Participaram 62 famílias nucleares, com crianças entre os 2 e os 5 anos, de estatuto socioeconómico médio e de duplo-rendimento. De modo a analisar os scripts de base segura utilizou-se as Narrativas de Representação da Vinculação em Adultos, aplicadas individualmente ao pai, tendo a mãe e o pai preenchido, de modo independente, um questionário sobre o envolvimento parental. Os resultados indicam que os pais possuem e acedem ao script de base segura em contextos onde este é elicitado; que participam mais nas atividades lúdicas, do que nas práticas; e que pais com valores mais elevados de script adulto/criança se encontram mais envolvidos nas atividades práticas, mesmo quando a idade da criança e as habilitações do pai são controladas.]]></p></abstract>

Sixty-two nuclear Portuguese families, with children between 2 and 5 years of age participated. Families were middle-class from a socioeconomical perspective, and both parents worked full time. In order to assess the secure-base script the Attachment Script Representation task was used individually with the father, and both mother and father independently reported on parental involvement. Results show that fathers access the secure-base script knowledge in contexts eliciting it; that fathers participate significantly more in play/leisure activities than in management/childcare. Finally, fathers with higher secure-base script scores in adult/child stories are more involved in management and childcare, even when child’s age and father’s education are controlled for.]]></p></abstract>

Finally, fathers with higher secure-base  script scores in adult/child stories are more involved in management and childcare, even when child&rsquo;s age and father&rsquo;s education are  controlled for.</p>     <p><b>Key words</b>: Secure base-script, Involvement, Care and play activities, Father.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p>Uma vis&atilde;o mais igualit&aacute;ria nas oportunidades de acesso ao mercado de trabalho, e na partilha do poder e responsabilidades na  fam&iacute;lia continua, na sociedade atual, a misturar-se com uma vis&atilde;o mais tradicional do homem como o pilar econ&oacute;mico e de  autoridade, e da mulher como esposa, respons&aacute;vel pelas tarefas dom&eacute;sticas e de cuidados &agrave; crian&ccedil;a (e.g., Torres et  al., 2018; Wall et al., 2016). Ao n&iacute;vel das pol&iacute;ticas da fam&iacute;lia e das cren&ccedil;as sobre a parentalidade tem-se, contudo,  verificado progressos interessantes, sendo comum a perce&ccedil;&atilde;o de que quando o pai n&atilde;o participa na educa&ccedil;&atilde;o e  cuidados aos filhos, isso ter&aacute; implica&ccedil;&otilde;es negativas para o bem-estar dos mesmos (e.g., Monteiro, Torres, &amp;  Salinas-Quiroz, in press; Wall et al., 2016).</p>     <p>O presente estudo visa contribuir para a compreens&atilde;o da parentalidade no masculino, centrando-se na perspetiva do pai, dado que a  distin&ccedil;&atilde;o tradicional entre cuidador prim&aacute;rio e secund&aacute;rio leva, muitas vezes, a que este seja exclu&iacute;do dos  estudos, ou que o seu papel seja analisado atrav&eacute;s da perspetiva materna (Cabrera, Volling, &amp; Barr, 2018). Por outro lado, &eacute;  importante reconhecer que o modo como o homem define e viv&ecirc;ncia a parentalidade &eacute; influenciado por m&uacute;ltiplos fatores e  n&iacute;veis. Entre outros autores (e.g., Lamb &amp; Tamis-Lemonda, 2004; Marsiglio, Amato, Day, &amp; Lamb, 2000; Palkovitz, 2002), Parke  (1996) identifica diferentes n&iacute;veis de determinantes do envolvimento paterno: individual, familiar, extrafamiliar e cultural. Considerando  o n&iacute;vel mais individual, visa-se explorar as rela&ccedil;&otilde;es entre a hist&oacute;ria do indiv&iacute;duo, em termos das suas  representa&ccedil;&otilde;es de vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o, e o seu envolvimento em atividades relacionadas com a crian&ccedil;a, e que de acordo  com a literatura t&ecirc;m impacto no desenvolvimento e bem-estar infantil e dos pr&oacute;prios adultos (e.g., Lamb, 2010a; Palkovitz, 2002).</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><i>Hist&oacute;ria do indiv&iacute;duo &ndash; Scripts de base segura</i></p>     <p>No contexto das intera&ccedil;&otilde;es di&aacute;dicas, reais e cont&iacute;nuas ao longo do tempo, entre a crian&ccedil;a e as figuras  parentais, esta vai construindo modelos internos din&acirc;micos das figuras de vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o e do <i>self</i>, que guiam o modo como  interpreta e prev&ecirc; os comportamentos esperados do outro, e em fun&ccedil;&atilde;o dos quais planeia as suas respostas presentes e futuras  (Bowlby, 1973). No &acirc;mbito da teoria da vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o, espera-se que estes modelos, formados nos primeiros anos de vida, passem a  operar ao n&iacute;vel do inconsciente, tornando-se relativamente est&aacute;veis com os anos. No entanto, tal n&atilde;o significa que devam ser  