Participaram do estudo 19 homens atletas de MMA (27.68 ± 6.19 anos). A coleta de dados referentes às cargas de trabalho no SH foi realizada em dois momentos: 1) no teste de 1-RM; 2) no teste submáximo e seus respetivos números de repetições. Verificou-se por meio do teste t de Student para amostras pareadas que, dentre as seis equações comparadas com o teste de 1-RM, apenas as de Adams (p= 0.337) e O&#8217;Conner (p= 0.250) não apresentaram diferenças significativas; todavia, houve uma elevada correlação de Pearson e um elevado índice de correlação intraclasse (r= 0.924, ICC= 0.924; r= 0.944, ICC= 0.944), respetivamente. Entretanto, todas as equações apresentaram altas correlações que variaram entre 0.856 e 0.944. Conclui-se que para uma estimativa dos valores de 1-RM, as equações preditivas de Adams e O&#8217;Conner são válidas em atletas de MMA.]]></p></abstract>

The sample was composed by 19 male MMA athletes (27.68 ± 6.19 years). The data collection was performed in two different moments: 1) in 1-RM test; 2) in submaximal test and their respective numbers of repetitions. The paired-sample t test was performed and was noted that, among the six equations compared with the 1-RM test, only the Adams (p= 0.337) and O&#8217;Conner&#8217;s (p= 0.250) equations showed no significant differences. However, there were high Pearson correlation and intraclass correlation coefficients (r= 0.924, ICC= 0.924; r= 0.944, ICC= 0.944), respectively. Nevertheless, all equations showed high correlations that ranged between 0.854 and 0.944. In conclusion, for estimation of 1-RM, the predictive equations based on Adams and O'Conner&#8217;s are valid in MMA athletes.</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana"><b>Keywords: </b>bench press, prediction equations, 1-RM test, mixed martial arts</font></p> <hr noshade size="1">     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><b><font size="3" face="Verdana">INTRODU&#199;&#195;O</font></b></p> <font size="2" face="Verdana">     <p>O treino com pesos (TP) &#233; classicamente utilizado para   aumentar a massa muscular, resist&#234;ncia, for&#231;a e pot&#234;ncia muscular de seus praticantes   (American College of Sports Medicine [ACSM], 2009b); entretanto, recentemente   este tipo de treino vem tamb&#233;m sendo amplamente utilizado para a redu&#231;&#227;o   ponderal (ACSM, 2009a). Nesse sentido, existem in&#250;meras vari&#225;veis agudas que   devem ser levadas em considera&#231;&#227;o quanto &#224; prescri&#231;&#227;o deste tipo de treino,   como a velocidade de execu&#231;&#227;o do movimento, a&#231;&#245;es musculares, n&#250;mero de s&#233;ries   e repeti&#231;&#245;es, intensidade das cargas, intervalo de recupera&#231;&#227;o entre s&#233;ries e   exerc&#237;cios, sele&#231;&#227;o e ordem dos exerc&#237;cios, dura&#231;&#227;o da sess&#227;o, al&#233;m da   frequ&#234;ncia semanal (ACSM, 2009b). Dentre estas vari&#225;veis, a intensidade de carga tem sido a mais investigada (Shimano et al., 2006).