A nutrição, pelo adequado suporte nutricional, pode restabelecer o equilíbrio entre os sistemas orgânicos ao reduzir os riscos de doenças. A nutrição funcional compreende a relação entre estes diferentes sistemas ao avaliar sinais e sintomas de acordo com a individualidade bioquímica do paciente. O objetivo deste trabalho foi descrever e discutir conceitos da nutrição funcional e apresentar resultados de 13 pacientes com intervenção nutricional por 30 dias baseada nestes conceitos, ressaltando sua aplicabilidade na prática clínica nutricional. A busca bibliográfica foi realizada nas bases de dados Medline (via PubMed) e Lilacs, em sites institucionais e em livros relacionados ao tema por meio dos termos de indexação. A nutrição funcional, ao incorporar a relação entre a fisiologia, fatores emocionais, cognitivos e estruturais, e considerar aspectos genotípicos e bioquímicos individuais, traz uma prática avançada em avaliação, diagnóstico, tratamento e monitoramento nutricional utilizando ferramentas práticas e personalizadas, com o objetivo de promover saúde como vitalidade positiva. Pela escassez de publicações sobre a nutrição funcional, mais ensaios clínicos e estudos populacionais são necessários para evidenciar resultados com esta abordagem em que todos os pacientes tiveram sua glicemia, colesterol total, LDL-colesterol e triglicerídeos diminuídos em um curto período de tempo.]]></p></abstract>

Nutrition, through proper nutritional support, can restore the balance between body systems, reducing the risk of diseases. Functional nutrition understands the relationship between these different systems, evaluating signs and symptoms according to the biochemical individuality of the patient. The objective of this review is describe and discuss concepts of functional nutrition, and shows the results of 13 patients with nutritional intervention for 30 days based in these concepts, highlighting the applicability in nutricionist&#8217;s clinical practice. The literature search was conducted in Medline (via PubMed) and Lilacs, institutional sites and books related to the topic through index terms listed below. Functional nutrition incorporate the relationship between physiology, emotional factors, cognitive and structural considering genotype and biochemical individual aspects, brings an advanced practical assessment, diagnosis and nutritional treatment and monitoring, using practical and customized tools, in order to promote health and positive vitality. Considering of the scarcity of publications about functional nutrition, more clinical trials and population research are needed to evidence results with this approach, in which all patients had their blood glucose, cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triglycerides decreased in a short period of time.]]></p></abstract>

No decorrer dos s&eacute;culos, a ci&ecirc;ncia da medicina identificou diversas doen&ccedil;as associadas a defici&ecirc;ncias nutricionais (1-4), dentre as quais as doen&ccedil;as cr&oacute;nicas n&atilde;o transmiss&iacute;veis (DCNT) (5), que s&atilde;o agravadas por modifica&ccedil;&otilde;es no padr&atilde;o diet&eacute;tico (6), redu&ccedil;&atilde;o da atividade f&iacute;sica (7), stress e dist&uacute;rbios emocionais (8,9), interferindo no funcionamento dos sistemas org&acirc;nicos (5,6,10-16). Atualmente o cuidado no suporte nutricional, al&eacute;m de nutrir as c&eacute;lulas adequadamente, envolve o equil&iacute;brio em fatores como stress, dist&uacute;rbios emocionais, exposi&ccedil;&atilde;o a poluentes, pesticidas e subst&acirc;ncias sint&eacute;ticas, fornecendo nutrientes e compostos bioativos envolvidos na modula&ccedil;&atilde;o dos