The initial electronic searches resulted in 559 manuscripts, and of these 130 were excluded for duplication, resulting in 429 manuscripts. The process of analysis of the studies involved reading titles, abstracts and full texts. After all these phases, 39 manuscripts met the inclusion criteria of the review. The articles were published between 2003 and 2013. Accelerometer and questionnaire were instruments more pronounced for the measurement of sedentary behavior in the analyzed articles. We identified gaps in scientific production in relation to the cutoff points to define the amount of time sitting that poses a risk to the health of the elderly, operational definition universal, as well as lack of standardization of instruments. We suggest further studies related to this theme in order to reduce the gaps.]]></p></abstract>

<body><![CDATA[<p><font size="2">A quantidade   de idosos na população mundial tem crescido em demasia e mudanças   epidemiológicas, ambientais, tecnológicas e demográficas advindas com o   processo evolutivo do ser humano e da sociedade são responsáveis pelo aumento   da longevidade e por mudanças no estilo de vida adotado pelas pessoas (Sabino, Regidor, &amp; Otero,   2007). O   estilo de vida ativo tem sido modificado por meio dos comportamentos   inadequados, dentre eles encontram-se a prática insuficiente de atividade física   e os comportamentos sedentários, o qual traz severas consequências para saúde e qualidade de vida dos longevos (Dogra &amp; Stathokostas, 2012). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">Comportamento sedentário e a   atividade física possuem construtos diferenciados, entretanto, a avaliação pode   ser facilitada por endenteder que ambos os comportamentos estão em mesma linha   do contínuo (van Uffelen, Heesch, Hill, &amp; Brown, 2011).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">O termo   insuficiente ativo pode ser entendido como a condição de realizar alguma atividade   física, mas sem atingir as diretrizes de saúde pública para os níveis   recomendados de atividade física em intensidade moderada a vigorosa (Hallal et al., 2012). Por sua vez, o   comportamento sedentário está relacionado àquelas atividades que são realizadas   na posição deitada ou sentada, que não elevam o gasto energético acima dos   níveis de repouso (1.0 - 1.5 METs) (Owen, Healy, Matthews, &amp; Dunstan, 2010).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">São   diversos os comportamentos que englobam a posição sentada ou deitada, como   andar de carro ou ônibus, assistir aulas e televisão, usar o computador, uso de   controle-remoto, jogar videogames, trabalhar, estudar ou alimentar-se na posição   sentada, dentre outras atividades realizadas no dia-a-dia da sociedade moderna que facilitam o ato de sentar ou permanecer na posição sentada (Amorim &amp; Faria, 2012).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Os   benefícios de um estilo de vida fisicamente ativo já são bem estabelecidos (Salmon, Owen, Crawford, Bauman,   &amp; Sallis, 2003)   e pesquisas   na área da gerontologia com finalidade de preservar a capacidade funcional e   melhorar a qualidade de vida e saúde de pessoas idosas tem aumentado (Virtuoso Júnior   &amp; Guerra, 2011),   porém sobre as atividades sedentárias verifica-se a necessidade de mais estudos (Owen et al., 2010). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">No que   concerne aos riscos para a saúde devido à adoção do comportamento sedentário,   sabe-se que volumes elevados de tempo sentado têm possíveis associações com   risco aumentado de obesidade (Gómez-Cabello et   al., 2012),   doenças cardiovasculares (Chang et al., 2008;   Matthews et al., 2012; van der Ploeg, Chey, Korda, Banks, &amp; Bauman, 2012;   Warren et al., 2010),   diabetes (van der Ploeg et al.,   2012) e câncer (Matthews et al., 2012).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">As associações   entre comportamento sedentário, atividade física e mortalidade em idosos têm   indicado que independente do nível de atividade   física o elevado tempo despendido em atividades sentadas é um indicador de   mortalidade (Dunstan   &amp; Owen, 2012). No   entanto, ainda não existe um consenso entre os pesquisadores da área quanto ao   melhor ponto de corte que discrimine a duração do tempo sentado na predição de   riscos à saúde do idoso (Owen et al., 2010). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">Na literatura há evidências de que a redução do tempo total   despendido em comportamento sedentário pode ser tão importante, quanto o   aumento da participação na atividade física para a diminuição de riscos à saúde   das pessoas (Katzmarzyk,   Church, Craig, &amp; Bouchard, 2009),   ou seja, realizar menos de 30 minutos de atividade física ao dia é tão   prejudicial à saúde quanto uma exposição de dez horas ao dia em comportamento   sedentário (Dunstan &amp; Owen, 2012). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">As evidências na literatura são claras quanto à relação   positiva entre o tempo despendido em comportamentos sedentários e o risco à   saúde dos idosos (Chang   et al., 2008). Apesar de crescente o   número de estudos que abordam a interrelação do tempo de exposição a comportamentos   sedentários e a saúde, tais investigações são recentes e as evidências encontradas até o momento necessitam serem sistematizadas.</font></p>     <p><font size="2">O propósito   deste estudo de revisão foi sistematizar a produção de artigos científicos com   abordagem dos comportamentos sedentários em idosos, em termos de definição operacional, instrumentos de medidas e pontos de cortes utilizados.</font></p> </font>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>&nbsp;</p> <font size="3" face="Verdana"><b>M&Eacute;TODO</b></font><font face="Verdana">     <p><font size="2">No   mês de maio de 2014 foram   levantadas e analisadas as publicações relacionadas ao tema de interesse. A busca foi realizada   a   partir da base de dados <i>National Library of Medicine</i> (Pubmed). Os   descritores utilizados foram “<i>sedentary behavior”</i> e “<i>sitting     time”</i> combinados com <i>elderly</i>, <i>older</i> e <i>aging</i>. Utilizou-se o   operador lógico <i>AND</i> para a combinação dos termos usados durante a busca das publicações.</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Os critérios   de inclusão foram: (a) artigos originais publicados até o ano de 2013; (b)   estratificação por idade igual ou acima de 60 anos; (c) medida do comportamento   sedentário através do tempo sentado, reclinado e deitado; (d) informações dos   procedimentos metodológicos (definição operacional e instrumentos utilizados);   (e) ponto   de corte para definir o comportamento sedentário; (f) delineamento de base populacional. </font></p>     <p><font size="2">Na   identificação de termos que direcionasse para área investigada e a eliminação   de réplicas foi realizado inicialmente uma leitura dos títulos e resumos dos   artigos encontrados na busca. Posteriormente, os artigos selecionados foram obtidos na íntegra e examinados de acordo com os critérios de inclusão estabelecidos. </font></p>     <p><font size="2">Para a   análise dos estudos, foram considerados os seguintes aspectos: ano de   publicação do estudo; tipo de delineamento; idade dos participantes da   pesquisa; local da coleta dos dados; definição operacional para comportamento   sedentário; instrumentos   de medidas de exposição a comportamentos sedentários; pontos de corte utilizados para definição de comportamento sedentário.</font></p>     <p><font size="2"><b>&nbsp;</b></font></p> <b><font size="3">RESULTADOS</font></b><font size="2">      <p>A partir da   busca, foram encontrados 559 artigos. Desses, 130 foram excluídos porque eram   duplicados na combinação dos descritores utilizados na pesquisa, resultando em   429 artigos selecionados para análise detalhada, sendo que desses 39 atenderam   os critérios de inclusão pré-estabelecidos e, em razão disso, foram selecionados para análise (<a href="/img/revistas/mot/v11n3/11n3a16f1.jpg">Figura 1</a>).</p>     
<p>As   características dos estudos sobre comportamento sedentário em idosos foram   apresentadas na <a href="/img/revistas/mot/v11n3/11n3a16t1.jpg">Tabela 1</a>. Os artigos foram publicados no período compreendido   entre 2003 a 2013, sendo que a maior concentração das publicações com essa   temática ocorreu nos anos de 2012 e 2013 (n = 27; 69.2%) (<a href="/img/revistas/mot/v11n3/11n3a16f2.jpg">Figura 2</a>). Quanto ao   delineamento, os artigos eram do tipo transversal (n = 23; 58.9%), estudos de coorte (n = 15; 38.5%) e caso-controle (n = 1; 2.6%).</p>     
<p>Com relação   à idade dos participantes, 51.3% dos estudos foram compostos exclusivamente por   pessoas idosas (&#8805; 60 anos) e os demais apresentaram ampla faixa etária   incluindo em alguns casos os adultos jovens, entretanto nestes estudos os   resultados de comportamento sedentário foram estratificados de acordo com as   faixas etárias. Essas pesquisas foram realizadas em doze países diferentes,   sendo que os Estados Unidos e a Austrália foram os países que se destacaram pelo desenvolvimento de estudos com esta temática (<a href="/img/revistas/mot/v11n3/11n3a16t1.jpg">Tabela 1</a>). </p>     
<p>Os artigos   também foram classificados segundo a definição operacional, instrumentos e   pontos de corte utilizados para definição de comportamentos sedentários (<a href="/img/revistas/mot/v11n3/11n3a16t2.jpg">Tabela 2</a>).</p>     