vistos como est&aacute;ticos, mas antes como din&acirc;micos, passiveis de revis&atilde;o e mudan&ccedil;a face a novas experi&ecirc;ncias reais  relevantes para a vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o (Bowlby, 1973, 1988; Waters, Merrick, Treboux, Crowell, &amp; Albersheim, 2000). Na idade adulta estas  representa&ccedil;&otilde;es (abstratas e generalizadas) operam como guia impl&iacute;cito no estabelecimento e funcionamento em novas  rela&ccedil;&otilde;es onde o fen&oacute;meno de base segura est&aacute; presente, nomeadamente, nas rela&ccedil;&otilde;es  rom&acirc;nticas/casal (adulto/adulto) e na parentalidade (adulto/crian&ccedil;a) (Bowlby, 1973, 1988; Bretherton &amp; Munholland, 2008; Main,  Kaplan, &amp; Cassidy, 1985). Ao n&iacute;vel da parentalidade, espera-se que estas representa&ccedil;&otilde;es sejam expressas no envolvimento  e qualidade dos comportamentos parentais, no contexto das intera&ccedil;&otilde;es com a crian&ccedil;a, nomeadamente, ao n&iacute;vel da  sensibilidade, responsividade e acessibilidade face aos sinais e comunica&ccedil;&otilde;es da mesma (e.g., Bowlby, 1988; Bretherton &amp;  Munholland, 2008; Coppola, Vaughn, Cassibba, &amp; Costantini, 2006; Main et al., 1985; van IJzendoorn, 1995).</p>     <p>No sentido de analisar a estrutura cognitiva destes modelos e compreender de que modo t&ecirc;m impacto ao n&iacute;vel dos comportamentos,  emo&ccedil;&otilde;es e cogni&ccedil;&otilde;es dos sujeitos, Waters e Rodrigues-Doolabh (2001) sugerem que a hist&oacute;ria das  intera&ccedil;&otilde;es de base segura &eacute; representada/organizada, na mem&oacute;ria, sob a forma de um <i>script</i> (para  informa&ccedil;&atilde;o mais detalhada ver Monteiro, Ver&iacute;ssimo, Silva, Branco, &amp; Santos, 2015; Vaughn et al., 2007; Waters &amp;  Waters, 2006). Na idade adulta, o conhecimento de tipo <i>script</i>, relativo a ter e/ou ser uma base segura, organiza-se do seguinte modo: (a)  intera&ccedil;&atilde;o construtiva entre os membros da d&iacute;ade (adulto/crian&ccedil;a ou adulto/adulto); (b) um obst&aacute;culo &agrave;  continua&ccedil;&atilde;o da intera&ccedil;&atilde;o; (c) um sinal de que &eacute; necess&aacute;ria ajuda; (d) dete&ccedil;&atilde;o do sinal  pelo parceiro; (e) oferta de ajuda efetiva; e a ajuda &eacute; sentida pelo recetor como reconfortante; (f) resolu&ccedil;&atilde;o e/ou regresso  &agrave; intera&ccedil;&atilde;o construtiva com o meio f&iacute;sico ou social (Waters &amp; Rodrigues-Doolabh, 2001). Diversos estudos confirmam  que, as representa&ccedil;&otilde;es relativas &agrave;s rela&ccedil;&otilde;es adulto/crian&ccedil;a e adulto/adulto se encontram organizadas  num <i>script</i> geral e abstrato para as m&atilde;es (e.g., Coppola et al., 2006; Ver&iacute;ssimo, Monteiro, Vaughn, Santos, &amp; Waters,  2005; Waters &amp; Rodrigues-Doohlab, 2001), e pais (e.g., Monteiro, Ver&iacute;ssimo, Vaughn, Santos, &amp; Bost, 2008). Espera-se, assim, que  os processos mentais variem, tal como os processos comportamentais, em fun&ccedil;&atilde;o de diferentes modelos internos (Main et al., 1985).</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><i>O envolvimento do pai</i></p>     <p>A an&aacute;lise do papel do pai e do seu envolvimento na vida da crian&ccedil;a dever&aacute; variar em fun&ccedil;&atilde;o do tipo de  atividades (e.g., suporte financeiro, cuidados, brincadeira, instru&ccedil;&atilde;o, disciplina), diferenciando-se assim contextos e tipos de  intera&ccedil;&atilde;o, evitando o erro de minimizar ou estereotipar o envolvimento dos cuidadores. Tal distin&ccedil;&atilde;o possibilita uma  an&aacute;lise mais espec&iacute;fica dos pap&eacute;is parentais, dos seus preditores e efeitos no desenvolvimento da crian&ccedil;a (e.g.,  Cabrera, Tamis-LeMonda, Bradley, Hofferth, &amp; Lamb, 2000; Parke, 2000) e do pr&oacute;prio adulto (Palkovitz, 2002).</p>     <p>A literatura que compara ambos os cuidadores tende a salientar as diferen&ccedil;as, descrevendo as intera&ccedil;&otilde;es  m&atilde;e/crian&ccedil;a como caracterizadas pelos cuidados e as dos pais pela brincadeira. Para al&eacute;m dos contextos, os estilos  comunicativos e de brincadeira tendem a ser descritos como distintos. Por exemplo, com as m&atilde;es a terem maior tend&ecirc;ncia a pegar nos  seus beb&eacute;s ao colo no decurso das rotinas de cuidados, e os pais a faz&ecirc;-lo quando solicitados ou enquanto brincam. As brincadeiras  das m&atilde;es s&atilde;o descritas como mais tranquilas e mediadas por objetos, e as dos pais como estimulantes, imprevis&iacute;veis,  desafiantes e de natureza mais f&iacute;sica, suportando uma explora&ccedil;&atilde;o ativa do ambiente f&iacute;sico e social. As  diferen&ccedil;as tendem a manter-se, mesmo quando os pais consideram que devem participar nos cuidados, contudo, s&atilde;o mais salientes numa  divis&atilde;o tradicional, entre homem/mulher, baseada no g&eacute;nero. Por&eacute;m, h&aacute; que evitar o preconceito do pai como menos  capaz, do que a m&atilde;e, para cuidar e ser sens&iacute;vel nas intera&ccedil;&otilde;es com a crian&ccedil;a (Lamb &amp; Lewis, 2010).