</p>     <p>Em rela&#231;&#227;o &#224; prescri&#231;&#227;o da carga ideal de treino em termos   percentuais, existem diferentes m&#233;todos que podem ser utilizados, dentre os   quais podemos citar a perce&#231;&#227;o subjetiva de esfor&#231;o, teste de repeti&#231;&#245;es   m&#225;ximas e teste de uma repeti&#231;&#227;o m&#225;xima (1-RM). Para a identifica&#231;&#227;o da carga   m&#225;xima, o m&#233;todo de avalia&#231;&#227;o mais utilizado &#233; o teste de 1-RM, que consiste no   deslocamento da maior carga poss&#237;vel realizado com base em par&#226;metros corretos   de postura corporal, definidos para um determinado tipo de exerc&#237;cio (Dias et   al., 2005). O protocolo de 1-RM &#233; um m&#233;todo seguro do ponto de vista ortop&#233;dico   e cardiovascular (Dias et al., 2013); entretanto, esse protocolo &#233; muito   extenso e geralmente provoca desconforto muscular no avaliado. Sob essa   perspetiva, os pesquisadores come&#231;aram a desenvolver outros m&#233;todos que   permitissem definir a carga correta, mas sem que houvesse a necessidade de realizar o longo protocolo de 1-RM (Dias et al., 2005).</p>     <p>Nesta perspetiva, v&#225;rios protocolos de testes subm&#225;ximos   (Adams, 1994; Baechle & Groves, 2000; Brzycki, 1993; Epley, 1995; Lander,   1985; O&#8217;Conner, Simmons, & O&#8217;Shea, 1989) que utilizam equa&#231;&#245;es preditivas   para estimativa do valor de 1-RM foram desenvolvidos, sendo posteriormente   demonstrado a acur&#225;cia e precis&#227;o em homens adultos sedent&#225;rios ou moderadamente   ativos (Nascimento et al., 2007), estudantes destreinados (LeSuer, McCormick,   Mayhew, Wasserstein, & Arnold, 1997), homens treinados (Lacio et al., 2010;   Men&#234;ses et al., 2013), mulheres destreinadas (Cummings & Finn, 1998), jogadores   de futebol (Whisenant, Panton, East, & Broeder, 2003) e idosos (Knutzen,   Brilla, & Caine, 1999). Todavia, nenhum estudo foi encontrado utilizando as   equa&#231;&#245;es preditivas em atletas de artes marciais mistas (MMA), sendo necess&#225;ria   a investiga&#231;&#227;o nessa popula&#231;&#227;o, j&#225; que este desporto vem ganhando aten&#231;&#227;o por   parte da comunidade cient&#237;fica (Amtmann, 2004; Amtmann, Amtmann, & Spath,   2008; Del Vecchio & Ferreira, 2013; Del Vecchio, Hirata, & Franchini,   2011; Jensen, Roman, Shaft, & Wrisberg, 2013; McClain et al., 2014; Schick   et al., 2010), e nessa atividade s&#227;o solicitados altos n&#237;veis de for&#231;a m&#225;xima e   resist&#234;ncia de for&#231;a (James, Kelly, & Beckman, 2013). Assim, para avaliar a   resist&#234;ncia de for&#231;a (for&#231;a subm&#225;xima) nesta modalidade desportiva &#233; indicada a utiliza&#231;&#227;o de testes subm&#225;ximos (Tack, 2013).</p>     <p>De acordo com James et al. (2013) no processo de   periodiza&#231;&#227;o do treino de atletas de MMA, as cargas devem ser planeadas e com   base na capacidade do indiv&#237;duo; dessa forma, os autores recomendam aplicar uma   bateria de testes fisiol&#243;gicos para monitoramento dos atletas e dentre os   testes deve-se avaliar a for&#231;a din&#226;mica de membros superiores atrav&#233;s do supino   horizontal (SH), para a prescri&#231;&#227;o do TP e programa&#231;&#227;o da intensidade das   cargas (%1-RM); consecutivamente dias leves e pesados s&#227;o inclu&#237;dos no treino,   fornecendo razo&#225;vel varia&#231;&#227;o de intensidade, o que maximiza a recupera&#231;&#227;o e as   adapta&#231;&#245;es. Sendo assim, o objetivo do presente estudo foi verificar a validade de diferentes equa&#231;&#245;es preditivas de 1-RM no exerc&#237;cio SH em atletas de MMA.