Dinis, Apartado 3087, 3000-995 Coimbra, Portugal <a href="mailto:toldy@ces.uc.pt">toldy@ces.uc.pt</a></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><i>A religi&atilde;o continua a desempenhar um papel importante nas sociedades contempor&acirc;neas, em contextos geogr&aacute;ficos e em espa&ccedil;os (p&uacute;blico e privado) diversos (Braidotti </i>et al.<i>, 2014; Habermas, 2008; Asad, 2003). Debates em torno da bio&eacute;tica, rela&ccedil;&otilde;es de g&eacute;nero, direitos sexuais e reprodutivos, entre outros, d&atilde;o centralidade ao posicionamento religioso, colocando-o em di&aacute;logo com, ou em oposi&ccedil;&atilde;o a quest&otilde;es de direitos humanos e cidadania sexual. Parece, sobretudo, ficar demonstrado que estes temas, sendo do foro &iacute;ntimo, se tornam palco da interven&ccedil;&atilde;o pol&iacute;tica e p&uacute;blica por parte da religi&atilde;o, que, de formas diversas, procura condicionar legisla&ccedil;&atilde;o, influenciar mentalidades e regular comportamentos privados. Esta constata&ccedil;&atilde;o p&otilde;e em causa vis&otilde;es simplistas tanto da seculariza&ccedil;&atilde;o, como do secularismo, enquanto erradica&ccedil;&atilde;o da influ&ecirc;ncia da religi&atilde;o sobre as sociedades atuais (Casanova, 2009; Braidotti, 2008). </i></p>     <p><i>S&atilde;o v&aacute;rios os exemplos de temas controversos em anos recentes nos quais se revela esta articula&ccedil;&atilde;o entre o p&uacute;blico e o privado j&aacute; mencionada pela segunda vaga do feminismo (&ldquo;the personal is political&rdquo;), &agrave; qual poder&iacute;amos acrescentar: &ldquo;the personal is public also for religions&rdquo;: controlo sobre o corpo da mulher; regula&ccedil;&atilde;o do trabalho sexual; debates acerca da reprodu&ccedil;&atilde;o e procedimentos m&eacute;dico-cient&iacute;ficos; reconhecimento de casamentos entre pessoas do mesmo sexo e homoparentalidade. Estes assuntos, entre outros, t&ecirc;m vindo a suscitar discuss&otilde;es acesas tanto na esfera p&uacute;blica, quanto na esfera privada (Ozano e Giorgi, 2016).</i></p>     <p><i>De facto, para a religi&atilde;o o bin&oacute;mio &ldquo;religi&atilde;o-cidadania&rdquo; &ndash; de si, perturba</i><i>dor &ndash; adquire contornos espec&iacute;ficos no bin&oacute;mio &ldquo;religi&atilde;o-g&eacute;nero&rdquo;. Enquanto a religi&atilde;o se apresenta como uma &ldquo;realidade dada&rdquo;, isto &eacute;, como uma realidade </i><i>cujos fundamentos n&atilde;o s&atilde;o pass&iacute;veis de decis&atilde;o democr&aacute;tica (porque se baseiam em mensagens recebidas do transcendente), a cidadania est&aacute; sempre em constru&ccedil;&atilde;o, &eacute; resultado de uma conquista, um processo </i>bottom-up<i>, objeto de debates constantes nos quais se invoca a autonomia da/o cidad&atilde;/o &ndash; incluindo na esfera privada (Habermas e Ratzinger, 2005; Turner, 2013; Lister, 2003; Bracke, 2008 e Toldy, 2007). </i></p>     <p><i>O bin</i><i>&oacute;mio (muitas vezes, a ant&iacute;tese</i><i>)</i><i> &ldquo;religi&atilde;o-g&eacute;nero&rdquo; constitui um dos focos mais vis&iacute;veis desta turbul&ecirc;ncia introduzida pela no&ccedil;&atilde;o de cidadania. Se a religi&atilde;o entende que existe um plano (imut&aacute;vel, inquestion&aacute;vel) para os g&eacute;neros que foi concebido pelo transcendente, como &eacute; poss&iacute;vel pensar em formas de constru&ccedil;&atilde;o, desconstru&ccedil;&atilde;o e reconstru&ccedil;&atilde;o desse mesmo plano mediante processos </i>bottom-up<i>? O debate em torno daquilo que os documentos do Vaticano</i><sup><a href="#1">1</a></sup><a name="top1"></a><i> e das Confer&ecirc;ncias Episcopais em diversos pa&iacute;ses</i><sup><a href="#2">2</a></sup><a