</p>     <p>Bretherton, Lambert e Golby (2005), com base na an&aacute;lise de entrevistas realizadas a pais de crian&ccedil;as em idade  pr&eacute;-escolar, indicam que estes est&atilde;o bastante investidos e envolvidos com os seus filhos. Os cuidadores mencionam, de modo claro, a  proximidade emocional e a afetividade enquanto falam das rotinas de sono/deitar, de separa&ccedil;&otilde;es/reuni&otilde;es entre si e a  crian&ccedil;a, ou em situa&ccedil;&otilde;es de disciplina. A maioria refere a proximidade f&iacute;sica (e.g., a crian&ccedil;a sentar-se ao  seu colo, abra&ccedil;ar ou beij&aacute;-lo) e psicol&oacute;gica em momentos tranquilos de companheirismos, mais do que em momentos de  atividades conjuntas caracterizadas como ativas e en&eacute;rgicas. No estudo de Monteiro, Ver&iacute;ssimo et al. (2010) com fam&iacute;lias  portuguesas, a participa&ccedil;&atilde;o do pai nas atividades pr&aacute;ticas encontrava-se associada com a qualidade da rela&ccedil;&atilde;o  de vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o da crian&ccedil;a com o progenitor. Para as atividades l&uacute;dicas a associa&ccedil;&atilde;o foi, apenas,  marginalmente significativa. Sugere-se, com base na an&aacute;lise dos comportamentos observados, que uma maior participa&ccedil;&atilde;o nos  cuidados facilita a comunica&ccedil;&atilde;o harmoniosa entre os elementos da d&iacute;ade, as crian&ccedil;as aceitam sugest&otilde;es,  participam num dar e receber marcado por um tom emocional positivo. Associados &agrave; participa&ccedil;&atilde;o nos dois tipos de cuidados  estavam comportamentos relacionados com o manter a no&ccedil;&atilde;o da localiza&ccedil;&atilde;o do pai, e o regressar para junto deste quando  aborrecida ou a necessitar de ajuda. Estas rela&ccedil;&otilde;es s&atilde;o, ainda, caracterizadas pela satisfa&ccedil;&atilde;o da  crian&ccedil;a no contacto f&iacute;sico com o pai e pela capacidade deste a reconfortar, numa situa&ccedil;&atilde;o de afli&ccedil;&atilde;o ou  ansiedade, sendo marcadas por uma partilha afetiva entre ambos.</p>     <p>Apesar dos progressos identificados, estudos com fam&iacute;lias portuguesas indicam que as m&atilde;es se encontram mais envolvidas tanto nos  cuidados, como na brincadeira com os seus beb&eacute;s (e.g., Fuertes, Faria, Beeghly, &amp; Lopes-dos-Santos, 2016). Em fam&iacute;lias com  crian&ccedil;as em idade pr&eacute;-escolar (e.g., Monteiro, Fernandes, Torres, &amp; Santos, 2017; Monteiro, Ver&iacute;ssimo et al., 2010;  Torres, Ver&iacute;ssimo, Monteiro, Ribeiro, &amp; Santos, 2014), os resultados indicam a exist&ecirc;ncia de uma menor  participa&ccedil;&atilde;o relativa do pai nas atividades de cuidados (e.g., dar banho ou vestir) ou de gest&atilde;o (e.g., comprar roupas),  enquanto na brincadeira (e.g., fazer jogos de tabuleiro ou brincadeiras com caracter&iacute;sticas mais f&iacute;sicas), lazer (e.g., ida ao  parque), ou ensino/disciplina (ensinar compet&ecirc;ncias ou estabelecer regras) h&aacute; uma participa&ccedil;&atilde;o tendencialmente  igualit&aacute;ria (com particular sali&ecirc;ncia para a brincadeira). Sim&otilde;es, Leal e Mar&ocirc;co (2010) verificaram, numa amostra com  crian&ccedil;as entre os 5 e os 9 anos, que os pais se percecionavam como envolvidos nos cuidados aos filhos, sendo pouco saliente a  participa&ccedil;&atilde;o na disciplina. Embora se descrevessem como dispon&iacute;veis, os pais indicavam estar pouco presentes fisicamente em  determinadas atividades di&aacute;rias, resultado das dificuldades de concilia&ccedil;&atilde;o com o trabalho. Em termos relativos, as  m&atilde;es continuam a passar uma percentagem de tempo mais elevada como cuidadoras prim&aacute;rias, comparativamente aos pais.</p>     <p>Os recursos e oportunidades socioecon&oacute;micas t&ecirc;m impacto no tipo e grau de envolvimento do pai; no presente estudo analisamos o  papel das habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es liter&aacute;rias. Em amostras portuguesas verificou-se que pais com habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es mais  elevadas participavam mais nas atividades de cuidados (e.g., Monteiro, Ver&iacute;ssimo et al., 2010), de gest&atilde;o (e.g., Monteiro,  Fernandes et al., 2010), ensino/disciplina (e.g., Torres et al., 2014) e brincadeira/lazer (e.g., Monteiro et al., 2017). Sugere-se que estes  pais possuem mais recursos, compet&ecirc;ncias e informa&ccedil;&atilde;o sobre as necessidades e caracter&iacute;sticas desenvolvimentais dos  filhos, sentindo-se deste modo seguros e motivados a cuidar e interagir com eles (e.g., Bailey, 1994; Cabrera, Shannon, &amp; Tamis-LeMonda,  2007). Estes pais poder&atilde;o, ainda, possuir cren&ccedil;as sobre os pap&eacute;is de g&eacute;nero mais igualit&aacute;rias, promovendo  assim a sua participa&ccedil;&atilde;o, nomeadamente em dom&iacute;nios tradicionalmente associados &agrave; m&atilde;e (e.g., Jacobs &amp;  Kelley, 2006). Contudo, outros trabalhos n&atilde;o reportam associa&ccedil;&otilde;es entre as habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es dos pais e seu  envolvimento (e.g., Afonso, Ver&iacute;ssimo, Fernandes, Borges, &amp; Monteiro, 2011; Sim&otilde;es et al., 2010).