</p> </font>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><b><font size="3" face="Verdana">M&#201;TODO</font></b></p> <font size="2" face="Verdana">     <p>Este estudo apresenta um delineamento    transversal e abordagem quantitativa. Neste tipo de delineamento, a identifica&#231;&#227;o e a rela&#231;&#227;o entre as vari&#225;veis s&#227;o determinadas num per&#237;odo determinado de tempo, e a exposi&#231;&#227;o ao fator ou causa est&#227;o presentes no momento ou intervalo em que for analisado (Hochman, Nahas, Filho, & Ferreira, 2005).</p> </font>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana"><b>Participantes</b></font></p> <font size="2" face="Verdana">     <p>Este estudo teve como amostra 19 atletas de MMA, todos do   sexo masculino, conforme caracter&#237;sticas descritivas apresentadas na <a href="/img/revistas/mot/v10n4/10n04a06t1.jpg">Tabela 1</a>.   Todos os sujeitos da pesquisa estavam matriculados numa academia de gin&#225;stica   na cidade de Jo&#227;o Pessoa, Para&#237;ba, Brasil. A escolha da academia e   consecutivamente dos sujeitos foi realizada de forma aleat&#243;ria. O presente   estudo teve como crit&#233;rios de inclus&#227;o: ser homem com idade entre 18 a 45 anos,   responder negativamente a todos os itens do PAR-Q (Canadian Society for   Exercise Physiology [CSEP], 2002), estar realizando TP regularmente h&#225; no   m&#237;nimo seis meses e tr&#234;s vezes por semana, e n&#227;o estar fazendo uso de esteroides   anabolizantes. Foram exclu&#237;dos da amostra os sujeitos que fizessem o consumo de   medicamentos, bebidas alco&#243;licas e/ou fumo, e apresentassem algum relato de doen&#231;a e/ou agravante osteomuscular.</p>     
<p>O presente estudo foi aprovado pelo Comit&#234; de &#201;tica em   Pesquisa da Universidade Federal da Para&#237;ba (Processo n.&#186; 66/13) e todos os indiv&#237;duos   assinaram o Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido, sendo apresentados,   nesse momento, os objetivos da pesquisa e procedimentos a adoptar, bem como   informados os poss&#237;veis riscos e benef&#237;cios do estudo, al&#233;m do anonimato e confidencialidade dos dados.</p> </font>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana"><b>Instrumentos e Procedimentos</b></font><font size="2" face="Verdana">    <p>Os sujeitos foram orientados para que n&#227;o praticassem nenhum   tipo de exerc&#237;cio f&#237;sico nas 24 horas que antecedessem os testes, sendo avaliados   sempre no mesmo hor&#225;rio. As coletas foram distribu&#237;das em tr&#234;s sess&#245;es,   respetivamente: medidas antropom&#233;tricas, teste de 1-RM e teste de repeti&#231;&#245;es   m&#225;ximas. O intervalo entre a primeira e segunda visita foi de 72 horas e entre a segunda e terceira foi de 48 horas.</p>     <p>Utilizou-se uma balan&#231;a da Soehnle<sup>&#174;</sup>, com precis&#227;o   de 100 g, para obten&#231;&#227;o da massa corporal (kg); estadi&#243;metro da Sanny<sup>&#174;</sup>,   com precis&#227;o de 0.05 mm para estatura (cm); adip&#243;metro cient&#237;fico Sanny<sup>&#174;</sup> com precis&#227;o de 0.1 mm e resolu&#231;&#227;o de 1 mm para mensura&#231;&#227;o das dobras cut&#226;neas.   O &#237;ndice de massa corporal (IMC) foi calculado dividindo-se a massa corporal      pela estatura ao quadrado (kg/m&#178;). O protocolo utilizado para predi&#231;&#227;o da   densidade corporal foi o de tr&#234;s dobras cut&#226;neas (peitoral, abdominal e coxa   m&#233;dia) de Jackson e Pollock (1978). Em seguida, para estimativa do percentual   de gordura (%), utilizou-se a equa&#231;&#227;o de Siri (1961). As vari&#225;veis foram coletadas de acordo com os procedimentos   padronizados pelo International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK, 2001).