Para tanto se utilizou a faixa etária II do teste que compreende crianças de sete e oito anos de idade. Considerou-se como ambientes diferentes as zonas rural (rodoviária e ribeirinha) e urbana (norte, sul, leste, oeste, centro-sul e centro-oeste) da cidade de Manaus. Participaram do estudo 240 crianças de ambos os sexos, as quais executaram os testes de habilidades manuais, com bola e de equilíbrio. Os resultados, analisados por meio dos testes de Kruskal Wallis e U de Mann Whitney, mostraram que as crianças das zonas rural e urbana tiveram desempenhos semelhantes, tanto no escore total do teste quanto nos testes específicos das habilidades manuais, com bola e de equilíbrio. O mesmo foi observado quando se comparou o desempenho das crianças das subzonas norte, sul, leste, oeste, centro-sul, centro-oeste, rodoviária e ribeirinha. A partir desses resultados pôde-se concluir que o teste ABC do movimento é aplicável na avaliação de crianças de ambientes diferentes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The aim of this study was to investigate the applicability of the Movement ABC Test (9), in children from different contexts. The focus was on the battery test for children aged band II (seven to eight years of age). The contexts were rural (near the river) an urban (north, south, east, west, center-south and center-west) regions of the city of Manaus, north of Brazil. Participated of the study 240 children of both sex, which performed the tests of manual, ball, and balance skills. Results were analyzed by Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U test. They showed that the children from both contexts had similar performance in total scores as well as in specific parts of the battery (manual skills, ball skills and balance skills). Further comparisons among parts of the urban region with the parts of rural region yielded similar results, that is, children do not differ in their performance. Overall, there seems to be evidence that the movement ABC test is robust enough to be applicable in the evaluating of children from different contexts.]]></p></abstract>