</p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>Embora os resultados nem sempre sejam consistentes, o sexo e a idade da crian&ccedil;a s&atilde;o descritas como vari&aacute;veis que  influenciam a variabilidade no tipo e grau de envolvimento paterno. Relativamente ao sexo, este parece ter atualmente menor impacto no  envolvimento do pai, comparativamente com d&eacute;cadas anteriores (Pleck &amp; Masciadrelli, 2004). No entanto, quando s&atilde;o reportadas  diferen&ccedil;as s&atilde;o-no em favor dos rapazes, com os pais a passarem mais tempo e estarem mais envolvidos com os seus filhos em contextos  de cuidados e/ou brincadeira (e.g., Lima, 2005; Monteiro, Fernandes et al., 2010; NICHD, 2000; Yeung, Sandberg, Davis-Kean, &amp; Hofferth,  2001). No que concerne &agrave; idade, os anos pr&eacute;-escolares trazem importantes ganhos em termos do desenvolvimento infantil (ao  n&iacute;vel lingu&iacute;stico, cognitivo e socio-emocional) tornando a crian&ccedil;a mais aut&oacute;noma, competente e atrativa enquanto  parceiro de intera&ccedil;&atilde;o. Este per&iacute;odo, segundo diversos autores, representa um pico nos n&iacute;veis de  intera&ccedil;&otilde;es pai/crian&ccedil;a, em particular, no contexto de brincadeira (e.g., Lamb &amp; Lewis, 2010; Parke, 1996). Modo geral,  estudos com amostras portuguesas n&atilde;o tendem a reportar associa&ccedil;&otilde;es com a idade das crian&ccedil;as (e.g., Lima, 2005;  Monteiro, Fernandes et al., 2010; Monteiro, Ver&iacute;ssimo et al., 2010). Contudo, Torres et al. (2014) verificaram que quanto mais velhas as  crian&ccedil;as, mais envolvidos se encontram os pais nas atividades de cuidados indiretos (gest&atilde;o) e de brincadeira.</p>     <p>O presente estudo tem como principal objetivo analisar as rela&ccedil;&otilde;es entre as representa&ccedil;&otilde;es de  vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o do pai, organizadas num script de base segura, e o seu envolvimento (relativo &agrave; m&atilde;e), analisado enquanto  participa&ccedil;&atilde;o nas atividades pr&aacute;ticas e l&uacute;dicas. Explora-se, se ser&aacute; o script de base segura global, ou o  conhecimento referente &agrave;s rela&ccedil;&otilde;es adulto/crian&ccedil;a que estar&aacute; associado a um maior envolvimento do pai. Por  outro lado, espera-se que este possa ter mais impacto na participa&ccedil;&atilde;o dos pais nas atividades pr&aacute;ticas, do que nas  l&uacute;dicas, dado que cultural e socialmente a defini&ccedil;&atilde;o do papel de pai tende a ser menos clara, do que o de m&atilde;e,  particularmente no que se refere aos cuidados &agrave; crian&ccedil;a (Peitz, Fthenakis, &amp; Kalick, 2001). Dado que as  habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es liter&aacute;rias dos cuidadores podem ter impacto no seu envolvimento estas s&atilde;o controladas nas  an&aacute;lises, assim como a idade e sexo da crian&ccedil;a.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><b>M&eacute;todo</b></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><i>Participantes</i></p>     <p>Participaram no estudo 62 fam&iacute;lias nucleares portuguesas (m&atilde;e, pai, crian&ccedil;a-alvo). Os pais tinham idades compreendidas  entre os 28 e os 63 anos (<i>M</i>=37.30, <i>DP</i>=6.05), e as suas habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es liter&aacute;rias variavam entre os 7 e os 23  anos (<i>M</i>=14.57, <i>DP</i>=3.08). Relativamente &agrave;s m&atilde;es as suas idades encontravam-se entre os 24 e os 50 anos  (<i>M</i>=34.90, <i>DP</i>=4.50), e as suas habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es entre os 7 e os 23 anos de escolaridade (<i>M</i>=15.39, <i>DP</i>=3.19).  Ambos trabalhavam a tempo inteiro. As crian&ccedil;as tinham idades compreendidas entre os 2 e os 5 anos (<i>M</i><sub>meses</sub>=34.63,  <i>DP</i>=7.07), sendo 34 do sexo masculino, e todas frequentavam Creche/Jardim-de-Inf&acirc;ncia. As fam&iacute;lias pertenciam a um  n&iacute;vel socioecon&oacute;mico m&eacute;dio, sendo oriundas do Distrito de Lisboa.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><i>Procedimento/instrumentos</i></p>     <p>O estudo foi realizado de acordo com os padr&otilde;es &eacute;ticos da <i>American Psychological Association</i>, e aprovado pela  comiss&atilde;o de &eacute;tica do ISPA &ndash; Instituto Universit&aacute;rio, estando integrado num projeto mais amplo sobre o desenvolvimento  s&oacute;cio-emocional nos primeiros anos de vida. Os pais foram recrutados atrav&eacute;s dos jardins-de-inf&acirc;ncia que as crian&ccedil;as  frequentavam (uma crian&ccedil;a por fam&iacute;lia), tendo sido informados dos principais objetivos do projeto e assinado um consentimento  informado, antes de qualquer recolha de dados.