]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>Houve grande   variação nas definições operacionais para o comportamento sedentário. O tempo   sentado (ou reclinado) foi considerado no trabalho, em casa, no carro,   assistindo televisão, usando computador, costurando, comendo, socializando ou   lendo. Já o tempo sentado ou deitado foi considerado ouvindo música, falando no   telefone, relaxando, pensando e descansando, tirando um curto intervalo de descanso e tentando dormir.</p> </font></font>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Com relação   aos instrumentos de coleta de dados referentes ao comportamento sedentário,   56.4% utilizaram questões específicas (n = 22), 10.3% usaram questionários (n =   4); 28.2% usaram sensores de movimento (n = 11), 5.1% utilizaram questionário e   acelerômetro (n= 2). Os questionários utilizados eram de atividade física   (Questionário de Atividade Física – PAQ e Questionário Internacional de   Atividade Física – IPAQ) e dos acelerômetros mencionados a totalidade era da marca <i>Actigraph</i>, produzido na Flórida, EUA.</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Quanto aos   pontos de corte para definir o comportamento sedentário, houve congruência   entre aqueles que utilizaram o acelerômetro. Observa-se unanimidade, pois todos   consideram a medida &lt; 100 counts/min (&lt; 1.5 METs). No que se refere às   questões específicas, houve variação nos pontos de corte, sendo dada   preferência para o uso de tercis ou quartis na categorização do tempo despendido em comportamentos sedentários.</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Dentre os   estudos que utilizaram questionários elaborados a partir de constructos, o   realizado por Peters et al. (2010) empregou o questionário PAQ, para tanto   considerou o ponto de corte &lt; 1.5 METs para definição do comportamento   sedentário, diferente de Suzuki, Moraes, e Freitas (2010) com o uso do IPAQ e os valores médios correspondentes do tempo sentado em min/dia.</font></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p> <font size="3" face="Verdana"><b>DISCUSS&Atilde;O</b></font><font face="Verdana">     <p><font size="2">Os   resultados demonstram que nos últimos anos tem havido um aumento crescente de   estudos sobre comportamento sedentário com pessoas idosas. Os anos de 2012 e   2013 se destacaram por apresentarem maior quantidade de publicações referentes   a essa temática. Apesar da maior concentração de estudos transversais, existem estudos de coorte e caso-controle que discutem o comportamento sedentário.</font></p>     <p><font size="2">No entanto,   mesmo com um aumento relativo da quantidade de estudos nos últimos anos, ainda   há lacunas acerca dessa área de investigação. Constatou-se a carência de uma   definição operacional que denomine o comportamento sedentário de maneira clara,   pois as atividades que definem o comportamento ativo e sedentário são   diferentes e por isso devem ser medidas separadamente (Owen et al., 2010). Há uma tendência para definir o   comportamento sedentário em tempo sentado, deitado ou reclinado, evidenciando-se a falta de uma padronização para quantificá-lo.</font></p>     <p><font size="2">É importante   destacar que houve variação dos instrumentos utilizados para mensurar o   comportamento sedentário, sendo que dos estudos analisados houve maior   frequência de questões específicas de autorrelato (Balboa-Castillo   et al., 2011; Chang et al., 2008; Chomistek et al., 2013; Dallal et al., 2012;   Dogra &amp; Stathokostas, 2012; Gardiner et al., 2011; Gómez-Cabello et al.,   2012; Inoue et al., 2012; Katzmarzyk et al., 2009; Kikuchi et al., 2013;   Matthews et al., 2012; McDermott et al., 2011; Pavey et al., 2012; Peters et   al., 2010; Rosenkranz et al., 2013; Salmon et al., 2003; Seguin et al., 2012;   Suzuki et al., 2010; van der Ploeg et al., 2012; Warren et al., 2010; Yen et   al., 2013).   Este fato pode resultar em medidas discrepantes devido à dificuldade na sua   padronização, apesar disso, as medidas de autorrelato têm permeado os estudos   em saúde (Pettee Gabriel, Morrow, &amp; Woolsey, 2012).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Os   construtos da inatividade física e das atividades consideradas sedentárias   (&lt;1.5 METs) são diferenciados, sendo que a avaliação conjunta de tais   variáveis pode induzir o respondente à condição de oposição de tais   comportamentos (Pettee Gabriel et al., 2012). Deste modo, a   utilização de instrumentos de autorrelato que se propõem medir comportamentos   ativos pode gerar confusão ao respondente quando se pretende quantificar ou inferir o tempo gasto em atividades sedentárias (van Uffelen et al., 2011). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">Em um estudo   qualitativo realizado na Austrália foram analisadas as informações sobre o   tempo sentado obtido pelos questionários IPAQ e PASE (Escala de Atividade   Física para idosos), sendo identificado que o formato fechado do PASE é   mais fácil de ser utilizado por idosos e, consequentemente, as estratégias   empregadas para formular as respostas eram mais consistentes por proporcionar   maiores opções de respostas a partir de 0 - 2 horas, e progredindo em duas horas com aumentos até &gt; 12 horas (van Uffelen et al., 2011).</font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font size="2">O elevado   número de artigos que utilizaram questões específicas para avaliar o   comportamento sedentário mostra que esse campo de avaliação ainda é incipiente.   Por ser uma temática relativamente recente a ser estudada ainda faltam   instrumentos, sendo uma opção a avaliação do comportamento sedentário dentro dos questionários de Atividade Física, a exemplo do IPAQ (Suzuki et al., 2010). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">Os idosos   possuem dificuldade em relatar o tempo sentado nos últimos sete dias ou em um   único dia (Heesch, van Uffelen, Hill, &amp;   Brown, 2010; van Uffelen et al., 2011).   Por essa   razão, estes respondentes elegem um dia ao acaso selecionando o dia com menor   ou maior tempo sentado (Heesch et al., 2010). Em geral, os   questionários não sugerem uma estratégia para calcular horas sentadas durante   um dia, talvez fosse mais fácil se os participantes relatassem um dia   específico, como “o tempo total gasto sentado na última quarta-feira” ou o tempo gasto sentado no dia anterior à entrevista (Heesch et al., 2010). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">Devido a   essas questões o tempo sentado autorrelatado para idosos é questionável, pois é   menos preciso e com concordância de baixa a moderada quando comparado às   medidas objetivas por acelerômetros que registram a totalidade das atividades sedentárias, incluindo períodos breves, que são mais difíceis de mensurar (van Uffelen et al., 2011). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">A   recomendação para estudos de base populacional é que, sempre que possível, o   monitoramento dos comportamentos sedentários devem incorporar medidas   autorreferidas para obter informações relativas aos domínios e também baseadas em dispositivos objetivos que possam medir os padrões de tempo acumulado (Healy et al., 2011).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Outro   aspecto interessante é que aqueles estudos que utilizaram o acelerômetro   adotaram o mesmo ponto de corte para definir o comportamento sedentário (Buman   et al., 2010; Burton et al., 2012; Gennuso et al., 2013; Hagströmer et al.,   2010; Loprinzi, 2013; Matthews et al., 2008; Peters et al., 2010; Shiroma et   al., 2013; Stamatakis et al., 2012; van Uffelen et al., 2011). Esse fato permite a   comparação dos resultados e a generalização da informação. Por outro lado, aqueles   estudos que utilizaram medidas de autorrelato não apresentaram critérios   padronizados (Balboa-Castillo   et al., 2011; Boscatto et al., 2013; Dallal et al., 2012; Dogra &amp;   Stathokostas, 2012; Gardiner et al., 2011; Gómez-Cabello et al., 2012; Inoue et   al., 2012; Katzmarzyk et al., 2009; Kikuchi et al., 2013; Martinho et al.,   2013; McDermott et al., 2011; Morales et al., 2013; Pavey et al., 2012; Rosenkranz   et al., 2013; Seguin et al., 2012; Stamatakis et al., 2012; Sugiyama et al., 2012; van der Ploeg et al., 2012; Warren et al., 2010; Yen et al., 2013). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">Ainda quanto   aos pontos de corte para definir comportamento sedentário em idosos, observa-se   que não existe um valor pontual para determinar o tempo despendido em   comportamentos sedentários (alto/baixo), os quais possuem características   diferenciadas da população adulta e, portanto necessitam ser discriminados de   forma diferente (Seguin et al., 2012; Stamatakis et al., 2012; Sugiyama et al., 2012; van der Ploeg et al., 2012).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Especialistas   da área de medidas da atividade física são consistentes em afirmar que, com o   passar dos anos, os níveis de atividade física da população tendem a diminuir,   enquanto o tempo em atividades sedentárias tende a aumentar (Buman   et al., 2010; Burton et al., 2012; Dogra &amp; Stathokostas, 2012; Evenson et   al., 2012; Hagströmer et al., 2010; Healy et al., 2011; Heesch et al., 2010;   Matthews et al., 2008; Pettee Gabriel et al., 2012; Stamatakis et al., 2012;   Sugiyama et al., 2012).   