</p> </font>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Para execu&#231;&#227;o do exerc&#237;cio SH utilizou-se um banco da marca   Lion Fitness<sup>&#174;</sup>, uma barra de ferro de 20 kg e 180 cm de comprimento,   com &#225;rea &#250;til de pegada de 120 cm, e anilhas de 1 a 20 kg. O movimento foi   realizado com a pega na barra estabelecida de acordo com a dist&#226;ncia entre os   ombros, o volunt&#225;rio em dec&#250;bito dorsal, ombros posicionados a 90&#186; de abdu&#231;&#227;o,   bra&#231;os paralelos ao ch&#227;o e a articula&#231;&#227;o do cotovelo com um &#226;ngulo de 90&#176; de flex&#227;o.   A amplitude do movimento na fase exc&#234;ntrica foi controlada por um anteparo de 4   cm colocado sobre o ponto esterno do indiv&#237;duo; ap&#243;s tocar nesse anteparo a   barra foi levantada verticalmente at&#233; a extens&#227;o completa dos cotovelos, caracterizando assim uma repeti&#231;&#227;o.</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Com o objetivo de reduzir a margem de erro nos testes de   1-RM e repeti&#231;&#245;es m&#225;ximas foram adotados os seguintes procedimentos: instru&#231;&#245;es   padronizadas foram fornecidas antes dos testes, de modo que o avaliado estivesse   ciente de toda a rotina; o sujeito foi instru&#237;do sobre o posicionamento e   t&#233;cnica de execu&#231;&#227;o do exerc&#237;cio, inclusive realizando-o algumas vezes sem   carga, para reduzir um poss&#237;vel efeito de aprendizagem nos escores obtidos.   Todos os sujeitos permaneceram sem treinar os grupos musculares utilizados por   um per&#237;odo de 48 horas antes da realiza&#231;&#227;o dos testes, n&#227;o havendo tamb&#233;m nesse per&#237;odo treino de nenhuma modalidade de arte marcial.</font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font size="2" face="Verdana"><i>Teste de 1-RM</i></font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Para a avalia&#231;&#227;o da for&#231;a m&#225;xima no SH foi utilizado o teste   de 1-RM segundo o protocolo de Dias et al. (2005). O protocolo iniciou-se com   uma s&#233;rie de aquecimento (6 a 10 repeti&#231;&#245;es), com aproximadamente 50% da carga   a ser utilizada na primeira tentativa de 1-RM. Ap&#243;s dois minutos foram   realizadas tr&#234;s tentativas com cargas progressivas, com intervalo de tr&#234;s a   cinco minutos entre as tentativas. Os sujeitos foram orientados para tentar   completar duas repeti&#231;&#245;es; por&#233;m, a carga registada como 1-RM foi aquela na   qual foi poss&#237;vel ao indiv&#237;duo completar somente uma &#250;nica repeti&#231;&#227;o dentro do padr&#227;o do movimento.</font></p>     <p><i><font size="2" face="Verdana">Teste de repeti&#231;&#245;es m&#225;ximas</font></i></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Para avaliar a for&#231;a subm&#225;xima foi utilizado o teste de   repeti&#231;&#245;es m&#225;ximas com a carga a 80% de 1-RM. Ap&#243;s dois minutos da realiza&#231;&#227;o   do mesmo protocolo de aquecimento do teste de 1-RM, os sujeitos foram   orientados a executar o m&#225;ximo de repeti&#231;&#245;es poss&#237;veis at&#233; que se configurasse a falha conc&#234;ntrica.