O processo de adaptação transcultural do instrumento utilizou o método de tradução-retrotradução, seguido de um estudo piloto (n = 16), em que se avaliaram aspectos como compreensão e pertinência das questões, facilidade e tempo de preenchimento. Posteriormente, realizou-se o estudo psicométrico (n = 487) em instituições de ensino superior portuguesas. A escala inclui 25 itens distribuídos por cinco sub-escalas: felicidade, sociabilidade, controlo de si e dos acontecimentos, envolvimento social, auto-estima e equilíbrio, para além de um resultado global ou bem-estar total. Os resultados do presente estudo demonstram boas propriedades psicométricas e uma estrutura e propriedades idênticas às da versão original.]]></p></abstract>

	    <p>Ap&oacute;s a II Guerra Mundial, a psicologia focou grande parte da sua aten&#231;&atilde;o na patologia, com base num modelo de doen&#231;a para a compreens&atilde;o do comportamento humano, o que conduziu a uma neglig&ecirc;ncia de conceitos positivos, de que s&atilde;o exemplo o optimismo, a esperan&#231;a, a felicidade e o bem&#45;estar (Seligman, 2002; Seligman &amp; Csiksentmihalyi, 2000). Estes anos de exist&ecirc;ncia de uma psicologia dedicada fundamentalmente &agrave; perturba&#231;&atilde;o psicol&oacute;gica mostraram claramente a possibilidade de se intervir de forma a melhorar as vidas de indiv&iacute;duos com perturba&#231;&atilde;o, com interven&#231;&otilde;es remediativas, individuais e colectivas, eficazes e cientificamente validadas (Seligman, Steen, Park, &amp; Peterson, 2005). No entanto e sabendo que a aus&ecirc;ncia de doen&#231;a n&atilde;o constitui, por si s&oacute;, felicidade ou bem&#45;estar (Diener &amp; Lucas, 2000), o foco na doen&#231;a e na patologia esquece o estudo e avalia&#231;&atilde;o de um n&uacute;mero importante de indiv&iacute;duos.</p>

	    <p>Assim, com base nos trabalhos pioneiros de Rogers (1951), Maslow (1954, 1962), Jahoda (1958), Erikson (1963, 1982), Vaillant (1977), Deci e Ryan (1985) e Ryff e Singer (1996), entre muitos outros, os psic&oacute;logos dedicados ao estudo da psicologia positiva t&ecirc;m reunido esfor&#231;os para aumentar o conhecimento acerca de como, porqu&ecirc; e em que condi&#231;&otilde;es as experi&ecirc;ncias positivas (como emo&#231;&otilde;es positivas, bem&#45;estar, felicidade, esperan&#231;a, alegria), as caracter&iacute;sticas positivas individuais (como car&aacute;cter, for&#231;as e virtudes) e as institui&#231;&otilde;es positivas (como organiza&#231;&otilde;es baseadas no sucesso e potencial humano) florescem (Seligman et al., 2005).</p>

	    <p>Neste contexto, reconhece&#45;se que a sa&uacute;de mental n&atilde;o deve ser unicamente avaliada a partir de reac&#231;&otilde;es negativas como a depress&atilde;o ou ansiedade. &Eacute; consensual que a integra&#231;&atilde;o de medidas de emo&#231;&otilde;es positivas e de satisfa&#231;&atilde;o com a vida e consigo mesmo &eacute; essencial no sentido de captar um retrato mais completo da sa&uacute;de mental de determinado indiv&iacute;duo (Diener, 1994).</p>

	    <p>O bem&#45;estar &eacute; uma &aacute;rea de estudo extremamente ampla, cuja investiga&#231;&atilde;o realizada reflecte diferentes conceptualiza&#231;&otilde;es te&oacute;ricas e operacionaliza&#231;&otilde;es do conceito (Novo, 2003). Apesar destas diferen&#231;as, &eacute; consensual que a origem do conceito reside na discuss&atilde;o filos&oacute;fica e cient&iacute;fica entre o <i>hedonismo</i> e a <i>eudaimonia</i> como objectivos de vida, discuss&atilde;o esta que conduziu respectivamente a duas correntes de pensamento que orientam os modelos actuais de bem&#45;estar (Keyes, Shmotkin, &amp; Ryff, 2002; Lent, 2004; Ryan &amp; Deci, 2001; Ryff &amp; Keyes, 1995; Waterman, 1993) &#150; o bem&#45;estar subjectivo (BES) (<i>subjective well being</i>) e o bem&#45;estar psicol&oacute;gico (BEP) (<i>psychological well being</i>).</p>