As mudanças   em tais comportamentos podem ser relativas à maior quantidade de   responsabilidades e afazeres com características sedentárias, diminuindo o   tempo para prática de atividades físicas; ausência de facilitadores ambientais   estimuladores à adoção de hábitos saudáveis; o acesso cada vez mais facilitado   aos instrumentos tecnológicos poupadores do dispêndio energético (Amorim &amp; Faria, 2012) e, principalmente, fatores biológicos decorrentes da idade (Sabino et al., 2007).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Foi   observado que os artigos recentes têm utilizado medidas de comportamento   sedentário para investigar a associação do tempo sentado com a diminuição das   chances de ser fisicamente ativo (Salmon et al., 2003), doenças   cardiovasculares (Gardiner et al., 2011;   Katzmarzyk et al., 2009; McDermott et al., 2011; van der Ploeg et al., 2012;   Warren et al., 2010),   diabetes (van der Ploeg et al.,   2012),   risco de câncer (Dallal et al., 2012; Katzmarzyk et   al., 2009; Matthews et al., 2012),   ganho de peso, obesidade (Gómez-Cabello   et al., 2012; Inoue et al., 2012) e mortalidade (Matthews et al., 2012; Pavey et al., 2012; van der Ploeg et al., 2012; Warren et al., 2010). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">Em estudos   de base populacional realizados nos Estados Unidos foi identificado que os   estadunidenses gastam a maior parte de seu tempo em comportamentos que consomem   pouca energia (Evenson et al., 2012; Matthews et   al., 2008). A quantidade média de   tempo despendido em comportamentos sedentário foi de 8.5 horas/dia, sendo o   tempo sedentário maior entre as pessoas que tinham 80 anos ou mais em relação aos grupos etários mais jovens (Evenson et al., 2012).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Na China, as   pessoas   dispendem   5.3 h/dia em práticas de atividade física habitual e   8.5 h/dia em comportamentos sedentários, sendo que aquelas com idade &#8805; 60   anos são mais propensas a passar maior tempo em comportamentos sedentários   quando comparados às pessoas &lt; 50 anos (Peters et al., 2010). Em estudo de base   populacional realizado na cidade de Ribeirão Preto, no Brasil, foi observado   que as pessoas com idade &#8805; 70 anos passam aproximadamente 5 h/dia na posição sentada (Suzuki et al., 2010).</font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font size="2">Há uma relação inversa entre   comportamentos sedentários e envelhecimento saudável, sendo que o dispêndio   abaixo de duas horas de atividade sedentária por dia pode servir como uma   duração mínima (limite) que deve ser alcançado para o envelhecimento saudável (Dogra &amp; Stathokostas, 2012). Em estudo de base   populacional com seguimento de sete anos na população espanhola, foi   identificado que a quantidade de horas sentado possui uma relação inversa com escores dos domínios da qualidade de vida mensuradas pelo SF-36 (Balboa-Castillo et al., 2011). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">Estudo de   coorte prospectivo com 61.609 mulheres em seguimento @   12 anos foi observado que em comparação as idosas que relataram o dispêndio em   tempo sedentário &#8804; 6 h/dia, aquelas com maior quantidade de tempo   sedentário possuíam menor condição física na realização das atividades   cotidianas (Seguin et al., 2012). Ainda em relação à   função física, o   maior tempo sentado tem sido associado com o declínio na velocidade da   caminhada e da densidade muscular da panturrilha em pacientes com doença arterial periférica (McDermott et al., 2011).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">A associação   entre o tempo sentado e todas as causas de mortalidade é mais consistente entre   indivíduos saudáveis do que entre indivíduos com doença cardiovascular   preexistente ou diabetes (van der Ploeg et al., 2012). O tempo sentado   prolongado (&gt; 8 h/dia) está associado com um risco aumentado de mortalidade   por todas as causas (Pavey et al., 2012). Quantidade de tempo   sentado diário foi positivamente associado com taxas de mortalidade por todas   as causas e doenças cardiovasculares, independentemente do nível de atividade   física (Katzmarzyk et al., 2009). Por outro lado, a substituição de 30   min/dia de tempo sedentário com quantidades iguais de leve ou moderada atividade física foi associada a uma melhor saúde física (Buman et al., 2010). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">O tempo   despendido no carro ou em comportamentos sedentários combinados, em pessoas   idosas com peso normal, sem hipertensão e ativas fisicamente foram associados positivamente ao risco de mortalidade por doenças cardiovasculares (Owen et al., 2010).