RESUMO: O principal objectivo deste artigo é estudar o projecto de gás natural de Pande & Temane e avaliar as perspectivas de desenvolvimento do sector do Oil & Gas em Moçambique que, nos últimos anos, foi objecto de substanciais transformações institucionais. Sublinha-se a influência que a evolução dos preços mundiais do gás natural e das inovações tecnológicas entretanto ocorridas no sector tiveram na determinação do volume das reservas disponíveis e na formulação das estratégias dos protagonistas. Sustenta-se que uma utilização adequada das receitas da exploração do gás natural em Moçambique deveria constituir um poderoso factor de apoio ao desenvolvimento económico e social do país.

TITLE: Mozambique in the geoeconomics of natural gas
ABSTRACT: The main purpose of this article is to study the natural gas project of Pande & Temane and to assess the perspectives of development of the Oil & Gas sector in Mozambique that in recent years has been the subject of a deep institutional transformation. The rise of the world prices of the natural gas and the evolution of the level of technical innovation in the sector are presented as major factors influencing the determination of the volume of reserves available and the formulation of the strategies of the stakeholders. It is stressed that a proper use of the financial resources resulting from the exploration of the natural gas in Mozambique should be a powerful contribution to the economic and social development of the country.