</p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>Para 76% dos participantes as narrativas de vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o foram recolhidas no contexto de uma visita a casa, combinada com o  objetivo de observar as intera&ccedil;&otilde;es entre a crian&ccedil;a e o cuidador (ver Monteiro &amp; Ver&iacute;ssimo, 2010). Foi solicitado  ao pai que realizasse a tarefa com um dos observadores, enquanto o outro brincava com a crian&ccedil;a numa divis&atilde;o adjacente. Para 24%  dos participantes a tarefa foi realizada em contexto escolar, numa sala tranquila e adequada para o prop&oacute;sito, estando apenas presente o  pai e um assistente de investiga&ccedil;&atilde;o. Esta tarefa foi gravada (&aacute;udio) e posteriormente transcrita para cota&ccedil;&atilde;o.  Os question&aacute;rios foram enviados para casa, em momentos distintos (50% primeiro para as m&atilde;es), e solicitado aos cuidadores que os  preenchessem de modo independente.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><i>Script de base-segura</i></p>     <p>As <i>Narrativas de Representa&ccedil;&atilde;o da Vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o em Adultos</i> (Waters &amp; Rodrigues-Doolabh, 2004, manual  n&atilde;o publicado) &eacute; um instrumento constitu&iacute;do por quatro grupos de palavras sugestivas criadas com o objetivo de guiar a  produ&ccedil;&atilde;o de narrativas relacionadas com cen&aacute;rios importantes para a vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o e, deste modo, analisar o  conhecimento e acesso ao <i>script</i> de base segura de adultos, em contextos de rotina e ansiog&eacute;nicos (Waters &amp; Rodrigues-Doolabh,  2001). Os dois primeiros, &ldquo;A manh&atilde; do beb&eacute;&rdquo; e &ldquo;No consult&oacute;rio m&eacute;dico&rdquo;, referem-se &agrave;s  intera&ccedil;&otilde;es adulto/crian&ccedil;a (neste estudo pai/crian&ccedil;a), enquanto que &ldquo;O acampamento da Joana e do Pedro&rdquo; e  &ldquo;O acidente da Susana&rdquo; referem-se &agrave;s intera&ccedil;&otilde;es adulto/adulto. As palavras sugestivas apresentadas em cada  hist&oacute;ria d&atilde;o apenas um poss&iacute;vel enquadramento para a elabora&ccedil;&atilde;o da narrativa, assim o mesmo conjunto pode  desencadear diversas hist&oacute;rias, igualmente bem elaboradas, em torno do <i>script</i> de base segura (Waters &amp; Waters, 2006). Para cada  hist&oacute;ria as palavras apresentadas est&atilde;o organizadas em tr&ecirc;s colunas: na primeira, as palavras apresentadas sugerem um  poss&iacute;vel cen&aacute;rio e os atores iniciais; na segunda alguns conte&uacute;dos e atividades e na &uacute;ltima uma poss&iacute;vel  conclus&atilde;o para a hist&oacute;ria. Foi pedido aos pais que lessem cada coluna de cima para baixo e da esquerda para a direita, de modo a  terem uma ideia acerca de uma poss&iacute;vel hist&oacute;ria a contar, sendo, no entanto, os pais livres de utilizarem as palavras como  entendessem. Foram, ainda, informados que as hist&oacute;rias seriam gravadas e que, se assim o entendessem, poderiam parar de contar a  hist&oacute;ria e reinici&aacute;-la. &Agrave; medida que os conjuntos de palavras foram sendo apresentados, um por um, o investigador  identificava o tema da hist&oacute;ria e se as personagens eram o pai e crian&ccedil;a, ou dois adultos. Estes foram apresentados em  sequ&ecirc;ncias diferentes, de modo a controlar poss&iacute;veis efeitos de ordem. As hist&oacute;rias relativas &agrave;  intera&ccedil;&atilde;o adulto/crian&ccedil;a foram sempre apresentadas como um bloco e as referentes aos adultos como outro bloco. Na sua  maioria os pais realizaram a tarefa em cerca de 20 minutos.</p>     <p>Ap&oacute;s a transcri&ccedil;&atilde;o das narrativas estas foram cotadas numa escala de 7 pontos, indicando a extens&atilde;o em que a  narrativa se encontrava organizada em torno do <i>script</i> de base segura, e a sua riqueza/detalhe relativa &agrave; rela&ccedil;&atilde;o  entre as personagens. Um valor global sintetiza tanto a presen&ccedil;a, como a qualidade do <i>script</i> para cada uma das narrativas. Os  valores inferiores a 4 indicam a aus&ecirc;ncia geral do <i>script</i> de base segura. Os valores mais baixos (1- 2) s&atilde;o reservados para  hist&oacute;rias em que, n&atilde;o s&oacute; h&aacute; aus&ecirc;ncia do <i>script</i> como, tamb&eacute;m, se verifica a exist&ecirc;ncia de  conte&uacute;dos bizarros. Os valores de 4 (indicador m&iacute;nimo) ou acima na escala de 7 pontos, indicam a presen&ccedil;a do <i>script</i>  de base segura. Os valores mais elevados s&atilde;o atribu&iacute;dos quando o <i>script</i> &eacute; elaborado, revela conhecimento e  sensibilidade face ao estado emocional do outro, reformula o significado do obst&aacute;culo/conflito de um modo favor&aacute;vel e/ou integra a  intera&ccedil;&atilde;o atual no contexto da rela&ccedil;&atilde;o entre os sujeitos (ver Waters &amp; Rodrigues-Doolabh, 2004; Waters &amp;  Waters, 2006). A m&eacute;dia das hist&oacute;rias, com conte&uacute;do de base segura, indica o valor <i>script</i> de base segura global para  cada sujeito. A cota&ccedil;&atilde;o foi realizada por tr&ecirc;s investigadores, previamente treinados e com experi&ecirc;ncia nesta  metodologia. Nenhum teve acesso a informa&ccedil;&atilde;o sobre as fam&iacute;lias. Os valores de acordo entre os investigadores (calculados  como correla&ccedil;&otilde;es intra-classes) variam entre .74 e .96, com cerca de 89% dos valores a situarem-se dentro de 1 ponto na escala de  1-7.