<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0870-82312003000100009&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0870-82312003000100009&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0870-82312003000100009&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[O presente trabalho resulta de um longo processo de investigação e elaboração no sentido de tentar organizar nos serviços existentes de cuidados de saúde primários um programa destinado a dar formação aos médicos de família, introduzindo a dimensão «saúde mental» nas consultas de rotina da gravidez e até ao fim do segundo ano de vida das crianças, com um mínimo de «perturbação» possível e uma eficácia demonstrável. Avalia-se a importância da formação para a modificação da práticas e atitudes dos médicos de família; em seguida avalia-se o impacto que esta formação em conjunto com a utilização na consulta de um instrumento (entrevistas semi-estruturadas), facilitador da abordagem dos aspectos afectivos e relacionais, tem nas mães e crianças pequenas; e finalmente avalia-se o impacto que a simples aplicação do instrumento teria. Os resultados apontam, de uma forma global, para a existência de efeitos relevantes da formação sobre as práticas dos médicos, mas sugerem igualmente que estes efeitos não se traduzem em grandes diferenças nas crianças e nas mães.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[This paper stems from an extensive research and elaboration process aimed at trying to organize a training program for family doctors through which mental health issues could be included in routine consultations for pregnancy and the first two years of life, with a minimum «disturbing» effect and a measurable efficacy. We analyze the importance of training in changing attitudes and beliefs of family doctors; second, we evaluate the impact of this training, associated with the application of an instrument (semi-structured interviews) on mothers and young children; and finally we evaluate the impact that the application of the instrument per se has. Results globally demonstrate relevant effects of training on doctors' practices, but those effects do not translate into significantly positive differences in children and mothers.]]></p></abstract>