<body><![CDATA[<p>A perspectiva hed&oacute;nica reside fundamentalmente no princ&iacute;pio da acumula&#231;&atilde;o do prazer e evitamento da dor, pelo que a vis&atilde;o predominante &eacute; a de que o bem&#45;estar consiste na avalia&#231;&atilde;o subjectiva da felicidade e diz respeito &agrave;s experi&ecirc;ncias de prazer e sofrimento (Kahneman, Diener, &amp; Schwarz, 1999). O modelo actual de bem&#45;estar que sustenta tais orienta&#231;&otilde;es te&oacute;rico&#45;emp&iacute;ricas denomina&#45;se de BES. Apesar da multiplicidade de estudos realizados no &acirc;mbito desta perspectiva, esta tem sido alvo de v&aacute;rias criticas, essencialmente no que respeita ao seu car&aacute;cter te&oacute;rico&#45;conceptual e emp&iacute;rico restrito (Compton, 2011; Ryff &amp; Keyes, 1995; Waterman, 1993).</p>

	    <p>&Eacute; neste contexto que a perspectiva eudaim&oacute;nica surge como uma perspectiva mais abrangente, na medida em que se centra no funcionamento psicol&oacute;gico positivo e no desenvolvimento de valores como a auto&#45;realiza&#231;&atilde;o, o crescimento pessoal e o florescimento humano (Keyes, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005; Ryan &amp; Deci, 2001; Ryff, 1989a, 1989b, 1989c, 1995; Ryff &amp; Keyes, 1995; Ryff &amp; Singer, 1998a, 1998b; Waterman, 1993). O modelo actual de bem&#45;estar que suporta as orienta&#231;&otilde;es te&oacute;ricas decorrentes da perspectiva referida denomina&#45;se de BEP e foi proposto por Carol Ryff (Ryff, 1989a, 1989b, 1989c, 1995). De acordo com a autora, o bem&#45;estar pode ser identificado a partir dos recursos psicol&oacute;gicos que o indiv&iacute;duo disp&otilde;e (processos cognitivos, afectivos e emocionais) que s&atilde;o globalmente descritos a partir de seis dimens&otilde;es centrais ao funcionamento psicol&oacute;gico positivo: aceita&#231;&atilde;o de si, rela&#231;&otilde;es positivas com os outros, dom&iacute;nio do meio, crescimento pessoal, objectivos de vida e autonomia. As seis dimens&otilde;es dever&atilde;o ser encaradas como componentes do pr&oacute;prio bem&#45;estar e n&atilde;o como contribuindo para o bem&#45;estar.</p>

	    <p>Ambas as tradi&#231;&otilde;es consideram valores humanistas que elevam a capacidade do indiv&iacute;duo para avaliar o que lhe proporciona bem&#45;estar na vida (Keys et al., 2002). N&atilde;o obstante, no contexto de avalia&#231;&atilde;o, o BES possibilita identificar o qu&atilde;o satisfeita ou feliz est&aacute; a pessoa e em que &aacute;reas da sua vida tal se verifica, enquanto o BEP salienta o qu&atilde;o satisfeita e feliz a pessoa se sente em determinados dom&iacute;nios psicol&oacute;gicos e tamb&eacute;m os recursos psicol&oacute;gicos de que esta disp&otilde;e (Ryff, 1989b).</p>

