Num período marcado pela expetativa de dar continuidade às suas escolhas académicas num contexto novo, o estudante do ensino superior vai mobilizar os seus recursos para o processo de adaptação. Neste processo, não obstante ser reconhecida a importância do apoio da família, conhece-se relativamente pouco acerca do papel do apoio familiar e da perceção desse auxílio pelos estudantes. Procurando colmatar esta lacuna, o presente estudo apresenta uma revisão integrativa de artigos publicados nos últimos 30 anos, com o objetivo de descrever as distintas formas de relacionar o apoio familiar ao processo de adaptação ao contexto universitário português, durante o período da &#8216;adultez&#8217; emergente. Dá-se particular atenção aos resultados da pesquisa, nomeadamente os que apontam para a influência da família e do papel que assume na adaptação. Foram consultadas diferentes bases de dados (SciELO, Google Scholar, Scopus, Dialnet e RCAAP) e foram selecionados 12 artigos. Os estudos selecionados evidenciam o papel da família e o apoio familiar percebido como variáveis preditoras de uma adaptação positiva. Destaca-se a necessidade de realizar mais estudos, em particular com enfoque nas características do apoio familiar durante o período de adaptação ao contexto académico.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Entry into higher education presents young university students with numerous challenges and changes that can have different implications on the degree of success and satisfaction with life, and with academic life in particular. In a period marked by the expectation of continuing their academic choices in a new context, higher education students will mobilize their resources for the adaptation process. In this process, despite the recognition of the importance of family support, very few is known about the role of family support and the perception of this support by students. Seeking to fill this gap, the present study presents an integrative review of articles published in the last 30 years, with the objective of describing the different ways of relating family support to the process of adaptation to the Portuguese university context, during the period of emerging adulthood. Particular attention is given to the research results, namely those that point to the influence of the family and the role it assumes in adaptation. Different databases were consulted (SciELO, Google Scholar, Scopus, Dialnet and RCAAP) and 12 articles were selected. The selected studies show the role of the family and the perceived family support as predictive variables of positive adaptation. The need for further studies is highlighted, particularly with focusing on the characteristics of family support during the period of adaptation to the academic context.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN El ingreso a la educación superior presenta a los estudiantes universitarios numerosos desafíos y cambios que pueden tener diferentes implicaciones en el grado de éxito y satisfacción con la vida y con la vida académica en particular. En un período marcado por la expectativa de continuar con sus opciones académicas en un nuevo contexto, los estudiantes de educación superior movilizarán sus recursos para el proceso de adaptación. En este proceso, a pesar del reconocimiento de la importancia del apoyo familiar, se sabe relativamente poco sobre el papel del apoyo familiar y la percepción de este apoyo por parte de los estudiantes. Buscando llenar este vacío, el presente estudio presenta una revisión integradora de artículos publicados en los últimos 30 años, con el objetivo de describir las diferentes formas de relacionar el apoyo familiar al proceso de adaptación al contexto universitario portugués, durante el período de edad adulta emergente. Se presta especial atención a los resultados de la investigación, es decir, aquellos que apuntan a la influencia de la familia y el papel que asume en la adaptación. Se consultaron diferentes bases de datos (SciELO, Google Scholar, Scopus, Dialnet y RCAAP) y se seleccionaron 12 artículos. Los estudios seleccionados muestran el papel de la familia y el apoyo familiar percibido como variables predictoras de una adaptación positiva. Se destaca la necesidad de más estudios, particularmente con foco en las características del apoyo familiar durante el período de adaptación al contexto académico.]]></p></abstract>
