Através da utilização de instrumentos psicométricos pré-definidos e estandardizados é possível aceder a uma melhor compreensão dinâmica dos potenciais cognitivos e organização estrutural de personalidade, permitindo ainda uma análise de comportamentos, atitudes e reacções no setting da avaliação psicológica. Através da apresentação de um caso clínico de um rapaz de 4 anos, os autores pretendem mostrar a contribuição da Avaliação Psicológica para uma melhor definição da psicopatologia infantil, no quadro de uma equipa multidisciplinar. O Manuel foi enviado à Unidade da Primeira Infância do Departamento de Pedopsiquiatria do Hospital de Dona Estefânia pela educadora do seu Colégio, para realização de uma avaliação de desenvolvimento, por esta o considerar «sobredotado» mas com dificuldades relacionais e de integração grupal. A observação psicológica incluiu a Avaliação do desenvolvimento e projectiva da personalidade (Escala de Griffiths, C.A.T., e desenho temático). Será dado particular enfoque à avaliação projectiva. Os autores procuraram confirmar ou infirmar as hipóteses levantadas após a primeira avaliação diagnóstica, contribuindo para uma melhor clarificação do quadro clínico em questão, e orientação terapêutica, bem como demonstrar a especificidade do trabalho do Psicólogo numa Equipa de Saúde Mental Infantil.]]></p></abstract>

By using psychometrics pre-defined and standardized instruments, it is possible achieve a better understanding of the cognitive potential and self organization, allowing the analyse of the behave, attitudes and reactions in the psychological evaluation setting. Through the presentation of one clinical case about four years old boy, the authors pretend to show the contribution of the psychological evaluation for a better definition of the childhood psychopathology, in a multidisciplinary team.]]></p></abstract>
