Uma perspectiva histórica

RESUMO: O artigo faz parte de uma investigação sobre a internacionalização da economia portuguesa. O seu objectivo é o de analisar o Investimento Directo do Exterior (IDE) em Portugal numa perspectiva histórica. Para tal, foram utilizados estudos anteriores sobre o IDE e analisados dados publicados pelo ICEP, Banco de Portugal e Instituto Nacional de Estatística sobre o investimento internacional em Portugal. O artigo propõe seis fases históricas para o IDE em Portugal, de acordo com o enquadramento nacional e internacional e, na última secção, são feitas algumas considerações sobre a perspectiva futura do IDE.

TITLE: Foreign direct investment in Portugal – A historical perspective
ABSTRACT: The article is part of an on-going research about the internationalisation of the Portuguese economy. It aims at analyzing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Portugal from a historical perspective. The data was gathered from secondary information published by ICEP, Bank of Portugal and Instituto Nacional de Estatística as well as from previous studies about FDI in Portugal. The article proposes six historical phases for FDI in Portugal in agreement with the national and international framework. In the last section some considerations are made about the future perspective of FDI.