sistemas org&acirc;nicos de defesa e elimina&ccedil;&atilde;o (19,20). Estes mecanismos manifestam-se por meio de sinais e sintomas, vieses importantes a serem observados na pr&aacute;tica cl&iacute;nica. Nesse sentido, uma &aacute;rea de conhecimento da ci&ecirc;ncia da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o, definida como nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional, busca compreender de maneira cient&iacute;fica e integrativa a rela&ccedil;&atilde;o entre os diferentes sistemas do organismo. O cerne est&aacute; na avalia&ccedil;&atilde;o das causas, manifestadas por sinais e no &acirc;mbito da individualidade bioqu&iacute;mica, a qual objetiva restabelecer o equil&iacute;brio fisiol&oacute;gico, estrutural e emocional.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><b>OBJETIVOS</b></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>A presente revis&atilde;o bibliogr&aacute;fica, de car&aacute;ter narrativo, teve por objetivo descrever e discutir conceitos da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional, compreendendo a import&acirc;ncia e a aplicabilidade das interconex&otilde;es metab&oacute;licas na pr&aacute;tica cl&iacute;nica em nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o para alcan&ccedil;ar a sa&uacute;de como vitalidade positiva com base na individualidade bioqu&iacute;mica e na integra&ccedil;&atilde;o entre os sistemas org&acirc;nicos, e apresentar dados de pacientes ambulatoriais com interven&ccedil;&atilde;o nutricional baseada nos princ&iacute;pios da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><b>METODOLOGIA</b></p>     <p>Para contextualizar os conceitos e princ&iacute;pios da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional foi realizada uma busca bibliogr&aacute;fica no per&iacute;odo entre dezembro de 2015 e julho de 2016, atrav&eacute;s das bases de dados Medline (via PubMed) e Lilacs, dos sites institucionais da Organiza&ccedil;&atilde;o Mundial da Sa&uacute;de (OMS), do&nbsp;Institute for Functional Medicine&nbsp;(IFM) e do Instituto Brasileiro de Nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o Funcional (IBNF) e em livros relacionados ao tema por meio dos termos de indexa&ccedil;&atilde;o: food, nutrient, health AND nutrition, functional nutrition, chronic diseases AND dietary pattern, biological systems, cortisol, psychological stress. O estudo de caso teve delineamento explorat&oacute;rio-descritivo e incluiu 13 pacientes, homens e mulheres (18-54 anos) atendidos em ambulat&oacute;rio, mediante aprova&ccedil;&atilde;o do Comit&ecirc; de &Eacute;tica e Pesquisa (COEP) da Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul n.&ordm; 168/2009. A metodologia envolveu aplica&ccedil;&atilde;o de anamnese completa, aferi&ccedil;&atilde;o do peso (kg) e altura (m), utilizando balan&ccedil;a eletr&oacute;nica e estadi&oacute;metro, conforme os procedimentos descritos por Gordon, Chumlea e Roche (21); c&aacute;lculo do &Iacute;ndice de Massa Corporal (IMC; kg/m2) e classifica&ccedil;&atilde;o conforme crit&eacute;rios da OMS (22); mensura&ccedil;&atilde;o das circunfer&ecirc;ncias de abd&oacute;men (CA) com fita m&eacute;trica, na regi&atilde;o de maior circunfer&ecirc;ncia (23). Os resultados dos exames laboratoriais de glicemia de jejum, colesterol total (CT), lipoprote&iacute;na de alta densidade (HDL), lipoprote&iacute;na de baixa densidade (LDL), triglicer&iacute;deos (TG) foram precedentes &agrave; interven&ccedil;&atilde;o, os quais fizeram parte da rotina m&eacute;dica de cada paciente, e ap&oacute;s 30 dias de interven&ccedil;&atilde;o nutricional foram provenientes de exames laboratoriais solicitados na consulta inicial. A interven&ccedil;&atilde;o ocorreu por 30 dias e, decorrido este per&iacute;odo, os mesmos foram novamente avaliados. Os dados s&atilde;o expressos em m&eacute;dia&nbsp;&plusmn;&nbsp;desvio padr&atilde;o. Todos os resultados dos pacientes foram analisados por vari&acirc;ncia (ANOVA) de teste de tukey. Foram consideradas diferen&ccedil;as estat&iacute;sticas quando p&lt; 0,05.