São discutidos os desafios que o novo Presidente dos Estados Unidos irá enfrentar para descarbonizar o país num contexto doméstico complexo, bem como as perspetivas em torno da sua política externa climática e as oportunidades associadas a uma conjuntura internacional marcada pelo anúncio recente de metas de neutralidade carbónica por parte de alguns dos principais emissores mundiais de gases de efeito estufa.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This article offers an overview of the current global climate governance landscape and briefly analyses the environmental agenda of Joe Biden&#8217;s administration. It discusses the challenges that the new president will face to decarbonize the country amid a complex domestic context as well as the prospects surrounding his foreign climate policy and the opportunities arising from an international environment marked by the recent announcement of carbon neutrality targets by some of the world&#8217;s main greenhouse gas emitters.]]></p></abstract>
