<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0871-018X2023000500141&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0871-018X2023000500141&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0871-018X2023000500141&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo A utilização de subprodutos resultantes do processo de pirólise, como o biochar (BioC), têm revelado interesse na manutenção do ambiente edáfico, especialmente nas respetivas propriedades físico-químicas, menorizando os potenciais efeitos sobre a biologia do solo. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito da aplicação de diferentes doses de um BioC de origem vegetal no comportamento da espécie Eisenia fetida, com base na determinação da percentagem de fuga ou evitamento (% Evit), de um solo-teste (com biochar) comparativamente a um solo-controlo (sem biochar), de modo a estimar os potenciais riscos associados à sua aplicação no solo, de acordo com as normas requeridas para este tipo de teste (ISO 17512-1). Os resultados obtidos revelaram um efeito significativo (p&lt;0,05) da aplicação e dose de BioC no comportamento das minhocas. Em todos os tratamentos com BioC foi observado um evitamento da E. fetida, com os valores a variar entre os 33 e 66%. Fatores associados a um aumento dos valores de retenção de água, pH e condutividade elétrica do solo parecem explicar o comportamento das minhocas nos tratamentos com BioC, os quais se revelaram mais intensos para as doses de 15 e 30 t/ha, nas quais os limites de habitabilidade do solo, relativos a 60% de evitamento, foram ultrapassados.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The use of by-products resulting from the pyrolysis process, such as biochar (BioC), has reveal increasing interest in maintaining edaphic environment, especially in the respective physicochemical properties, minimize the potential effects on biology conditions. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of applying different doses of a plant derived BioC on the behavior of Eisenia fetida, based on determining the percentage of escape or avoidance (% Evit) from a test soil (with biochar) compared to a control soil (without biochar), in order to estimate the potential risks to soil application, according to the required guidelines for this type of test (ISO 17512-1). The results showed a significant effect (p &lt;0.05) of BioC application and dose on the behavior of the earthworms. In all treatments with BioC, avoidance of E. fetida was observed, with values ranging from 33 to 66%. Factors associated with an increase in soil water retention, pH, and electrical conductivity seem to explain the behaviour of earthworms in the BioC treatments, with more higher effects for 15 and 30 t/ha doses, where soil habitability limits, relative to 60% avoidance, were exceeded.]]></p></abstract>