</font></p>     <p><i><font size="2" face="Verdana">Modelos matem&#225;ticos</font></i></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Na literatura existe um elevado n&#250;mero de estudos com   equa&#231;&#245;es preditivas, por&#233;m, n&#227;o apresentam indicadores adequados para atletas   de MMA. Dessa forma, para efeito de valida&#231;&#227;o cruzada (teste de 1-RM &#215; equa&#231;&#245;es preditivas), optou-se pelos modelos   matem&#225;ticos descritos na <a href="/img/revistas/mot/v10n4/10n04a06t2.jpg">Tabela 2</a> e propostos por Adams (1994), Baechle e Groves (2000), Brzycki (1993), Epley (1995), Lander (1985), e O&#8217;Conner, Simmons e O&#8217;Shea (1989).</font></p>     
<p><b><font size="2" face="Verdana">An&#225;lise Estat&#237;stica</font></b></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana">A normalidade e homogeneidade dos dados foram confirmadas   pelo teste de Shapiro-Wilk e Levene, respetivamente. Utilizou-se o teste t de   Student para amostras pares para comparar os valores das equa&#231;&#245;es preditivas   com o teste de 1-RM, o coeficiente de correla&#231;&#227;o de Pearson e o coeficiente de   correla&#231;&#227;o intraclasse para investigar a rela&#231;&#227;o entre os valores de 1-RM   medidos e estimados. Os dados s&#227;o apresentados em m&#233;dia &#177; desvio padr&#227;o, com   n&#237;vel de signific&#226;ncia adotado de <i >p</i>< 0.05. As an&#225;lises foram realizadas no SPSS 16.0.</font></p>      <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="3" face="Verdana"><b>RESULTADOS</b></font></p> <font size="2" face="Verdana">     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>As caracter&#237;sticas descritivas e antropom&#233;tricas dos   sujeitos est&#227;o apresentadas na <a href="/img/revistas/mot/v10n4/10n04a06t1.jpg">Tabela 1</a>. Vale ressaltar a heterogeneidade dos   sujeitos investigados com rela&#231;&#227;o aos valores de idade, massa corporal e tempo   de treino. Em rela&#231;&#227;o &#224; avalia&#231;&#227;o da for&#231;a m&#225;xima e subm&#225;xima foi encontrada   uma carga m&#233;dia de 82.31 &#177; 10.79 kg com varia&#231;&#227;o de 66 a 100 kg no teste de   1-RM, e os sujeitos executaram 9.63 &#177; 2.06 repeti&#231;&#245;es com varia&#231;&#227;o entre 5 a 13 repeti&#231;&#245;es no teste de repeti&#231;&#245;es m&#225;ximas.</p>     
<p>Os valores de 1-RM medido e estimado pelas equa&#231;&#245;es   preditivas no exerc&#237;cio SH est&#227;o apresentados na <a href="/img/revistas/mot/v10n4/10n04a06t3.jpg">Tabela 3</a>. Pode-se observar que   as equa&#231;&#245;es propostas por Baechle e Groves (2000), Epley (1995), Brzycki (1993)   e Lander (1985), apresentam diferen&#231;as significativas entre os resultados   obtidos no teste de 1-RM; no entanto, as equa&#231;&#245;es de Adams (1994) (<i >p</i>= 0.337) e O&#8217;Conner et al. (1989) (<i >p</i>= 0.250) mostraram-se v&#225;lidas para uma estimativa   de 1-RM no SH em atletas de MMA. Adicionalmente, a equa&#231;&#227;o de Baechle e Groves   (2000) obteve a maior diferen&#231;a (6.7%) em rela&#231;&#227;o ao teste de 1-RM, todavia,   todas as equa&#231;&#245;es preditivas demostraram uma correla&#231;&#227;o positiva com o teste de   1-RM, sendo que a equa&#231;&#227;o de O&#8217;Conner et al. (1989) reportou o maior coeficiente de correla&#231;&#227;o (<i >r</i>= 0.944).</p> </font>     