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><i>Sociodemogr&aacute;ficos</i></p>     <p>As m&atilde;es responderam a uma <i>Ficha Sociodemogr&aacute;fica</i> que visava recolher informa&ccedil;&atilde;o referente aos pais (e.g.,  idade, estado civil, habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es liter&aacute;rias, trabalho), &agrave; crian&ccedil;a (e.g., idade e sexo) e ao sistema familiar  (e.g., estatuto socioecon&oacute;mico).</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><i>Envolvimento parental</i></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>Ambos os cuidadores responderam de modo independente, e em momentos distintos, a uma escala sobre o envolvimento parental, analisado enquanto  a participa&ccedil;&atilde;o na organiza&ccedil;&atilde;o e realiza&ccedil;&atilde;o de diferentes atividades relacionadas com as crian&ccedil;as  (Monteiro, Ver&iacute;ssimo et al., 2010). &Eacute; constitu&iacute;da por 17 itens, organizados em duas dimens&otilde;es: (1) atividades  pr&aacute;ticas, composta por 11 itens, relacionados com a organiza&ccedil;&atilde;o e realiza&ccedil;&atilde;o dos cuidados &agrave;  crian&ccedil;a (e.g., &ldquo;Quem fica em casa quando o seu filho est&aacute; doente&rdquo; ou &ldquo;Quem d&aacute; banho ao seu filho&rdquo;);  (2) atividades l&uacute;dicas, composta por 6 itens, relacionados com a brincadeira e o lazer (e.g., &ldquo;Quem l&ecirc; hist&oacute;rias ao seu  filho&rdquo; ou &ldquo;Quem leva o seu filho ao parque infantil&rdquo;). O envolvimento &eacute; avaliado numa perspetiva relativa face &agrave;  outra figura parental. &Eacute; pedido &agrave;s figuras parentais que respondam a cada item numa escala de 5 pontos: Sempre a m&atilde;e (1);  Quase sempre a m&atilde;e (2); Tanto a m&atilde;e como o pai (3); Quase sempre o pai (4); Sempre o pai (5), apenas para a crian&ccedil;a a  participar no estudo. Valores mais elevados representam uma maior participa&ccedil;&atilde;o do pai. Os Alfa de <i>Cronbach</i> atingiram valores  aceit&aacute;veis em todas as dimens&otilde;es (atividades pr&aacute;ticas: m&atilde;e=.70, pai=.71 e atividades l&uacute;dicas: m&atilde;e=.85,  pai=.72. Com base nos coeficientes de correla&ccedil;&atilde;o intra-classe verificou-se que as atividades pr&aacute;ticas e l&uacute;dicas  apresentavam valores muito elevados de concord&acirc;ncia no casal (.78 e .79 respetivamente). Deste modo, calculou-se um valor comp&oacute;sito  (atrav&eacute;s da m&eacute;dia aritm&eacute;tica) das respostas de m&atilde;es e pais, utilizado nas an&aacute;lises seguintes.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><b>Resultados</b></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><i>Script de base segura do pai</i></p>     <p>As rela&ccedil;&otilde;es intra-hist&oacute;rias adulto/crian&ccedil;a e adulto/adulto foram analisadas, verificando-se a exist&ecirc;ncia de  correla&ccedil;&otilde;es positivas e significativas nas hist&oacute;rias adulto/crian&ccedil;a (<i>r</i>=.61, <i>p</i>&lt;.001), adulto/adulto  (<i>r</i>=.64, <i>p</i>&lt;.001), e entre os dois grupos de narrativas (<i>r</i>=.60, <i>p</i>&lt;.001). Deste modo, calcularam-se valores  comp&oacute;sitos (m&eacute;dia aritm&eacute;tica) para as narrativas adulto/crian&ccedil;a e adulto/adulto, bem como um comp&oacute;sito global  de <i>script</i> de base segura. <body><![CDATA[<p>&nbsp;</p>     <p>A an&aacute;lise das duas dimens&otilde;es do question&aacute;rio indica que, em m&eacute;dia &eacute; &ldquo;quase sempre a m&atilde;e&rdquo;  a realizar as tarefas pr&aacute;ticas de organiza&ccedil;&atilde;o e cuidados &agrave; crian&ccedil;a, com os valores a variarem entre 1 e 3.25  (<i>M</i>=2.17, <i>DP</i>=.47). Nas atividades l&uacute;dicas (brincadeira/lazer) os valores variam entre 1 e 3.30 (<i>M</i>=2.69,  <i>DP</i>=.39), indicando uma tend&ecirc;ncia para &ldquo;tanto a m&atilde;e como o pai&rdquo; participarem nestas atividades. Uma an&aacute;lise  <i>t-</i>s<i>tudent</i> para amostras emparelhadas indica que as figuras parentais partilham significativamente mais as atividades  l&uacute;dicas, do que as pr&aacute;ticas [<i>t</i>(61)=-10.4, <i>p</i>&lt;.001].