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Aproximadamente   20% dos homens e 10% das mulheres passam um tempo prolongado &#8805; 2 h/dia em   carros como condutores ou passageiros, sendo que os homens mais velhos (&#8805; 65 anos) apresentam tendências crescentes neste comportamento sedentário (Sugiyama et al., 2012).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">O   tempo despendido de quatro horas sentado ao dia foi associado com maior risco ao   excesso de peso corporal em homens e mulheres comparados com aqueles que   passavam menos de 4 h/dia sentados, independente das horas de caminhada (Gómez-Cabello et   al., 2012).   Para as   mulheres o comportamento sedentário   (&#8805; 6.6 h/dia) está associado ao aumento potencial ao risco de câncer de mama (Dallal et al., 2012).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">O tempo   assistindo televisão e o tempo total sentado superior a 20 h/sem foram   associados com o risco relativo de síndrome metabólica (Chang et al., 2008). A partir de 14 h/sem,   a cada 1hora a mais despendidos em comportamentos sedentários há o aumento do risco para a síndrome metabólica (Gardiner et al., 2011). </font></p>     <p><font size="2">O tempo   sentado prolongado e o tempo assistindo televisão foram positivamente   associados com a mortalidade e o risco de desenvolvimento de doenças   cardiovasculares e câncer (Inoue et al., 2012). O simples   comportamento de assistir televisão em horas prolongadas pode ser mais   deletério do que outros tipos de comportamentos inadequados à saúde (Inoue et al., 2012; Matthews et al., 2012).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Os   mecanismos explicativos dos efeitos nocivos do comportamento sedentário à   saúde, parte da premissa que a imobilização proporcionada pela falta ou redução   brusca da contração muscular faz desencadear o aumento dos triglicérides,   glicose plasmática e redução da atividade da lipoproteína lipase (LPL) (Wittrup,   Tybjærg-Hansen, &amp; Nordestgaard, 1999). A diminuição da glicose pelos   músculos faz aumentar à resistência a insulina e a energia é realocada para o   fígado, o qual aumenta a produção de lipídeos e consequentemente o   armazenamento nos adipócitos centrais (Charansonney, 2011). Tais adipócitos quando   metabolicamente ativos produzem moléculas inflamatórias que são as percussoras das doenças crônicas degenerativas (Elks &amp; Francis, 2010).</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Entre as   possíveis limitações desse estudo é possível destacar, a restrição dos termos   descritores utilizados e do único banco de dados elegível para busca.   Entretanto, o Pubmed é um reconhecido banco de dados que contempla mais de 18   milhões de referências e os termos descritores elegíveis para este estudo proporcionaram ampla varredura de artigos acerca da temática investigada.</font></p> </font>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>&nbsp;</p> <font size="3" face="Verdana"><b>CONCLUS&Otilde;ES</b></font><font face="Verdana">     <p><font size="2">Nos últimos   anos é possível perceber o aumento na produção científica que trata da temática   “comportamentos sedentários” e a evolução para um consenso da definição   operacional. Mas, ainda há a necessidade de maior volume de estudos nessa área,   principalmente quanto ao público idoso para elucidar o impacto dos níveis desse   comportamento inadequado à população, assim como na proposição de instrumentos que   abordem o comportamento sedentário como um constructo constituído a partir de múltiplos domínios.</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Os pontos de   corte do tempo despendido em comportamentos sedentários no que confere a maior   propensão de riscos à saúde apresentaram ampla variação, além da tendência de   ser determinado a partir de avaliações normativas ao invés da avaliação   referenciada por critério, aspecto este que permitira ampliar o poder de   generalização dos estudos. Entretanto, os resultados parecem ser consistentes   no diz respeito aos riscos à saúde para os indivíduos expostos a mais de 4 horas por dia na posição sentada.</font></p>     <p><font size="2">Por fim, é   válido destacar a necessidade de desenvolvimento de diretrizes tanto no que se   refere ao processo de avaliação como também para o desenvolvimento de   intervenções que possam direcionar crianças, adultos e idosos para a diminuição do comportamento sedentário.</font></p> </font>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="3" face="Verdana"><b>REFER&Ecirc;NCIAS</b></font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana">Amorim, P.