	    <p>No que se refere &agrave; exist&ecirc;ncia de instrumentos de avalia&#231;&atilde;o do bem&#45;estar psicol&oacute;gico em contexto nacional e que seja do nosso conhecimento, existem dois trabalhos de tradu&#231;&atilde;o e adapta&#231;&atilde;o independentes (Ferreira &amp; Sim&otilde;es, 1999; Novo, Duarte&#45;Silva, &amp; Peralta, 1997) da vers&atilde;o de 84 itens das <i>Psychological Well&#45;being Scales</i> (PWBS; Ryff, 1989b; Ryff, 1995) e, mais recentemente, um trabalho de adapta&#231;&atilde;o da vers&atilde;o de 18 itens das PWBS, realizado por Fernandes, Vasconcelos&#45;Raposo e Teixeira (2010), sendo que nenhum destes trabalhos foi conduzido especificamente com estudantes universit&aacute;rios.</p>

	    <p>Sabe&#45;se que os estudantes universit&aacute;rios s&atilde;o vulner&aacute;veis a um leque alargado de amea&#231;as ao seu bem&#45;estar. Por exemplo, problemas de sa&uacute;de f&iacute;sica decorrentes do consumo de &aacute;lcool (Clements, 1999; Roche &amp; Watt, 1999), tabaco e drogas il&iacute;citas (Webb, Ashton, Kelly, &amp; Kamali, 1996), assim como o envolvimento em comportamentos sexuais de risco (Brown &amp; Vanable, 2005). Quest&otilde;es psicol&oacute;gicas como o stress e problemas de ansiedade (Eisenberg, Gollust, Golberstein, &amp; Hefner, 2007; Pereira, 1997; Pereira &amp; Williams, 2001), baixa auto&#45;estima (Robins, Trzesniewski, Tracy, Gosling, &amp; Potter, 2002), insatisfa&#231;&atilde;o corporal e perturba&#231;&otilde;es de comportamento alimentar (Drewnowski, Yee, Kurter, &amp; Krahn, 1994, Kurth, Krahn, Nairn, &amp; Drewnowski, 1995, Mintz &amp; Betz, 1988, Yager &amp; O'Dea, 2008), s&atilde;o tamb&eacute;m comuns neste grupo.</p>

	    <p>Neste contexto, a adapta&#231;&atilde;o de um instrumento de avalia&#231;&atilde;o do bem&#45;estar psicol&oacute;gico em estudantes universit&aacute;rios assume pertin&ecirc;ncia. Assim, o presente trabalho pretende dar a conhecer o trabalho de adapta&#231;&atilde;o de um instrumento de avalia&#231;&atilde;o do bem&#45;estar psicol&oacute;gico, a <i>&Eacute;chelle de Mesure de Manifestations du Bien&#45;&Ecirc;tre Psychologique</i> (EMMBEP; Mass&eacute; et al., 1998), numa amostra de estudantes universit&aacute;rios, para contexto nacional.</p>

	    <p>&nbsp;</p>

	    <p><b>MÉTODO</b></p>

	    <p><i>Participantes</i></p>

	    <p>Participaram 487 estudantes universit&aacute;rios, 96 do g&eacute;nero masculino (19.71%) e 391 do sexo feminino (80.29%), com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 34 anos (M = 22.15; DP = 3.04<a name="_Toc168915459"></a><a name="_Toc168914936">), provenientes de diversas institui&#231;&otilde;es de ensino superior: Universidade de Aveiro (31.30%), Universidade de Coimbra (23.30%), Universidade Lus&iacute;ada do Porto (20.80%), Instituto Polit&eacute;cnico da Guarda (7.40%) e Instituto Polit&eacute;cnico de Castelo Branco (17.10%) e de diversos cursos.</a></p>

<body><![CDATA[<p><i>Material</i></p>

	    <p>A <i>&Eacute;chelle de Mesure des Manifestations du Bien&#45;&Ecirc;tre Psychologique</i> (&Eacute;MMBEP; Mass&eacute; et al., 1998) que, na vers&atilde;o portuguesa, denominaremos de Escala de Medida de Manifesta&#231;&atilde;o de Bem&#45;Estar Psicol&oacute;gico (EMMBEP) 
	(<a href="/img/revistas/psd/v13n1/13n1a06a1.jpg" target="_blank">Anexo 1</a>) &eacute; uma escala de resposta tipo likert de 5 pontos, que vai desde 1 (Nunca) a 5 (Quase sempre), constitu&iacute;da por um total de 25 itens, dividida em seis sub&#45;escalas: auto&#45;estima (4 itens), equil&iacute;brio (4 itens), envolvimento social (4 itens), sociabilidade (4 itens), controlo de si e dos acontecimentos (4 itens) e felicidade (5 itens).</p>

