<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0871-018X2021000100051&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0871-018X2021000100051&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0871-018X2021000100051&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO Considerando a necessidade do restabelecimento de campos de palma forrageira resistente a cochonilha do carmim, pretendeu-se avaliar o método de propagação pelo fracionamento do cladódio das variedades Orelha de elefante (Opuntia stricta L Haw) e Baiana (Nopolea cochenillifera Salm Dick). Utilizou-se cladódios fracionados obtendo-se três tratamentos constituídos pelas frações do terço superior (Ts), terço médio (Tm) e terço inferior (Ti) dos cladódios usados como partes vegetativas para as mudas. As divisões dos tratamentos corresponderam a 180 mudas, sendo 90 Orelha de elefante e 90 Baiana distribuídas em sacos de mudas de forma casualizada. Mudas oriundas da fração inferior dos cladódios apresentam maior acumulação de matéria seca, porém uma maior quantidade de brotos é observada nas mudas oriundas da fração mediana do cladódio, independentemente da cultivar de palma forrageira. Em ambas as espécies e tratamentos estudados o enraizamento foi superior a 90% o que denota a viabilidade da técnica do fracionamento como meio rápido e prático de se obter maior quantidade de mudas por cladódio para plantio na palma forrageira.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Considering the need to re-establish fields of forage cactus resistant to carmine cochineal, this study aimed to evaluate the propagation method by fractioning of the cladodes of two species of cactus forages (Opuntia stricta Haw) cultivar &#8220;Orelha de elefante&#8221; and (Nopalea cochenillifera Salm Dick) cultivar &#8220;Baiana&#8221;. The experiment was carried out at the National Institute for the Semiarid of Brazil. The treatments consisted of the fractions of the cladode upper (Ts), middle (Tm), and lower (Ti). The treatment divisions corresponded to 180 seedlings, being 90 &#8220;Orelha de elefante&#8221; and 90 &#8220;Baiana&#8221;. Seedlings from the lower fraction of the cladode have a higher accumulation of dry matter. A larger number of shoots were observed in the seedlings from the median fraction of the cladode, regardless of the cactus forage cultivar (P&gt; 0.05). Both species and treatments studied rooting were greater than 90%, which denoted the feasibility of the fractionation technique as a quick and practical method to obtain a large number of seedlings per cladode for planting in the cactus forage.]]></p></abstract>
