O Método Pilates® surge como forma de condicionamento físico interessado em proporcionar bem-estar geral ao indivíduo, e capaz de proporcionar força, flexibilidade, boa postura, controle motor, consciência e percepção corporal melhorada. Objetivo: analisar a influência do método Pilates® sobre a resistência de força na flexão de braço e em exercício abdominal em mulheres submetidas a uma intervenção de nove semanas. Metodologia: o estudo foi composto por 12 voluntárias do sexo feminino com idade entre 25 e 40 anos. Os testes realizados foram o de abdominal e flexão de braço. O grupo foi submetido a um pré e um pós-teste, havendo um período de nove semanas entre cada uma das avaliações. Entre os pré e pós-teste, o grupo foi submetido a três sessões semanais de treinamento de 50 minutos cada com o Método Pilates®. Resultados: foi verificada diferença significativa entre o pré e o pós-teste (p < 0.05), demonstrando assim uma melhora no pós-teste em relação aos valores encontrados no pré-teste. Discussão: a prática do Método Pilates® tende a se apresentar como um importante aliado na promoção da saúde e indicando possibilidade de ganhos no que se refere à melhora no perfil dos padrões de resistência de força dos praticantes da atividade]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Back Ground: several studies investigate the relation of the lack of exercises and the factor of risk for diverse pathologies, and the relation of active style of life as protection factor the risk the health. The Pilates® Method appears as form of interested physical conditioning in providing general individual wellness, and capable to provide force, flexibility, good position, motor control, body conscience and improved corporal perception. Objective: to analyze the Pilates® method influence on the resistance of force in the arm flex and abdominal exercise in women submitted a nine weeks intervention. Methodology: the study he was composed for 12 feminine volunteers with age between 25 and 40 years. The carried through tests had been of the abdominal and arm flex. The group was submitted to a pre-test and a after-test, having had a period of nine weeks between each one of the evaluations. Between the pre and after-test, the group was submitted the three weekly sessions of training of 50 minutes each with the Pilates® Method. Results: it was verified significant difference between pre and after-test (p < 0.05), thus demonstrating an improvement in the after-test in relation to the values found in the pre-test.
