It engages with images that span her early works of the nineteen eighties to her most recent ones, drawing upon religious texts (the Old and New Testaments), literary texts (Eça de Queirós’ The Crime of Father Amaro/O crime do padre Amaro; Alexandre Herculano’s The Dame with a Goat’s Foot/A Dama Pé de Cabra; Hélia Correia’s Enchantment/Fascinação); to social polemics (abortion rights, female genital mutilation).
</abstract>
