</abstract>

The methodology design intended to replicate the methodology of the development of the original scale. As the original study, we asked 348 university students to answer in what extent did they experienced the Portuguese translation of the 60 emotions list from Zevon and Tellegen (1982), "during the past few day" and "during the pas few weeks", in a 5 point scale. The Portuguese version of the PANAS consists in a 20 emotions checklist with two sub scales, the positive affect and the negative affect. The psychometric data analyses resulted in a Portuguese version very similar to the original scale, sharing 13 items of the 20 from the American scale. All the original categories of emotion are represented in the Portuguese PANAS. Results indicate a good internal consistency reliability of the scale. Results indicate a good internal consistency α=.86 for the positive affect scale and α=.89 for the negative affect scale.
