<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2182-23952021000100016&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2182-23952021000100016&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2182-23952021000100016&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO  Introdução:  Entre 2008 e 2019, o Laboratório de Histopatologia Cutânea do Serviço de Dermatologia do Hospital de Santa Maria efectuou 60 741 exames histopatológicos, dos quais 11 873 corresponderam a patologia cutânea não tumoral (20%).  Material e Métodos:  Realizámos um estudo retrospetivo através da análise dos exames histopatológicos da patologia cutânea não tumoral estudados no laboratório durante o períodocompreenddo entre janeiro de 2008 e dezembro de 2019.  Resultados:  O grupo nosológico onde se documentou maior número de diagnósticos foi o eritemas reactivos (16%), seguido das dermatoses espongióticas (14%), infeções cutâneas (14%), dermatoses psoriasiformes (10%), dermatoses liquenóides (8%), doenças bolhosas autoimunes (7%), vasculopatias (7%), colagenoses (6%), doenças granulomatosas (5%), doenças não neoplásicas dos anexos (4%), paniculites (1%), afecções não tumorais das mucosas (1%) e das genodermatoses (1%), tendo sido observados 6% de casos referentes a várias outras entidades não tumorais não enquadráveis nos grupos considerados.  Conclusão:  Comparativamente às séries anteriormente publicadas relativas à actividade deste laboratório (referentes aos períodos compreendidos entre 1975-1980 e 1998-2007), constatou-se que o número total de exames de doenças cutâneas não tumorais tem sido progressivamente maior. Este crescimento global verificou-se em todas as categorias patológicas, com excepção das genodermatoses, relativamente às quais observou-se um decréscimo do número de exames realizado. Os dados observados consolidam o papel do Laboratório de Histopatologia Cutânea no âmbito da actividade assistencial realizada no Serviço de Dermatologia do Hospital de Santa Maria, não só pelo progressivo aumento de casuística nele processada, como também pelo maior nível de diferenciação alcançado.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction:  Between 2008 and 2019, in the Skin Pathology Laboratory of the Dermatology Department of Hospital de Santa Maria (Lisbon), 60 741 histological exams were performed, 11 873 of them concerned non tumour diseases (20%).  Material and Methods:  A retrospective study was conducted through the analysis of the histological exams of the non-tumoral skin pathology of the laboratory between January 2008 and December 2019.  Results:  Toxic erythemas were the most frequent group diagnosed (16%), followed by spongiotic dermatosis (14%), cutaneous infections (14%), psoriasiform dermatosis (10%) lichenoid dermatosis (8%), autoimmune bullous skin diseases (7%), vasculopathies (7%), collagenosis (6%), granulomatous diseases (5%), non tumour skin adnexal diseases (4%), panniculitis (1%), non tumour mucosal diseases (1%) and genodermatoses (1%). A number of cases (6%) corresponded to many diverse diagnoses that could not be classified into the main groups considered.  Conclusion:  Comparing with two previous series concerning the activity of this laboratory (referring to the period between 1975-1980 and 1998-2007), it was noticed that the total number of exams that were done in the considered period had consistently grown. This global growth was seen in all pathological categories, with the exception of genodermatoses. The observed results reaffirm the relevant role of the Skin Pathology Laboratory in the context of the Dermatology Department of Hospital de Santa Maria (Lisbon), not only based on the volume of exams there processed but also due to the higher level of expertise it achieved.]]></p></abstract>
