the author analyses more systematically the maltreatment inside the family. She describes some of diagnostic difficulties, the transgerational character of the situation and the therapeutic interventions that protect children and help them to develop their mechanisms of resiliency.]]></p></abstract>