	    
<p>Quanto mais elevado for o total obtido &#150; dado pela soma das pontua&#231;&otilde;es de todos os itens &#150; maior ser&aacute; o bem&#45;estar psicol&oacute;gico percebido.</p>

	    <p>Os estudos psicom&eacute;tricos efectuados na vers&atilde;o original (Mass&eacute; et al., 1998) revelaram n&iacute;veis adequados de consist&ecirc;ncia interna para a nota global (a = .93), e para as seis sub&#45;escalas consideradas, com valores de alpha de Cronbach entre .71 (envolvimento social) e .85 (felicidade).</p>

	    <p><i>Procedimento</i></p>

	    <p>Depois de concedida autoriza&#231;&atilde;o pelos autores do question&aacute;rio, procedemos &agrave; sua tradu&#231;&atilde;o e adapta&#231;&atilde;o, de acordo com a metodologia que se descreve de seguida: a) tradu&#231;&atilde;o do question&aacute;rio para o idioma Portugu&ecirc;s; b) retrovers&atilde;o para a l&iacute;ngua Inglesa por um tradutor independente; c) compara&#231;&atilde;o das duas vers&otilde;es do question&aacute;rio, discuss&atilde;o e correc&#231;&atilde;o das eventuais diferen&#231;as existentes entre elas; e d) aplica&#231;&atilde;o da vers&atilde;o final de consenso &agrave; popula&#231;&atilde;o alvo &#45; estudo piloto (n = 16). Ap&oacute;s o preenchimento da escala, os indiv&iacute;duos foram questionados sobre: compreens&atilde;o e pertin&ecirc;ncia das quest&otilde;es, facilidade e tempo de preenchimento. Todos os respondentes referiram boa compreens&atilde;o e aceita&#231;&atilde;o das quest&otilde;es apresentadas. O tempo m&eacute;dio de realiza&#231;&atilde;o foi de 5 minutos.</p>

	    <p>A EMMBEP foi posteriormente submetida a uma aplica&#231;&atilde;o mais alargada, com vista &agrave; an&aacute;lise da sua aplicabilidade &agrave; popula&#231;&atilde;o Portuguesa, cujos resultados servem de objecto de estudo do presente trabalho.</p>

	    <p>Para recolha da amostra, foi utilizado um m&eacute;todo de amostragem por conveni&ecirc;ncia. A escala foi administrada em contexto de sala de aula, depois de fornecidas as instru&#231;&otilde;es de preenchimento e obten&#231;&atilde;o do consentimento informado.</p>

	    <p>&nbsp;</p>

	    <p><b>RESULTADOS</b></p>

	    ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>No que diz respeito aos resultados, referimo&#45;nos primeiramente &agrave; an&aacute;lise da distribui&#231;&atilde;o dos itens da escala. Em seguida, apresentamos os resultados referentes &agrave; dimensionalidade e consist&ecirc;ncia interna e conclu&iacute;mos com alguns contributos da an&aacute;lise factorial confirmat&oacute;ria.</p>

	    <p><b>An&aacute;lise da distribui&#231;&atilde;o dos itens</b></p>

	    <p>Os resultados da an&aacute;lise de distribui&#231;&atilde;o das respostas aos 25 itens que integram a EMMBEP apresentam&#45;se no Quadro 1. Os resultados da an&aacute;lise descritiva reportam&#45;se &agrave; variabilidade e &agrave;s medidas de tend&ecirc;ncia central dos itens (valores m&iacute;nimos e m&aacute;ximos, 1.&#186; e 3.&#186; quartis, valores de moda e mediana).</p>