name="top2"></a><i> (fazendo de caixa de resson&acirc;ncia dos mesmos) designam por &ldquo;ideologia do g&eacute;nero&rdquo;, por exemplo, passa exatamente por esta quest&atilde;o: a ideia de que o g&eacute;nero &eacute; uma constru&ccedil;&atilde;o sociocultural e pol&iacute;tica &eacute; entendida como uma forma de desvirtuar o plano original estabelecido para os sexos, o qual &eacute; considerado como sendo natural e, logo, o verdadeiro. O car&aacute;cter &uacute;nico desse mesmo plano n&atilde;o admite oposi&ccedil;&atilde;o, nem t&atilde;o-pouco questionamento, adquirindo um estatuto de autoridade atemporal. O conceito de natureza aparece, assim, como uma forma de manter uma ordem social legitimada pelo transcendente com particular impacto sobre as mulheres, j&aacute; que, nos documentos mencionados, as refer&ecirc;ncias &ldquo;&agrave; ideologia do g&eacute;nero&rdquo; aparecem associadas de forma preponderante ao feminismo. A recusa do reconhecimento do g&eacute;nero e do sexo como constru&ccedil;&otilde;es pol&iacute;ticas </i><i>e culturais desencadeia, assim, din&acirc;micas p&uacute;blicas que procuram regular a ordem social &agrave; luz de um dado conceito de natureza, e n&atilde;o de identidades </i><i>m&uacute;ltiplas, conferindo suporte ideol&oacute;gico a pr&aacute;ticas sexistas, homof&oacute;bicas e transf&oacute;bicas (Zappino, 2016). Refira-se, a t&iacute;tulo de exemplo, a recente ofensiva, a n&iacute;vel internacional, no sentido de impedir que as quest&otilde;es de g&eacute;nero e de orienta&ccedil;&atilde;o sexual sejam discutidas nas escolas, por exemplo.</i><sup><a href="#3">3</a></sup><a name="top3"></a></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><i>As interpreta&ccedil;&otilde;es religiosas &ldquo;naturalizantes&rdquo; tiveram um efeito catastr&oacute;fico sobre os direitos das mulheres, ao longo dos s&eacute;culos, contribuindo diretamente para a legitima&ccedil;&atilde;o dos estere&oacute;tipos de g&eacute;nero, confinadores das mulheres ao espa&ccedil;o privado no qual se reproduzia a hierarquia de g&eacute;neros do espa&ccedil;o p&uacute;blico (Fiorenza, 2013; Henriques e Toldy, 2012). Mais especificamente, a atribui&ccedil;&atilde;o do espa&ccedil;o p&uacute;blico aos homens e do espa&ccedil;o privado &agrave;s mulheres subtraiu-as ao reconhecimento da sua condi&ccedil;&atilde;o de cidad&atilde;s durante s&eacute;culos, para al&eacute;m de invisibilizar a diversidade de g&eacute;neros que foi redutoramente reduzida a um modelo bin&aacute;rio totalizante. Contudo, as abordagens secularistas n&atilde;o garantiram, nem garantem, por si s&oacute;, o acesso das mulheres aos seus direitos pol&iacute;ticos, uma vez que a hist&oacute;ria da modernidade est&aacute; marcada simultaneamente por uma separa&ccedil;&atilde;o entre o Estado e as institui&ccedil;&otilde;es religiosas e pelo n&atilde;o reconhecimento do estatuto de seres pensantes &agrave;s mulheres (condi&ccedil;&atilde;o necess&aacute;ria para se ser cidad&atilde;/o) (recorde-se a abordagem de Beauvoir, 1949 &ndash; que constitui um </i>must<i> nesta mat&eacute;ria). Al&eacute;m disso, o &ldquo;ideal secularista&rdquo; de remiss&atilde;o da religi&atilde;o para a esfera privada refor&ccedil;a, mais uma vez, a ideia de que &ldquo;the private is not political&rdquo;: sendo o &ldquo;mundo das mulheres&rdquo; o mundo privado, os pap&eacute;is de g&eacute;nero neste universo n&atilde;o ter&atilde;o, for&ccedil;osamente, que se alterar, pelo facto de os homens terem supostamente adquirido os mesmos direitos como cidad&atilde;os e muito menos pelo facto de se relegar a religi&atilde;o para a esfera do privado.