<p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="3" face="Verdana"><b>DISCUSS&#195;O</b></font></p> <font size="2" face="Verdana">     <p>O presente estudo verificou a validade de diferentes   equa&#231;&#245;es preditivas de 1-RM no exerc&#237;cio SH em atletas de MMA. Assim, o   principal achado do presente estudo foi que apenas as equa&#231;&#245;es de Adams (1994)   e O&#8217;Conner et al. (1989) se mostraram confi&#225;veis para a estimativa de 1-RM em   atletas de MMA. Este desporto vem ganhando popularidade desde 1993, portanto &#233;   essencial avaliar a for&#231;a muscular din&#226;mica e isom&#233;trica m&#225;xima destes atletas (Kraemer, Vescovi, & Dixon, 2004; Schick et al., 2010).</p>     <p>Manso (1999) afirma que o teste de 1-RM &#233;    um m&#233;todo muito utilizado para a obten&#231;&#227;o da carga m&#225;xima nos exerc&#237;cios de   for&#231;a muscular. No entanto, devido a ser uma t&#233;cnica que utiliza cargas   m&#225;ximas, esta deve ser pensada antes de trabalhar com indiv&#237;duos iniciantes no   TP, crian&#231;as, adolescentes, adultos sedent&#225;rios, idosos, hipertensos, card&#237;acos   e nos casos de recupera&#231;&#227;o muscular (Manso, 1999; Pereira & Gomes, 2003).   Para isto, foram elaborados diferentes modelos matem&#225;ticos para a predi&#231;&#227;o da   carga m&#225;xima por meio do emprego de cargas subm&#225;ximas para aperfei&#231;oar a   obten&#231;&#227;o do 1-RM, tendo em vista, que essas equa&#231;&#245;es proporcionam, atualmente,   uma ampla utiliza&#231;&#227;o entre os profissionais que trabalham em academias e clubes   (Cummings & Finn, 1998), e principalmente com os que trabalham com este desporto de MMA que est&#225; em grande destaque no cen&#225;rio mundial.</p>     <p>Alguns estudos v&#234;m sendo desenvolvidos com esta popula&#231;&#227;o   (Amtmann, 2004; Amtmann et al., 2008; Del Vecchio & Ferreira, 2013; Del   Vecchio et al., 2011; James et al., 2013; Jensen et al., 2013; Marinho, Del Vecchio,   & Franchini, 2011; McClain et al., 2014; Schick et al., 2010; Tack, 2013),   no entanto, poucos estudos utilizaram apenas o teste de 1-RM em atletas de MMA   para avaliar a for&#231;a muscular (Del Vecchio & Ferreira, 2013; Marinho, et   al., 2011; Schick et al., 2010). Nesta perspetiva, o estudo de Del Vecchio e   Ferreira (2013) avaliou a for&#231;a m&#225;xima no SH e levantamento terra, tendo os   autores observado que a for&#231;a muscular dos lutadores (1-RM de 76.25&#177;10.61 kg no   SH e 115&#177;10.69 kg no levantamento terra) era insuficiente para esta modalidade desportiva.</p>     <p>Devido &#224; semelhan&#231;a da pesquisa de Del Vecchio e Ferreira   (2013) com o presente estudo, e de acordo com os valores de 1-RM encontrados   para o SH (82.31 &#177; 10.79), acredita-se que a for&#231;a dos lutadores tamb&#233;m n&#227;o   seja suficiente para esta modalidade. Este facto pode ser explicado em raz&#227;o   dos atletas profissionais n&#227;o comporem o grupo de elite. Ainda neste cen&#225;rio,   Marinho et al. (2011) mediram a for&#231;a m&#225;xima no teste direto de 1-RM no SH em   lutadores de MMA, tendo os achados demonstrado que os n&#237;veis de for&#231;a tamb&#233;m foram insuficientes para os praticantes desta modalidade desportiva.