	    <p>Os resultados da an&aacute;lise descritiva evidenciam uma distribui&#231;&atilde;o bastante adequada dos itens em estudo, com os valores m&iacute;nimos e m&aacute;ximos a oscilarem entre 1 e 5 (os valores extremados da distribui&#231;&atilde;o) em todos os itens (excepto no item 6). Os valores da moda e da mediana oscilaram entre 3 e 4 na quase totalidade dos itens. Apenas 3 dos 23 itens apresentaram valores m&aacute;ximos extremos (itens 6, 12 e 13). Os valores para o 1.&#186; quartil oscilaram entre 3 e 4 e os valores para o 3.&#186; quartil oscilaram entre 4 e 5 (os itens 6, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15 e 16 apresentam o valor m&aacute;ximo). Os resultados sugerem assim uma maior concentra&#231;&atilde;o das respostas dos sujeitos da amostra junto dos valores mais elevados da distribui&#231;&atilde;o.</p>

	    <p><b>Dimensionalidade e consist&ecirc;ncia interna</b></p>

	    <p>Para o estudo da validade interna recorremos ao modelo da an&aacute;lise factorial explorat&oacute;ria (m&eacute;todo de An&aacute;lise em Componentes Principais &#150; ACP), com rota&#231;&atilde;o obl&iacute;qua e especifica&#231;&atilde;o de factores (cf. Quadro 2).</p>

	    <p>Com base nos crit&eacute;rios contemplados na aprecia&#231;&atilde;o das solu&#231;&otilde;es factoriais, a solu&#231;&atilde;o seleccionada corresponde a uma estrutura de seis factores distintos, respons&aacute;veis por 65.62% da vari&acirc;ncia total. A estrutura final define&#45;se por seis factores que traduzem: felicidade (Factor I), sociabilidade (Factor II), controlo de si e dos acontecimentos (Factor III), envolvimento social (Factor IV), auto&#45;estima (Factor V) e equil&iacute;brio (Factor VI).</p>

	    <p>O Factor I (felicidade), respons&aacute;vel por 17.03% da vari&acirc;ncia total, &eacute; constitu&iacute;do por 8 itens, que se relacionam com o sentimento de felicidade (exemplo de item: &#8220;Senti&#45;me bem, em paz comigo pr&oacute;prio&#8221;).</p>

	    <p>O Factor II (sociabilidade), respons&aacute;vel por 11.60% da vari&acirc;ncia total, &eacute; constitu&iacute;do por 4 itens, que dizem respeito a aspectos de sociabilidade (exemplo de item: &#8220;Relacionei&#45;me facilmente com as pessoas &agrave; minha volta&#8221;).</p>

	    <p>O Factor III (controlo de si e dos acontecimentos), respons&aacute;vel por 11.28% da vari&acirc;ncia total, &eacute; constitu&iacute;do por 3 itens, que se relacionam com sensa&#231;&atilde;o de controlo de si e dos acontecimentos (exemplo de item: &#8220;Fui capaz de enfrentar situa&#231;&otilde;es dif&iacute;ceis de uma forma positiva.&#8221;).</p>

	    <p>O Factor IV (envolvimento social), respons&aacute;vel por 8.83% da vari&acirc;ncia total, &eacute; constitu&iacute;do por 3 itens e diz respeito a aspectos de envolvimento e motiva&#231;&atilde;o (exemplo de item: &#8221;Tive objectivos e ambi&#231;&otilde;es&#8221;).</p>

	    <p>O Factor V (auto&#45;estima), respons&aacute;vel por 8.52% da vari&acirc;ncia total, &eacute; constitu&iacute;do por 4 itens e est&aacute; relacionado com a auto&#45;estima (exemplo de item: &#8220;Senti que os outros gostavam de mim e me apreciavam&#8221;).</p>

<body><![CDATA[<p>O Factor VI (equil&iacute;brio), respons&aacute;vel por 8.362% da vari&acirc;ncia total, &eacute; constitu&iacute;do por 3 itens e relaciona&#45;se com a sensa&#231;&atilde;o de equil&iacute;brio (exemplo de item:&#8221;A minha vida foi bem equilibrada, entre as minhas actividades familiares, pessoais e acad&eacute;micas&#8221;).</p>