</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><i>Sociodemogr&aacute;ficos</i></p>     <p>Com base em Correla&ccedil;&otilde;es de <i>Pearson</i> testaram-se as associa&ccedil;&otilde;es bivariadas entre as vari&aacute;veis  sociodemogr&aacute;ficas (medidas em vari&aacute;veis cont&iacute;nuas) de pai, m&atilde;e (idade, habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es liter&aacute;rias),  e crian&ccedil;a (idade), os <i>scripts</i> de base segura e o envolvimento do pai. Apenas foi encontrada uma correla&ccedil;&atilde;o positiva e  significativa entre a idade da crian&ccedil;a e participa&ccedil;&atilde;o nas atividades pr&aacute;ticas (<i>r</i>=.27, <i>p</i>=.034); e entre  as habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es liter&aacute;rias do pai e a participa&ccedil;&atilde;o nas atividades l&uacute;dicas (<i>r</i>=.31,  <i>p</i>=.014). Assim, quanto mais velha a crian&ccedil;a, mais o pai participa nas atividades pr&aacute;ticas, e quanto mais elevadas as suas  habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es liter&aacute;rias, maior a participa&ccedil;&atilde;o nas atividades l&uacute;dicas. An&aacute;lises one-way ANOVAS  com o sexo da crian&ccedil;a como vari&aacute;vel independente indicam que n&atilde;o existem diferen&ccedil;as significativas entre rapazes e  raparigas para o envolvimento do pai.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><i>Script de base segura e o envolvimento do pai</i></p>     <p>As associa&ccedil;&otilde;es bivariadas entre as representa&ccedil;&otilde;es de vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o do pai e o seu envolvimento nas  atividades relacionadas com a crian&ccedil;a s&atilde;o apresentadas na <a href="#t2">Tabela 2</a>. Apenas o <i>script</i> de base segura nas  narrativas adulto/crian&ccedil;a se encontra positivamente associado com a participa&ccedil;&atilde;o paterna nas atividades pr&aacute;ticas.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><a name="t2"></a></p>     ]]></body>

<p>&nbsp;</p>     <p>Quando se controla a idade da crian&ccedil;a e as habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es liter&aacute;rias do pai nas rela&ccedil;&otilde;es entre os  <i>scripts</i> e o envolvimento, os resultados continuam a indicar uma associa&ccedil;&atilde;o positiva e significativa entre o script  adulto/crian&ccedil;a e as atividades pr&aacute;ticas (<i>r</i>=.26, <i>p</i>&lt;.04). As restantes associa&ccedil;&otilde;es mant&ecirc;m-se  n&atilde;o significativas.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><b>Discuss&atilde;o</b></p>     <p>&ldquo;Fathers are parents too!&rdquo; (Cabrera et al., 2018), no entanto, existe ainda um caminho a percorrer no sentido da sua  inclus&atilde;o efetiva, quer ao n&iacute;vel da investiga&ccedil;&atilde;o sobre a parentalidade e do seu impacto no desenvolvimento de  crian&ccedil;as e jovens, quer ao n&iacute;vel das pol&iacute;ticas relativas &agrave; fam&iacute;lia. Procurando ser um contributo nesse  sentido, o presente estudo teve como objetivo explorar, numa amostra de fam&iacute;lias nucleares portuguesas de duplo rendimento, as  rela&ccedil;&otilde;es entre as representa&ccedil;&otilde;es de vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o do pai e o seu envolvimento em atividades do dia-a-dia  relacionadas com crian&ccedil;as entre os 2 e os 5 anos de idade.</p>     <p>Ao n&iacute;vel das representa&ccedil;&otilde;es de vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o verificou-se que, face a diferentes conjuntos de palavras que  remetem para contextos de rotina e ansiog&eacute;nicos (Waters &amp; Rodrigues-Doolabh, 2001, 2004), os pais ativam o <i>script</i> de base  segura que guia a constru&ccedil;&atilde;o das suas narrativas. Estas reproduzem, assim, diferentes expectativas, mais ou menos consistentes  acerca das intera&ccedil;&otilde;es adulto/crian&ccedil;a e adulto/adulto (Waters &amp; Waters, 2006). A ideia impl&iacute;cita ao uso deste tipo  de metodologias &eacute; que os processos mentais variam, tal como os processos comportamentais, em fun&ccedil;&atilde;o dos diferentes modelos  internos, o que se reflete na linguagem (Main et al., 1985). Tal como para as m&atilde;es (amostras maioritariamente utilizadas noutros estudos)  os pais, nesta amostra, possuem um <i>script</i> generalizado de base segura, com os valores de correla&ccedil;&atilde;o entre narrativas  adulto/crian&ccedil;a e adulto/adulto a assemelharem-se aos de outras amostras de diversos grupos socioculturais (e.g., Monteiro et al., 2015;  Rodrigues-Doohlab, Zevallos, Turan, &amp; Green, 2003; Vaughn et al., 2007; Ver&iacute;ssimo et al., 2005). Refira-se, ainda, que  n&atilde;o existem correla&ccedil;&otilde;es significativas entre as habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es dos pais e os valores <i>script</i> de base  segura. O facto de as hist&oacute;rias serem produ&ccedil;&otilde;es orais ajuda a minimizar poss&iacute;veis diferen&ccedil;as individuais em  termos de estilos e compet&ecirc;ncia verbal (Waters &amp; Waters, 2006).