RESUMO
O artigo sintetiza alguns contributos teóricos no âmbito do climatério. Pretende-se explicitar alguns conceitos fundamentais relacionados com o processo climatérico. Serão também apresentados alguns modelos explicativos, mostrando-se como esta etapa do ciclo vital tem sido científica e socialmente construídos. Finalmente, são apresentadas algumas pistas para investigação sobre uma temática.

ABSTRACT
This article focuses the theories about climateric. We intend to explain some concepts related to this process. We will present some explicative models, showing how this life span phase has been scientific and socially constructed. Finally, some suggestions will be given to develop further research in this area.