</p>     <p><b>Nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional: conceitos</b></p>     <p>A nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional &eacute; uma &aacute;rea de conhecimento da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o baseada na perspetiva da medicina funcional (24). O termo &ldquo;funcional&rdquo; aplica-se &agrave; manifesta&ccedil;&atilde;o de mudan&ccedil;as em processos fisiol&oacute;gicos b&aacute;sicos que refletem sintomas de dura&ccedil;&atilde;o, intensidade e frequ&ecirc;ncia aumentadas, ou seja, n&atilde;o se resume apenas a doen&ccedil;as de origem conhecida, mas altera&ccedil;&otilde;es precoces nas fun&ccedil;&otilde;es org&acirc;nicas que podem evoluir para doen&ccedil;as cr&oacute;nicas ao longo da vida (25). Os conceitos da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional abrangem gen&eacute;tica, interven&ccedil;&atilde;o cl&iacute;nica por meio da biologia em sistemas e a compreens&atilde;o da influ&ecirc;ncia de fatores ambientais e de estilo de vida no surgimento e progress&atilde;o da doen&ccedil;a (26). Dessa forma, a nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional, como uma ci&ecirc;ncia integrativa fundamentada em evid&ecirc;ncias cient&iacute;ficas, incorpora a intera&ccedil;&atilde;o entre os sistemas org&acirc;nicos por meio da rela&ccedil;&atilde;o entre a fisiologia, fatores emocionais, cognitivos e aspetos estruturais, no ato de avaliar aspetos genot&iacute;picos e bioqu&iacute;micos individuais. Na pr&aacute;tica cl&iacute;nica, objetiva aplicar condutas personalizadas para equilibrar funcional e nutricionalmente o organismo e modular respostas frente ao gen&oacute;tipo e a diferentes fatores que predisponham desequil&iacute;brios e doen&ccedil;as, promovendo a sa&uacute;de como vitalidade positiva (27).</p>     <p><b>Princ&iacute;pios da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional</b></p>     <p>As condutas da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional s&atilde;o norteadas pelos seguintes princ&iacute;pios b&aacute;sicos (24,27):</p> 1. Individualidade bioqu&iacute;mica: princ&iacute;pio base para a terapia nutricional funcional, caracterizado por um conjunto de fatores gen&eacute;ticos, fisiol&oacute;gicos e bioqu&iacute;micos individuais que orquestra o funcionamento do organismo e as necessidades nutricionais, as quais interagem com fatores ambientais (incluindo h&aacute;bitos alimentares, toxinas, poluentes, stress mental e atividade f&iacute;sica). Assim, cada indiv&iacute;duo apresenta uma necessidade ou defici&ecirc;ncia nutricional espec&iacute;fica, que podem ser determinadas pela avalia&ccedil;&atilde;o de sinais e sintomas que o mesmo apresenta ou pelo meio ambiente ao qual est&aacute; exposto; 2. Tratamento centrado no paciente: o foco do tratamento nutricional funcional &eacute; centrado no paciente e n&atilde;o na doen&ccedil;a, uma vez que &eacute; considerada a inter-rela&ccedil;&atilde;o entre os sistemas org&acirc;nicos e a influ&ecirc;ncia sofrida por fatores ambientais, socioecon&oacute;micos, emocionais, culturais, alimentares, bem como antecedentes individuais e familiares, utiliza&ccedil;&atilde;o de medicamentos e pr&aacute;tica de atividade f&iacute;sica, indicando a individualidade dos sinais e