Fernandes<sup>2,3</sup>, Susana Soares<sup>2,3</sup></b></p>     <p><sup>1</sup> Faculdade de Desporto, Universidade do Porto, Porto, Portugal; </p>     <p><sup>2</sup> Centro de Investiga&ccedil;&atilde;o, Forma&ccedil;&atilde;o, Inova&ccedil;&atilde;o e Interven&ccedil;&atilde;o em Desporto, Faculdade de Desporto, Universidade do Porto, Porto, Portugal; </p>     <p><sup>3</sup> Laborat&oacute;rio de Biomec&acirc;nica do Porto, Universidade do Porto, Porto, Portugal.</p> <hr/>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p>A determina&ccedil;&atilde;o da velocidade cr&iacute;tica (VC), a velocidade m&aacute;xima de nado que se consegue manter por um longo per&iacute;odo de tempo sem exaust&atilde;o (Wakayoshi, 1992), permite prescrever s&eacute;ries de treino ao limiar anaer&oacute;bio e analisar a evolu&ccedil;&atilde;o dos nadadores. As dist&acirc;ncias mais recomendadas para determina&ccedil;&atilde;o da VC implicam uma de curta e outra de longa (&gt; 15 min) dura&ccedil;&otilde;es, tornando o processo moroso. Zacca et al. (2016) propuseram os 400m como alternativa, obtendo-se a VC multiplicando a V400 por 0.92. O presente estudo pretendeu avaliar a evolu&ccedil;&atilde;o de nadadores jovens em dois macrociclos cont&iacute;guos usando esta metodologia. Seis nadadores (12.67&plusmn;0.52 anos; 48.97&plusmn;7.90 kg; 162&plusmn;0.09 cm) e quatro nadadoras (11.50&plusmn;0.58 anos; 42.55&plusmn;8.33 kg; 151&plusmn;0.09 cm) realizaram oito testes de 400 m durante os primeiro e segundo macrociclos da &eacute;poca desportiva, podendo observar-se os valores da VC na <a href="#t1">Tabela I</a>.
