An auto-radio production line was chosen, where the transport and respective decisions are made automatically and are coordinated by a control system. The simulation environment (ARENA) is employed in order to allow the production engineer to validate the impact of the control strategies on production. This contributes to an improved specification, characterization and definition of the most efficient control system. For this purpose, six strategies were investigated. The innovative part of this system can be seen in its generic character of both the high level of flexibility from the point of view of physical processing and control strategies and its capacity for parameterization - this flexibility is achieved by means of automatic generation of Arena Models. An additional contribution is the integration, in the simulation environment, of an automatic report generator showing the main performance measures of the models, in which information is accessed via graphics, thereby providing a friendly interface for the user.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Neste artigo apresenta-se uma aplicação informática para apoio à decisão, visando a geração automática de modelos de simulação com diferentes estratégias de controlo para a redefinição de fluxos de processamento de materiais ao longo de uma linha de produção da indústria electrónica. Esta linha de produção é constituída por linhas de fabrico de auto-rádios em que o transporte e a respectiva decisão são realizados de uma forma automática, e sob a coordenação de um sistema de controlo. Pretende-se que o recurso à simulação em ambiente ARENA permita, ao engenheiro de produção, validar o impacto das estratégias de controlo na produção, contribuindo para uma melhor especificação, caracterização e definição do mais eficaz sistema de controlo; para isso, foram analisadas seis estratégias. A característica inovadora deste sistema reside no seu carácter genérico; no elevado índice de flexibilidade, do ponto de vista do processo físico e das estratégias de controlo, e nas facilidades de parametrização - esta flexibilidade é conseguida através da geração automática de Modelos em Arena. Um contributo adicional deste trabalho consistiu na integração no ambiente de simulação de um gerador automático de relatórios, reveladores dos principais índices de desempenho dos modelos em presença, nos quais o acesso à informação é feito através de gráficos, proporcionando uma interface amigável com o utilizador.]]></p></abstract>
