Tratou-se de um estudo quasi-experimental (N = 7, estudantes universitárias) com 6 sessões semanais de 3 horas cada, envolvendo um grupo controlo sujeito a outras intervenções e uma avaliação pré e pós-teste, com um follow-up a 6 meses. A intervenção baseou-se no modelo IMB e usou como medida o Questionário sobre Relacionamentos e Saúde. Não se encontraram diferenças entre os grupos (excepto para a informação) e no follow-up do grupo experimental ocorreram mudanças nas competências comportamentais, informação e comportamentos preventivos. Apesar do uso do preservativo ser elevado, todas as participantes realizaram um teste de despistagem do HIV. As conclusões reflectem sobre a rápida adesão a outros comportamentos preventivos para além do preservativo e salientam a importância de se explorarem comportamentos preventivos alternativos devido ao abandono habitual desta protecção, nas relações mais longas, sem a realização de um teste de despistagem do HIV/SIDA.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The study aims to increase behavioural skills and the adoption of preventive behaviours in HIV/AIDS besides consistent condom use, such as HIV testing by both partners. This quasi-experimental study was a small group intervention (N = 7) of 6, 3hr sessions held 1 week apart, with a comparison group attending other interventions, and a pre-post test evaluation and a 6-month follow-up. The intervention was based on the IMB model and used the Health and Relationships Survey as measure. As expected with such a small sample, there were no differences between groups (except for information). In the follow-up, changes were observed in behavioural skills, information and preventive behaviours in the intervention-group. Although levels of condom use were high, every participant had a HIV test, and the changes in the preventive behaviour had to be analysed accordingly. The conclusions reflect on the rapid adherence to other protective behaviours besides condom use and highlight the exploration of these alternatives in a controlled context, as an intervention, due to the habitual abandonment of this protection in long-term relationships without an HIV test.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Queríamos aumentar las competencias conductuales y desarrollar la adopción de comportamientos preventivos hacía el VIH/SIDA, y no sólo el uso continuado del preservativo, principalmente la realización de la prueba de 210 Maria-João Alvarez & Michael Oliveira detección del VIH/SIDA en las parejas. Se ha tratado de un estudio quasiexperimental (N = 7, estudiantes universitarias), con 6 sesiones semanales de 3 horas cada una, envolviendo un grupo de control sujeto a otras intervenciones y una evaluación previa y posterior, con un seguimiento de 6 meses. La intervención se ha basado en el modelo IMB y se ha utilizado como medida el Cuestionario sobre Relaciones y Salud. No se han encontrado diferencias entre los grupos (excepto por la información), y en el seguimiento del grupo experimental se han verificado cambios en las competencias conductuales, información y comportamientos preventivos. A pesar de que el uso del preservativo es elevado, todas las participantes realizaron la prueba de detección del VIH. Las conclusiones reflejan la rápida adhesión a otros comportamientos preventivos, más allá del preservativo, y destacan la importancia de explorar comportamientos preventivos alternativos, debido al hábito de abandonar esta protección en relaciones más duraderas, sin realizar una prueba de detección del VIH/SIDA.]]></p></abstract>
