A distonia cervical pós-traumática é uma sequela rara do traumatismo crânio-encefálico. Os autores descrevem o caso clínico de um doente com distonia cervical e movimentos involuntários sugestivo de tremor distónico que surgiram após um traumatismo cefálico. A relação entre o trauma e o desenvolvimento de movimentos involuntários é difícil de provar, sobretudo na presença de estudos de neuro-imagem normais. O traumatismo pode ser um factor precipitante da distonia cervical em indivíduos geneticamente susceptíveis. Alguns doentes com distonia focal, como torcicolo, apresentam um tremor postural moderado dos membros superiores. Actualmente, dado não haver marcadores biológicos, é difícil determinar se o tremor postural é parte integrante da síndroma distónica focal ou se reflecte a presença de ambos, distonia focal e tremor essencial.

Post-Traumatic Cervical Dystonia and Atypical Dystonic Tremor
Post-traumatic cervical dystonia is a rare manifestation after head trauma. The authors describe the clinical case of a patient with cervical dystonia and involuntary movements like dystonic tremor that appeared after a head trauma. The relationship between trauma and development of involuntary movements is difficult to prove, mainly in the presence of normal brain imaging studies. The trauma may be a triggering factor for cervical dystonia in individuals with genetic susceptibility. Some patients with focal dystonia exhibit a moderate postural tremor of the superior limbs. Nowadays, there are no biological markers, so it is difficult to determine if the postural tremor is part of the focal dystonic syndrome or if it reflects the presence of both, focal dystonia and essential tremor.