</p>     <p>Relativamente ao envolvimento paterno, analisado como a participa&ccedil;&atilde;o relativa do pai, em rela&ccedil;&atilde;o &agrave;  m&atilde;e, em atividades pr&aacute;ticas (gest&atilde;o e cuidados diretos &agrave; crian&ccedil;a) e l&uacute;dicas (brincadeira e lazer),  verifica-se que as m&atilde;es continuam a assumir &ldquo;quase sempre&rdquo; o papel cuidador e de gest&atilde;o/organiza&ccedil;&atilde;o na  fam&iacute;lia, havendo uma tend&ecirc;ncia para a partilha nas atividades l&uacute;dicas (e.g., Monteiro et al., 2017; Monteiro,  Ver&iacute;ssimo et al., 2010; Torres et al., 2014). Nestas fam&iacute;lias, a envolvimento continua, assim, a ser tendencialmente baseado no  g&eacute;nero, potencializando diferentes tipos de intera&ccedil;&atilde;o com a crian&ccedil;a, embora n&atilde;o se possa inferir que os pais  sejam menos competentes ou n&atilde;o sejam capazes de cuidar de modo sens&iacute;vel e responsivo dos seus filhos (e.g., Bretherton et al.,  2005; Monteiro, Ver&iacute;ssimo et al., 2010). Ser&aacute;, ainda, importante n&atilde;o minimizar o envolvimento do pai (assim como o da  m&atilde;e) em atividades de brincadeira, dado o seu papel no suporte &agrave; explora&ccedil;&atilde;o do ambiente f&iacute;sico e social da  crian&ccedil;a, ou por exemplo nos dom&iacute;nios da regula&ccedil;&atilde;o emocional e comportamental (e.g., Grossmann et al., 2002; Lamb  &amp; Lewis, 2010; StGeorge &amp; Freeman, 2017).</p>     <p>Das vari&aacute;veis sociodemogr&aacute;ficas controladas apenas a idade da crian&ccedil;a se encontra positivamente associada com o  envolvimento do pai nas atividades pr&aacute;ticas. &Eacute; poss&iacute;vel que com o aumento das compet&ecirc;ncias e autonomia das  crian&ccedil;as em idade pr&eacute;-escolar, os pais se sintam mais &agrave;-vontade e competentes para participar nos cuidados aos filhos,  comparativamente, por exemplo, com os cuidados no primeiro ano de vida (e.g., Bailey, 1994). Nas atividades l&uacute;dicas, e tal como noutros  estudos (e.g., Monteiro et al., 2017; Monteiro, Fernandes, et al., 2010), pais com habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es liter&aacute;rias mais elevadas  est&atilde;o mais envolvidos com os seus filhos. Este tipo de atividades pode ser visto pelos cuidadores n&atilde;o s&oacute; como contextos de  intera&ccedil;&otilde;es de partilha afetiva, mas tamb&eacute;m de aquisi&ccedil;&atilde;o e desenvolvimento de diversas compet&ecirc;ncias  (e.g., cognitivas, lingu&iacute;sticas), assim como de normas e valores do grupo de perten&ccedil;a (e.g., Parke, 1996; Parke et al., 2004).</p>     <p>Nesta amostra, as representa&ccedil;&otilde;es de vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o, em particular as referentes &agrave;s rela&ccedil;&otilde;es  adulto/crian&ccedil;a encontram-se positivamente associadas com o envolvimento do pai nas atividades pr&aacute;ticas (controlando a idade da  crian&ccedil;a e as habilita&ccedil;&otilde;es do pai). Apesar de se verificar que estes pais possuem um <i>script</i> de base segura global,  &eacute; poss&iacute;vel que face a contextos espec&iacute;ficos de intera&ccedil;&atilde;o, seja o conhecimento do tipo <i>script</i>  adulto/crian&ccedil;a que seja ativado, influenciando expectativas, sentimentos e comportamentos no exerc&iacute;cio da parentalidade. Por outro  lado, esta associa&ccedil;&atilde;o apenas &eacute; significativa para as atividades pr&aacute;ticas que remetem para cuidados &agrave;  crian&ccedil;a. Sugere-se que o conhecimento de tipo <i>script</i> adulto/crian&ccedil;a possa ser mais relevante em dom&iacute;nios onde o papel  do pai &eacute; menos bem definido cultural e socialmente (Peitz et al., 2001), como &eacute; o caso dos cuidados, comparativamente com a  brincadeira e o lazer.</p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>Os autores gostariam de indicar algumas limita&ccedil;&otilde;es deste estudo, nomeadamente, o facto de ter um delineamento transversal e  correlacional com as implica&ccedil;&otilde;es da&iacute; inerentes &agrave;s interpreta&ccedil;&otilde;es dos resultados, nomeadamente, ao  n&iacute;vel da causalidade. Por outro lado, a amostra &eacute; reduzida e relativamente homog&eacute;nea em termos sociodemogr&aacute;ficos.  Refira-se, ainda, a necessidade de estudos futuros inclu&iacute;rem outro tipo de atividades (e.g., instru&ccedil;&atilde;o, disciplina), bem  como integrar a componente da qualidade desse envolvimento (e.g., Ainsworth, Blehar, Waters, &amp; Wall, 1978; Egeland, Erickson, Moon, Hiester,  &amp; Korfmacher, 1990; Grossmann et al., 2002; StGeorge &amp; Freeman, 2017). Se um maior envolvimento do pai tem sido associado, de modo  consistente, a resultados mais positivos para a crian&ccedil;a, adulto e para o pr&oacute;prio sistema familiar, quando as caracter&iacute;sticas  e qualidade do mesmo s&atilde;o descritas como negativas (e.g., abusiva) os resultados s&atilde;o distintos (ver Lamb, 2010b, 2012).</p>     <p>Apesar das limita&ccedil;&otilde;es, este estudo contribui para a an&aacute;lise do papel do pai, considerando a sua perspetiva, e salientando  a hist&oacute;ria do indiv&iacute;duo (representa&ccedil;&otilde;es de vincula&ccedil;&atilde;o) e do seu potencial impacto na idade adulta,  nomeadamente, na parentalidade.