</p>     <p>Vale salientar, que este &#233; o primeiro estudo a apresentar   informa&#231;&#245;es sobre a determina&#231;&#227;o da carga por meio de modelos matem&#225;ticos   direcionados para atletas de MMA. Assim, ap&#243;s comparamos as diferentes equa&#231;&#245;es   com a avalia&#231;&#227;o direta do teste de 1-RM, observamos que os modelos de Adams   (1994) e O&#8217;Conner et al. (1989) se mostraram v&#225;lidos para estimativa de 1RM,   pois n&#227;o exibiram diferen&#231;as significativas (<i >p</i>= 0.337, <i >p</i>= 0.250),   respetivamente. Todavia, embora as outras equa&#231;&#245;es preditivas tenham mostrado   diferen&#231;as significativas entre o teste de 1-RM, todas demostraram ter uma   correla&#231;&#227;o positiva com o teste de 1-RM, na qual as equa&#231;&#245;es de Adams (1994) e   O&#8217;Conner et al. (1989) reportaram um maior coeficiente de correla&#231;&#227;o intraclasse (ICC= 0.924, ICC= 0.944) e uma maior correla&#231;&#227;o de Pearson (<i >r</i>= 0.924, <i >r</i>= 0.944), respetivamente.</p>     <p>Corroborando com nossos achados, os estudos encontrados na   literatura que utilizaram cargas subm&#225;ximas para predi&#231;&#227;o de 1-RM realizados   com outras popula&#231;&#245;es, apresentaram correla&#231;&#245;es elevadas com o teste direto de   1-RM (Cummings & Finn, 1998; Knutzen et al., 1999; Lacio et al., 2010;   LeSuer et al., 1997; Men&#234;ses et al., 2013; Nascimento et al., 2007; Whisenant   et al., 2003). Lacio et al. (2010) e Men&#234;ses et al. (2013) realizaram estudos   com objetivo de determinar a precis&#227;o das equa&#231;&#245;es de predi&#231;&#227;o de 1-RM   propostas por Adams (1994), Baechle e Groves (2000), Brzycki (1993), Epley   (1985), Lander (1985) e O&#8217;Conner et al. (1989) em homens treinados aparentemente   saud&#225;veis. No estudo de Lacio et al. (2010) os resultados mostraram que os coeficientes   de determina&#231;&#227;o variaram entre 0.94 e 0.96, e que todas as equa&#231;&#245;es podem ser   utilizadas com a finalidade de predizer a carga m&#225;xima para o SH com alto grau   de precis&#227;o em alunos de academia. Em conson&#226;ncia ao presente estudo, Men&#234;ses   et al. (2013) observaram que apenas as equa&#231;&#245;es de Adams (1994) e O&#8217;Conner et   al. (1989) apresentaram uma boa concord&#226;ncia para estimativa de 1-RM no SH, com coeficientes de Pearson de 0.91 e 0.93, respetivamente.</p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>LeSuer et al. (1997) obtiveram correla&#231;&#245;es que variaram entre   0.990 e 0.993 para as sete equa&#231;&#245;es e a carga estimada pelo teste de 1-RM para   o exerc&#237;cio SH em 67 estudantes destreinados. Os autores mostraram que as   equa&#231;&#245;es de Brzycki (1993), Epley (1995) e Lander (1985) (<i >r</i>= 0.993, <i >r</i>= 0.993 e <i >r</i>= 0.993, respetivamente) e O&#8217;Conner et   al. (1989) (<i >r</i>= 0.992) revelaram um   bom valor preditivo. Nesse contexto, Nascimento et al. (2007) desenvolveram um   estudo com objetivo de analisar a validade da equa&#231;&#227;o proposta por Brzycki   (1993) para a predi&#231;&#227;o de 1-RM no SH. Os autores conclu&#237;ram que a equa&#231;&#227;o de   Brzycki (1993) parece ser uma alternativa bastante atraente para a estimativa   dos valores de 1-RM, apresentando um coeficiente de correla&#231;&#227;o elevado (<i >r</i>= 0.990). Cummings e Finn (1998)   investigaram 57 mulheres destreinadas com objetivo de comparar a carga predita   e obtida no teste de 1-RM realizado no SH. Os autores obtiveram uma correla&#231;&#227;o   de 0.941, 0.943 e 0.942 para as equa&#231;&#245;es de Brzycki (1993), Epley (1995) e Lander (1985), respetivamente.