	    <p>Em seguida, procedemos &agrave; compara&#231;&atilde;o dos itens das solu&#231;&otilde;es factoriais de Mass&eacute; et al. (1998) e por n&oacute;s encontrada. Embora a estrutura factorial obtida na vers&atilde;o portuguesa n&atilde;o tenha replicado, na totalidade, a estrutura factorial original, &eacute; de salientar a elevada concord&acirc;ncia e similaridade verificada, quer relativamente &agrave; estrutura subjacente do instrumento, quer quanto &agrave; inclus&atilde;o da maioria dos itens nos factores obtidos. Efectivamente, as diferen&#231;as existentes resumem&#45;se ao facto de os itens 5, 12 e 20 se inclu&iacute;rem, no nosso estudo, no factor felicidade, enquanto no estudo original se distribu&iacute;am pelos factores equil&iacute;brio, envolvimento social e controlo de si e dos acontecimentos, respectivamente. De qualquer forma e dada a descri&#231;&atilde;o dos itens (item 5: &#8220;Senti&#45;me emocionalmente equilibrado&#8221;, item 12: &#8220;Senti&#45;me bem a divertir&#45;me, a fazer desporto e a participar em todas as minhas actividades e passatempos preferidos&#8221; e item 20: &#8220;Estive bastante calmo&#8221;), a sua inclus&atilde;o no factor felicidade pareceu&#45;nos apropriada.</p>

	    <p>Definidos os factores e os itens que os integram, apresentamos, de seguida, os resultados da an&aacute;lise de consist&ecirc;ncia interna (correla&#231;&otilde;es item&#45;total corrigido, alpha de Cronbach e validade convergente &#45; discriminante do item). No Quadro 3 apresentamos os resultados item a item em termos de coeficiente de correla&#231;&atilde;o do item com o total da subescala (coeficiente corrigido) e o contributo do item para o alpha da sub&#45;escala.</p>

	    <p>Atrav&eacute;s da an&aacute;lise do Quadro 3, podemos constatar que as correla&#231;&otilde;es item&#45;total corrigido variaram entre .36 (item 6) e .78 (item 22), havendo portanto homogeneidade dos itens constituintes da escala. Relativamente &agrave; contribui&#231;&atilde;o de cada item para o valor de alpha de Cronbach, &eacute; poss&iacute;vel referir que, em rela&#231;&atilde;o aos factores felicidade, sociabilidade, controlo de si e dos acontecimentos e auto&#45;estima, os itens contribu&iacute;ram de forma mais ou menos igual para o valor de alpha de Cronbach, j&aacute; que as diminui&#231;&otilde;es dos valores foram relativamente compar&aacute;veis &agrave; medida que os itens foram individualmente removidos da escala. No que diz respeito aos factores envolvimento social e equil&iacute;brio, h&aacute; que salientar que a remo&#231;&atilde;o dos itens 11 e 6 implica um aumento significativo no valor de alpha de Cronbach. Apesar disso, optou&#45;se por manter os itens na escala, por serem relevantes do ponto de vista te&oacute;rico e dado o n&uacute;mero reduzido de itens constituintes das subescalas a que pertencem.</p>

	    <p>Os valores de alpha de Cronbach encontrados para os factores e para a nota global da escala s&atilde;o na sua maioria muito adequados, uma vez que variam entre .67 (envolvimento social) e .89 (felicidade).</p>

	    <p>Apresentamos em seguida os dados relativos &agrave; validade convergente &#45; discriminante dos itens da EMMBEP. Os resultados s&atilde;o apresentados no Quadro 4.</p>

	    <p>A observa&#231;&atilde;o do Quadro 4 mostra que, na maioria dos itens, o &iacute;ndice de discrimina&#231;&atilde;o &eacute; superior a 20 pontos entre a magnitude da correla&#231;&atilde;o com a escala a que pertence e a magnitude do valor da correla&#231;&atilde;o com as outras escalas. De salientar que, no caso dos itens 1, 2, 3 e 4, com especial &ecirc;nfase para o item 1 (&#8220;Senti&#45;me confiante&#8221;), o poder discriminativo deste em rela&#231;&atilde;o &agrave; escala a que pertence &#150; auto&#45;estima &#150; e &agrave; felicidade &eacute; muito baixo.</p>