sintomas apresentados pelo paciente. Neste ponto, utiliza-se, conjuntamente, o sistema ATMs (Antecedents, Triggers, and Mediators&ndash; Antecedentes, Gatilhos e Mediadores) para a identifica&ccedil;&atilde;o dos desequil&iacute;brios nutricionais e funcionais e subsequente obten&ccedil;&atilde;o do diagn&oacute;stico nutricional. Nesse sistema, os antecedentes incluem o hist&oacute;rico de vida e familiar (gen&eacute;tico) do paciente; os gatilhos envolvem fatores que podem ser origin&aacute;rios de stress f&iacute;sico, mental e oxidativo, traumas, radia&ccedil;&atilde;o, lipopolissacar&iacute;deos bacterianos (LPS) e micro-organismos; os mediadores s&atilde;o componentes que podem estar associados a disfun&ccedil;&otilde;es do organismo, nominados como mediadores qu&iacute;micos (hormonas, neurotransmissores, citocinas, radicais livres), subat&ocirc;micas (&iacute;ons), cognitivos ou emocionais (cren&ccedil;a em rela&ccedil;&atilde;o &agrave; doen&ccedil;a, sentimento de medo, ansiedade), sociais e culturais (rela&ccedil;&otilde;es interpessoais profissionais e familiares); 3. Equil&iacute;brio nutricional e biodisponibilidade de nutrientes: a absor&ccedil;&atilde;o e a a&ccedil;&atilde;o dos nutrientes em &acirc;mbito celular s&atilde;o dependentes n&atilde;o apenas da adequa&ccedil;&atilde;o da ingest&atilde;o, mas tamb&eacute;m da raz&atilde;o de equil&iacute;brio entre estes componentes &ndash; os quais agem em sinergismo dentro do organismo, da origem do alimento e sua forma de conserva&ccedil;&atilde;o e preparo, da forma qu&iacute;mica em suplementa&ccedil;&otilde;es, e, por fim, da condi&ccedil;&atilde;o absortiva e/ou patol&oacute;gica e da necessidade nutricional individual; 4. Sa&uacute;de como vitalidade positiva: segundo a OMS, sa&uacute;de se refere ao perfeito estado de bem-estar f&iacute;sico, mental e social (28). O indiv&iacute;duo deve ser avaliado como um organismo completo e tratado com o objetivo de modular os desequil&iacute;brios existentes para restabelecer a rela&ccedil;&atilde;o positiva entre os sistemas, atingindo a sa&uacute;de de forma plena, ou seja, com vitalidade positiva; 5. Inter-rela&ccedil;&otilde;es pela teia de interconex&otilde;es metab&oacute;licas: as interconex&otilde;es metab&oacute;licas caracterizam um modo que permite elencar as inter-rela&ccedil;&otilde;es entre todos os processos bioqu&iacute;micos do organismo e entre o sistema ATMs, permitindo a identifica&ccedil;&atilde;o dos desequil&iacute;brios metab&oacute;licos associados &agrave;s condi&ccedil;&otilde;es cl&iacute;nicas apresentadas pelo paciente, favorecendo o desmembramento das bases funcionais destes dist&uacute;rbios para o tratamento de suas causas.     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><b>Interconex&otilde;es metab&oacute;licas</b></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p>Para a compreens&atilde;o da interconex&atilde;o entre os diferentes sistemas org&acirc;nicos e de seu impacto sobre determinadas condi&ccedil;&otilde;es cl&iacute;nicas, a nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional utiliza uma configura&ccedil;&atilde;o gr&aacute;fica em forma de teia que representa as interconex&otilde;es metab&oacute;licas, sendo uma ferramenta desenvolvida pelo IFM que esquematiza as complexas inter-rela&ccedil;&otilde;es entre estes sistemas, facilitando a caracteriza&ccedil;&atilde;o dos desequil&iacute;brios cl&iacute;nicos de forma a ampliar a vis&atilde;o sobre o paciente. Neste processo s&atilde;o identificados diversos fatores bioqu&iacute;micos, neurol&oacute;gicos, emocionais, mentais, hormonais, imunol&oacute;gicos e f&iacute;sicos e como modifica&ccedil;&otilde;es