</i></p>     <p><i>Ora, os movimentos feministas no interior das confiss&otilde;es religiosas, das religi&otilde;es e dos movimentos de espiritualidade reivindicam precisamente tamb&eacute;m a possibilidade de ag&ecirc;ncia por parte das mulheres no espa&ccedil;o p&uacute;blico religioso. </i><i>A afirma&ccedil;&atilde;o de religi&otilde;es de matriz feminina (Starhawk, 1989) ou a reapropria&ccedil;&atilde;o feminista dos fundamentos &ndash; nomeadamente, do Cristianismo, do Juda&iacute;smo e do Isl&atilde;o<sup><a href="#4">4</a></sup><a name="top4"></a> &ndash;, procura articular a religi&atilde;o conjuntamente com a emancipa&ccedil;&atilde;o, procedendo a um movimento de retorno &agrave;s origens da religi&atilde;o, numa afirma&ccedil;&atilde;o do seu car&aacute;cter n&atilde;o sexista, ou, de forma pragm&aacute;tica, tomando a sua mensagem como inspirada, porque inspiradora de movimentos de liberta&ccedil;&atilde;o social, superando, assim, uma vis&atilde;o da religi&atilde;o como algo do dom&iacute;nio exclusivamente privado e trazendo, assim, de novo, &agrave; luz, ainda que de uma outra forma, o papel p&uacute;blico da religi&atilde;o.</i></p>     <p><i>Em Portugal, em temas relacionados com sexualidade de uma forma geral, o papel da religi&atilde;o tem sido descrito enquanto plataforma de vigil&acirc;ncia, condicionamento e puni&ccedil;&atilde;o, remetendo para normatividades que amarram o desejo sexual a um projeto formal de reconhecimento p&uacute;blico de um casal heterossexual, cisg&eacute;nero, monog&acirc;mico e reprodutor. Este imagin&aacute;rio conservador acerca da religi&atilde;o alimenta-se do protagonismo de elementos do clero cat&oacute;lico, c&eacute;leres na condena&ccedil;&atilde;o p&uacute;blica do uso do preservativo ou do casamento entre pessoas do mesmo sexo, entre outros exemplos (Santos, 2005 e 2013). No contexto portugu&ecirc;s trata-se, portanto, de uma forma de viol&ecirc;ncia difusa, que se exerce principalmente ao n&iacute;vel da dissuas&atilde;o preventiva, mais do que por efeito de uma puni&ccedil;&atilde;o f&iacute;sica com autoria identific&aacute;vel. N&atilde;o obstante, os efeitos perniciosos da homofobia e da transfobia em meio religioso sobre o percurso individual de crentes ou ex-crentes l&eacute;sbicas, </i>gays<i>, bissexuais, transg&eacute;nero, intersexo ou </i>queer<i> (LGBTIQ) n&atilde;o podem ser descurados. Importa notar que a viv&ecirc;ncia da espiritualidade ou da religiosidade n&atilde;o obsta necessariamente ao acolhimento da diversidade sexual, havendo diversos contributos anal&iacute;ticos importantes nesta &aacute;rea de crescente interesse interseccional (Yip e Page, 2013; Hunt e Yip, 2012; Donald e Howard, 2015).<sup><a href="#5">5</a></sup><a name="top5"></a> Com efeito, a concilia&ccedil;&atilde;o da sexualidade com a f&eacute; religiosa descreve o quotidiano de um grande n&uacute;mero de crentes, cat&oacute;licos ou de outras denomina&ccedil;&otilde;es religiosas, que se identificam como LGBTIQ (Yip, 2015; Page e Yip, 2012; Nynas e Yip, 2012). Foi justamente essa constata&ccedil;&atilde;o que suscitou uma s&eacute;rie de iniciativas que visam desconstruir um entendimento dicot&oacute;mico e promover um di&aacute;logo inclusivo e mais respeitador dos princ&iacute;pios internacionais de direitos humanos. O encontro &ldquo;Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Religion: A New Dialogue&rdquo;, organizado pelo Intergrupo dos Direitos LGBTI do Parlamento Europeu em novembro de 2013 constituiu uma destas ocasi&otilde;es.