	    <p>No que se refere &agrave;s correla&#231;&otilde;es entre a nota da escala total e as notas das sub&#45;escalas que comp&otilde;em a EMMBEP, verifica&#45;se que, de entre todas as sub&#45;escalas, &eacute; a felicidade que se destaca como sendo aquela que melhor explica o bem&#45;estar psicol&oacute;gico (r<sup>2</sup> = .85), sendo seguida pela sociabilidade (r<sup>2</sup> = .61), controlo (r<sup>2</sup> = .59) e auto&#45;estima (r<sup>2</sup> = .58). Com menor poder explicativo, encontramos o envolvimento (r<sup>2</sup> = .42) e o equil&iacute;brio (r<sup>2</sup> = .40).</p>

	    <p><b>Contributos da an&aacute;lise factorial confirmat&oacute;ria</b></p>

	    <p>De acordo com Mass&eacute; et al. (1998), a EMMBEP foi constru&iacute;da como uma escala de seis factores, pelo que utiliz&aacute;mos a metodologia de equa&#231;&otilde;es estruturais num modelo confirmat&oacute;rio de ordem 1 com 25 vari&aacute;veis observadas e 6 vari&aacute;veis latentes ou factores (felicidade, sociabilidade, controlo de si e dos acontecimentos, envolvimento social, auto&#45;estima e equil&iacute;brio).</p>

	    <p>Foram calculados os coeficientes estandardizados dos itens referentes aos v&aacute;rios factores verificando&#45;se que todos eles s&atilde;o significativos (p &lt; .001), evidenciando&#45;se a estrutura de seis factores. Apenas um item (item 6) apresenta valor inferior a .50 (cf. Quadro 5).</p>

	    <p>No que diz respeito &agrave; felicidade, todos os itens s&atilde;o indicadores fortes deste factor. O item 12 &eacute; o que apresenta o valor mais baixo (26.52%) e o item 22 &eacute; o que apresenta o valor mais elevado (68.56%) de variabilidade explicada. Relativamente &agrave; sociabilidade, este factor reflecte&#45;se em todos os itens de forma evidente, explicando desde 43.03% do item 15 a 66.59% do item 13. O mesmo se verifica com o controlo de si e dos acontecimentos, que explica desde 60.68% do item 19 a 72.93% do item 17. Em rela&#231;&atilde;o ao envolvimento social, verificamos que este tamb&eacute;m se reflecte em todos os itens. O item 11 &eacute; que apresenta o valor mais baixo (27.88%) e o item 10 &eacute; o que apresenta o valor mais elevado (51.55%). Relativamente &agrave; auto&#45;estima, verificamos tamb&eacute;m que todos os itens s&atilde;o indicadores fortes deste factor, sendo que o item 2 apresenta o valor mais baixo (43.82%) e o item 1 apresenta o valor mais elevado (68.72%) de variabilidade explicada. Finalmente, em rela&#231;&atilde;o ao equil&iacute;brio, constatamos que o item 6 n&atilde;o &eacute; um indicador forte do factor, apresentando um coeficiente de regress&atilde;o de .49. O factor reflecte&#45;se, no entanto, de forma evidente nos itens 7 e 8, que apresentam 47.47% e 73.27% de variabilidade explicada, respectivamente.</p>

	    <p>Utiliz&aacute;mos como indicadores de consist&ecirc;ncia interna (com base na metodologia das equa&#231;&otilde;es estruturais) o alpha de Cronbach, a fiabilidade composta (F.C.) e a vari&acirc;ncia extra&iacute;da (V.Ext) (cf. Quadro 6). Todos os valores est&atilde;o pr&oacute;ximos ou acima dos desej&aacute;veis (&#945;&nbsp; &gt; . 60, F.C. &gt; . 70 e V.Ext. &gt; . 50). Os valores mais baixos verificam&#45;se ao n&iacute;vel da vari&acirc;ncia extra&iacute;da dos factores envolvimento social e equil&iacute;brio.</p>