nestes pontos podem influenciar direta ou indiretamente a intera&ccedil;&atilde;o entre os sistemas, refletindo ou n&atilde;o em dist&uacute;rbios org&acirc;nicos. Ainda, considera-se o sistema ATMs, o padr&atilde;o de sono e relaxamento, a pr&aacute;tica de atividade f&iacute;sica, aspetos nutricionais e de hidrata&ccedil;&atilde;o, stress e resili&ecirc;ncia, bem como relacionamento e conv&iacute;vio (<a href ="/img/revistas/apn/n7/n7a06f1.jpg">Figura 1</a>) (25,27,28). Assim, pode-se inferir que a utiliza&ccedil;&atilde;o pr&aacute;tica desta ferramenta amplia o diagn&oacute;stico nutricional do indiv&iacute;duo, uma vez que permite a identifica&ccedil;&atilde;o dos principais pontos que direcionar&atilde;o as condutas nutricionais dentro de um contexto que compreende a interconex&atilde;o entre os sistemas org&acirc;nicos e suas vias metab&oacute;licas, considerando a condi&ccedil;&atilde;o cl&iacute;nica e a individualidade bioqu&iacute;mica do paciente para o restabelecimento do equil&iacute;brio destes sistemas com a corre&ccedil;&atilde;o das poss&iacute;veis defici&ecirc;ncias nutricionais.</p>     
<p><b>Ferramentas da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional e tratamento nutricional</b></p>     <p>Al&eacute;m da aplica&ccedil;&atilde;o da teia das interconex&otilde;es metab&oacute;licas e de uma anamnese com abordagem de funcionamento org&acirc;nico associada a fatores end&oacute;genos e ex&oacute;genos, a nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional ainda utiliza ferramentas espec&iacute;ficas para a avalia&ccedil;&atilde;o da ingest&atilde;o alimentar (recordat&oacute;rio alimentar), da disbiose (desequil&iacute;brio da microbiota intestinal), do processo de destoxifica&ccedil;&atilde;o, de hipersensibilidades alimentares, do equil&iacute;brio &aacute;cido-base e de infe&ccedil;&atilde;o f&uacute;ngica (27), complementadas pela investiga&ccedil;&atilde;o gen&eacute;tica (doen&ccedil;as e polimorfismos) e de exames laboratoriais para corroborar os sinais e sintomas (29,30) apresentados. Estes dados direcionar&atilde;o um plano alimentar individualizado e equilibrado em macronutrientes, micronutrientes e compostos bioativos indispens&aacute;veis para recupera&ccedil;&atilde;o plena do paciente com vitalidade positiva (31). O plano alimentar do paciente ainda engloba a aplica&ccedil;&atilde;o de um programa denominado &ldquo;6Rs&rdquo; (Remover, Recolocar, Reinocular, Reparar, Reequilibrar e Reavaliar) (32), uma conduta focalizada na modula&ccedil;&atilde;o dos desequil&iacute;brios do trato gastrointestinal (TGI), diretamente relacionados com v&aacute;rias doen&ccedil;as sist&eacute;micas (33). Este programa sumariza interconex&otilde;es bioqu&iacute;micas e fisiol&oacute;gicas associadas ao TGI, direcionando (32): a remo&ccedil;&atilde;o de pat&oacute;genos, alergenos alimentares, xenobi&oacute;ticos, poluentes e fatores estressantes; o suporte para recolocar &aacute;cido clor&iacute;drico, enzimas digestivas, fatores intr&iacute;nsecos e fibras, e para reinocular probi&oacute;ticos e prebi&oacute;ticos; a repara&ccedil;&atilde;o da mucosa gastrointestinal com dieta n&atilde;o irritativa e hipoalerg&eacute;nica e com nutrientes envolvidos na restaura&ccedil;&atilde;o da fun&ccedil;&atilde;o celular; o reequil&iacute;brio de h&aacute;bitos saud&aacute;veis, com suporte para restaurar a homeostase do paciente; e, por fim, a reavalia&ccedil;&atilde;o dos objetivos tra&ccedil;ados e alcan&ccedil;ados e das condutas nutricionais, garantindo a manuten&ccedil;&atilde;o de sa&uacute;de plena. Quando necess&aacute;rio, s&atilde;o prescritas suplementa&ccedil;&otilde;es nutricionais para complementar o plano alimentar, respeitando as necessidades individuais do paciente, a biodisponibilidade e intera&ccedil;&atilde;o entre os nutrientes (34), a legisla&ccedil;&atilde;o vigente e os princ&iacute;pios da&nbsp;Dietary Reference Intake&nbsp;(DRI) (35).