Contudo, escrever sobre gays e lésbicas e família parece ser ainda mais raro, sobretudo se mergulharmos no campo da terapia familiar. Enquanto terapeutas familiares, preocupa-nos esta separação artificial entre o estudo da população gay e lésbica e o estudo da família, uma vez que a sua raiz parece assentar em estereótipos provenientes da cultura popular e académica de que os gays e lésbicas são pessoas desligadas das suas famílias de origem, pouco envolvidas na construção de um projecto conjugal ou familiar, ou mesmo anti-família. Assim, decidimos estudar o tema do coming out e das relações familiares, esperando que a reflexão sobre este tema traga algum contributo, aos níveis teórico e da prática clínica, para os terapeutas portugueses, em geral, e para os terapeutas familiares, em particular.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Writing about gays and lesbians in the context of portuguese psychology and psychiatry is not very usual. This is particulary clear if we consider the theme of gays and lesbians and family in the field of family therapy. As family therapists we are deeply concerned with this artificial separation between the study of gays and lesbians and the study of family, because it seems to have foundations in the stereotypes of popular and scientific culture that gays and lesbians are people disconnected from their family of origin, little envolved in a marital or a family project, or even anti-family. In this context, we decide to study the theme of the coming out and family relationships. We hope that our reflections bring some contribute, at the theoretical and clinical levels, to the portuguese therapists and particulary to family therapists.]]></p></abstract>

Contudo, escrever    sobre gays e l&eacute;sbicas e fam&iacute;lia parece ser ainda mais raro, sobretudo    se mergulharmos no campo da terapia familiar. Enquanto terapeutas familiares,    preocupa-nos esta separa&ccedil;&atilde;o artificial entre o estudo da popula&ccedil;&atilde;o    gay e l&eacute;sbica e o estudo da fam&iacute;lia, uma vez que a sua raiz parece    assentar em estere&oacute;tipos provenientes da cultura popular e acad&eacute;mica    de que os gays e l&eacute;sbicas s&atilde;o pessoas desligadas das suas fam&iacute;lias    de origem, pouco envolvidas na constru&ccedil;&atilde;o de um projecto conjugal    ou familiar, ou mesmo anti-fam&iacute;lia. </p>     <p align="justify">Assim, decidimos estudar o tema do <I>coming out </I>e das    rela&ccedil;&otilde;es familiares, esperando que a reflex&atilde;o sobre este    tema traga algum contributo, aos n&iacute;veis te&oacute;rico e da pr&aacute;tica    cl&iacute;nica, para os terapeutas portugueses, em geral, e para os terapeutas    familiares, em particular. </p>     <p align="justify"><I>Palavras-chave</I>: Gays e l&eacute;sbicas, <I>coming out</I>,    rela&ccedil;&otilde;es familiares. </p>      <p>&nbsp;</p>      ]]></body>