</p>     <p>Adicionalmente, Knutzen et al. (1999) desenvolveram um   estudo com finalidade de examinar a validade de seis equa&#231;&#245;es de predi&#231;&#227;o de   1-RM em 51 idosos. Os achados constataram que as equa&#231;&#245;es de Lander (1985),   Mayhew, Ball, Arnold e Bowen (1992), e O&#8217;Conner et al. (1989) apresentaram   correla&#231;&#245;es elevadas (<i >r</i>= 0.901, <i >r</i>= 0.901 e <i >r</i>= 0.900), respetivamente. Whisenant et al. (2003) determinaram a   precis&#227;o de 11 equa&#231;&#245;es de predi&#231;&#227;o de 1-RM mais uma equa&#231;&#227;o que foi desenvolvida   pelo pr&#243;prio estudo. Foi utilizado o exerc&#237;cio de SH em 69 jogadores de futebol   e os autores encontraram uma varia&#231;&#227;o nas correla&#231;&#245;es de 0.844 a 0.926 entre as   equa&#231;&#245;es e a carga estimada pelo teste de 1-RM, demonstrando que a equa&#231;&#227;o desenvolvida   pelo pr&#243;prio estudo apresentou uma maior predi&#231;&#227;o (<i >r</i>= 0.926). Nesse contexto, verificou-se que a equa&#231;&#227;o de O&#8217;Conner   et al. (1989) parece ter uma boa aplicabilidade para homens treinados   aparentemente saud&#225;veis (Lacio et al. 2010; Men&#234;ses et al., 2013), estudantes   destreinados (LeSuer et al., 1997) e idosos (Knutzen et al., 1999), e de acordo com o presente estudo para lutadores de MMA.</p>     <p>Desta forma, Pereira e Gomes (2003) recomendam que quando os   testes forem utilizados em estudos, a confiabilidade das equa&#231;&#245;es de predi&#231;&#227;o   deve ser verificada antes do in&#237;cio do estudo, a fim selecionar a melhor equa&#231;&#227;o em fun&#231;&#227;o da popula&#231;&#227;o estudada.</p>     <p>Todavia, o presente estudo apresenta algumas limita&#231;&#245;es,   pois a validade das equa&#231;&#245;es para estimativa de 1-RM foi obtida apenas no   exerc&#237;cio SH. Assim, devido &#224; escassez de estudos com esta popula&#231;&#227;o, futuras   pesquisas devem ser desenvolvidas com outros exerc&#237;cios para os membros   inferiores, por exemplo, no agachamento, bem como, em atletas profissionais de   diferentes categorias do MMA. Adicionalmente, sugerem-se pesquisas analisando o   efeito agudo e cr&#243;nico da pr&#225;tica do MMA sobre a for&#231;a, a pot&#234;ncia e a resist&#234;ncia muscular, al&#233;m dos marcadores bioqu&#237;micos e hormonais.</p> </font>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><b><font size="3" face="Verdana">CONCLUS&#213;ES</font></b></p> <font size="2" face="Verdana">     <p>O presente estudo concluiu que as equa&#231;&#245;es de Adams e   O&#8217;Conner s&#227;o v&#225;lidas para predi&#231;&#227;o da carga de 1-RM, a partir de testes subm&#225;ximos   realizados no exerc&#237;cio SH em atletas de MMA. Portanto, a utiliza&#231;&#227;o de   equa&#231;&#245;es preditivas baseadas em testes subm&#225;ximos de repeti&#231;&#245;es m&#225;ximas pode ser considerada uma alternativa bastante positiva para essa popula&#231;&#227;o.</p> </font>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="3" face="Verdana"><b>REFER&#202;NCIAS</b></font></p> <font size="2" face="Verdana">    <!-- ref --><p>Adams, G.
