Apresentamos um recorte de três atividades desenvolvidas e discutimos a importância de um trabalho envolvendo os diferentes gêneros textuais/discursivos. Tendo como base teórica os pressupostos da Linguística Aplicada, e buscando apoio também em orientações curriculares nacionais, percebemos que o desenvolvimento de atividades de leitura e escrita de diferentes gêneros foi fundamental para que os estudantes pudessem perceber a diversidade linguística e cultural que permeia a sociedade em que estão inseridos, assim como refletir sobre as possibilidades de uso da língua. Por fim, discutimos o importante papel da escola no sentido de facilitar, por meio de um trabalho com as múltiplas linguagens, o exercício pleno da cidadania.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract In this work, we aim to reflect on language practices developed within the Pedagogical Residency Program in a school located in the outskirts of the municipality of Rio Grande/RS/Brazil. We present three selected activities and discuss the importance of engaging with various textual and discursive genres. Drawing on the theoretical framework of Applied Linguistics and national curriculum guidelines, we recognize that the development of reading and writing activities across different genres was essential for students to perceive the linguistic and cultural diversity within their society, as well as to reflect on the diverse applications of language. Finally, we discuss the significant role of the school in facilitating, through the exploration of multiple languages, the full exercise of citizenship.]]></p></abstract>