<sup><a href="#6">6</a></sup><a name="top6"></a> Recorde-se tamb&eacute;m o impacto medi&aacute;tico das declara&ccedil;&otilde;es recentes do Papa Francisco acerca da homossexualidade, em 2013 e em 2016, demonstrando disponibilidade para reconhecer a culpa hist&oacute;rica da Igreja Cat&oacute;lica em mat&eacute;ria de homofobia. Apesar dos esfor&ccedil;os no </i><i>sentido de um maior entendimento, o campo para o qual confluem f&eacute; religiosa e sexualidade permanece pejado de contradi&ccedil;&atilde;o e tens&otilde;es, das quais d&atilde;o conta diversos textos inclu&iacute;dos neste Dossier sobre religi&atilde;o, g&eacute;nero e cidadania sexual.</i></p>     <p><i>Os contributos que constituem o Dossier apresentam algumas tem&aacute;ticas em comum. Em primeiro lugar, a reflex&atilde;o que nos &eacute; oferecida foca-se preponderantemente no Sul &ndash; na Am&eacute;rica do Sul (Brasil) e na Europa do Sul (It&aacute;lia). </i><i>Trata-se de um posicionamento interessante: embora existam necessariamente muitas diferen&ccedil;as contextuais e hist&oacute;ricas, parecem coexistir linhas de conflu&ecirc;ncia entre estes v&aacute;rios pa&iacute;ses &agrave;s quais n&atilde;o &eacute; alheia a predomin&acirc;ncia de uma mesma religi&atilde;o nos mesmos pa&iacute;ses. Al&eacute;m disso, ainda que de formas diversas, </i><i>todos os textos afloram a quest&atilde;o do papel da religi&atilde;o no espa&ccedil;o p&uacute;blico e privado. </i><i>Este &eacute; um tema central para o debate em torno do secularismo e da seculariza&ccedil;&atilde;o e tratado explicitamente no texto de Alberta Giorgi, que se prop&otilde;e a explorar o papel de uma an&aacute;lise de g&eacute;nero para a pr&oacute;pria redefini&ccedil;&atilde;o destes conceitos, bem como apontar as tens&otilde;es existentes entre a ag&ecirc;ncia das mulheres e a ag&ecirc;ncia religiosa.</i></p>     <p><i>O argumento da natureza, e a ambival&ecirc;ncia na sua utiliza&ccedil;&atilde;o, &eacute; um dos t&oacute;picos do contributo de Elisa Bell&egrave;, Caterina Peroni e Elisa Rapetti. As autoras apresentam uma an&aacute;lise acerca do debate sobre a &ldquo;ideologia do g&eacute;nero&rdquo; em It&aacute;lia, a partir de dois eventos de rua: a marcha LGBTIQ e o </i>Family Day<i> (direcionado para organiza&ccedil;&otilde;es e grupos cat&oacute;licos), sublinhando o modo como o conceito de natureza se transformou numa linha de fratura entre duas </i><i>estrat&eacute;gias distintas para a afirma&ccedil;&atilde;o e reconhecimento dos direitos LGBTQI. </i></p>     <p><i>Rodrigo Ot&aacute;vio Moretti-Pires, Zeno Carlos Tesser J&uacute;nior, Marcelo Vieira e Murilo dos Santos Moscheta tamb&eacute;m centram o seu artigo na Marcha LGBTIQ, desta feita no Brasil, para evidenciar as tens&otilde;es em torno da quest&atilde;o do g&eacute;nero. Neste caso, o interesse dos autores centra-se na reconstru&ccedil;&atilde;o do campo de conflito e, por consequ&ecirc;ncia, no respetivo posicionamento dos atores no espa&ccedil;o de debate. </i></p>     <p><i>Finalmente, o texto de Daniela Cordovil concentra-se no papel das mulheres entre os adeptos e as adeptas da wicca e do candombl&eacute; no Brasil. Cordovil foca-se precisamente nas espiritualidades feministas, evidenciando as diferentes formas de constru&ccedil;&atilde;o do g&eacute;nero.</i></p>     <p><i>Este n&uacute;mero tem&aacute;tico ancora-se, pois, nas intersec&ccedil;&otilde;es entre religi&atilde;o e debates pol&iacute;ticos relativos a modelos familiares, sexualidade, reprodu&ccedil;&atilde;o e rela&ccedil;&otilde;es </i><i>de g&eacute;nero. Valorizando uma abordagem de matriz interdisciplinar, os artigos </i><i>inclu&iacute;dos neste Dossier sugerem an&aacute;lises sociol&oacute;gicas, antropol&oacute;gicas e da ci&ecirc;ncia pol&iacute;tica com um olhar atento a uma perspetiva de g&eacute;nero e ao seu cruzamento, tantas vezes tensivo, com a religi&atilde;o.</i></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><b>BIBLIOGRAFIA</b></p>     ]]></body>