	    <p>No sentido de aumentar a compreensibilidade acerca da validade discriminante dos factores (Fornell &amp; Larcker, 1981), procedemos &agrave; compara&#231;&atilde;o das vari&acirc;ncias extra&iacute;das de cada factor com o quadrado do correspondente coeficiente de correla&#231;&atilde;o (r<sup>2</sup>) entre os factores (cf. Quadro 7). Verific&aacute;mos que as vari&acirc;ncias extra&iacute;das superam o valor de r<sup>2</sup> no que diz respeito &agrave; sociabilidade, ao controlo de si e dos acontecimentos, ao envolvimento social, &agrave; auto&#45;estima e ao equil&iacute;brio. Desta forma, podemos afirmar que existe validade discriminante, isto &eacute;, cada um destes constructos est&aacute; a avaliar conceitos distintos. Em rela&#231;&atilde;o &agrave; felicidade essa distin&#231;&atilde;o n&atilde;o &eacute; t&atilde;o evidente, especialmente, com os factores controlo de si e dos acontecimentos e auto&#45;estima.</p>

	    <p>Os &iacute;ndices de ajustamento do modelo de 6 factores indicam globalmente um ajustamento aceit&aacute;vel do modelo (<i>Chi&#45;square</i> = 810.57; <i>RMSEA</i> = .07, <i>CFI</i> = .91, <i>GFI</i> = .87, <i>NFI</i> =.87).</p>

	    <p><b>DISCUSSÃO</b></p>

	    <p>Com a an&aacute;lise da distribui&#231;&atilde;o dos itens, o estudo da dimensionalidade e consist&ecirc;ncia interna e os contributos da an&aacute;lise factorial confirmat&oacute;ria, tivemos como objectivo analisar as caracter&iacute;sticas psicom&eacute;tricas da EMMBEP, instrumento desenvolvido com a finalidade da operacionaliza&#231;&atilde;o do constructo de bem&#45;estar psicol&oacute;gico.</p>

	    <p>&nbsp;A este prop&oacute;sito, salientamos que o instrumento analisado possui caracter&iacute;sticas psicom&eacute;tricas adequadas em termos de validade e fidelidade. De forma concordante com a vers&atilde;o original, obtivemos uma estrutura de seis factores: felicidade, sociabilidade, controlo de si e dos acontecimentos, envolvimento social, auto&#45;estima e equil&iacute;brio, respons&aacute;veis por 65.62% da vari&acirc;ncia total. A an&aacute;lise factorial confirmat&oacute;ria efectuada confere apoio a esta estrutura de seis factores do instrumento, sendo que este modelo demonstra um ajustamento aceit&aacute;vel aos dados. No que se refere &agrave; consist&ecirc;ncia interna, verific&aacute;mos que os valores encontrados para os diversos indicadores analisados (alpha de Cronbach, fiabilidade composta e vari&acirc;ncia extra&iacute;da) est&atilde;o pr&oacute;ximos ou acima dos desej&aacute;veis. Os factores envolvimento social e equil&iacute;brio s&atilde;o os que exibem os valores de consist&ecirc;ncia interna mais reduzidos, ainda que aceit&aacute;veis.</p>

<body><![CDATA[<p>A EMMBEP apresenta&#45;se assim como um instrumento adequado para avaliar o bem&#45;estar psicol&oacute;gico em estudantes universit&aacute;rios. Todavia, &eacute; de referir que os estudos psicom&eacute;tricos apresentados foram realizados junto de apenas uma amostra, impondo&#45;se nova aplica&#231;&atilde;o junto de outra amostra, de acordo com as recomenda&#231;&otilde;es de Almeida e Freire (2007). Adicionalmente, recomenda&#45;se a realiza&#231;&atilde;o de estudos futuros em que se avalie a fidelidade teste&#45;reteste da EMMBEP, bem como a validade convergente com outras medidas.</p>