</p>     <p><b>Estudo de caso: interven&ccedil;&atilde;o nutricional baseada nos princ&iacute;pios da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional</b></p>     <p>Os pacientes foram acompanhados por 30 dias, sendo submetidos a um tratamento nutricional baseado nos princ&iacute;pios e conceitos da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional anteriormente referidos. Os par&acirc;metros bioqu&iacute;micos de glicemia, CT, LDL-colesterol, HDL-colesterol, TG e antropom&eacute;tricos de peso, IMC, circunfer&ecirc;ncia abdominal foram mensurados antes e ap&oacute;s o tratamento nutricional (<a href ="/img/revistas/apn/n7/n7a06t1.jpg">Tabela 1</a>). O tratamento nutricional dos pacientes, baseado nos princ&iacute;pios e conceitos da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional citados anteriormente, entre os quais a interven&ccedil;&atilde;o individualizada no contexto da sua hist&oacute;ria de vida, o meio onde vive, h&aacute;bitos alimentares, presen&ccedil;a de sinais e sintomas e necessidades nutricionais individuais (<a href ="/img/revistas/apn/n7/n7a06f2.jpg">Figura 2</a>), promoveu a diminui&ccedil;&atilde;o&nbsp;da glicemia, CT, LDL-colesterol (p&le; 0.05) e de TG (p&lt; 0.01) (<a href ="/img/revistas/apn/n7/n7a06t1.jpg">Tabela 1</a>).&nbsp;Quanto &agrave;s medidas de peso, CA e c&aacute;lculo de IMC, mensurados antes e ap&oacute;s interven&ccedil;&atilde;o nutricional, n&atilde;o mostraram diferen&ccedil;a estat&iacute;stica, mesmo com dados diminu&iacute;dos, o que requer maior tempo de acompanhamento para estas vari&aacute;veis (<a href ="/img/revistas/apn/n7/n7a06t1.jpg">Tabela 1</a>). Marques et al. (36) em seu estudo de interven&ccedil;&atilde;o terap&ecirc;utica aberto, com dura&ccedil;&atilde;o de 90 dias (n=14), corroboram alguns dos princ&iacute;pios da nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional ao mostrarem redu&ccedil;&atilde;o significante de peso, IMC e medidas corporais (soma das dobras cut&acirc;neas, circunfer&ecirc;ncias de cintura e abd&oacute;men, percentual de massa magra e gordura) com o seguimento de um padr&atilde;o diet&eacute;tico baseado na manuten&ccedil;&atilde;o do equil&iacute;brio nutricional com a ingest&atilde;o de alimentos frescos (predom&iacute;nio de gr&atilde;os integrais, prote&iacute;nas animais e vegetais, verduras, legumes, frutas vermelhas e oleaginosas) juntamente com a redu&ccedil;&atilde;o no consumo de alimentos industrializados, com baixo teor de a&ccedil;&uacute;car, doces, gorduras trans e saturadas, exclus&atilde;o da ingest&atilde;o de &aacute;lcool.</p>     
<p><b>AN&Aacute;LISE CR&Iacute;TICA E CONCLUS&Otilde;ES</b></p>     <p>O acometimento de pacientes com algum tipo de DCNT est&aacute; associado a outros desequil&iacute;brios como aumento da inflama&ccedil;&atilde;o, altera&ccedil;&otilde;es metab&oacute;licas, respostas autoimunes desordenadas, d&eacute;fice energ&eacute;tico e defici&ecirc;ncias nutricionais, os quais podem estar relacionados a h&aacute;bitos alimentares e estado nutricional. Neste sentido, &eacute; evidente que uma das principais causas para a maioria das DCNT se enquadra no estilo de vida do indiv&iacute;duo, especialmente em rela&ccedil;&atilde;o &agrave;s escolhas alimentares (37-39). Dentro desta perspetiva e considerando a teia das interconex&otilde;es metab&oacute;licas, destaca-se o ponto central do indiv&iacute;duo, no qual os aspetos mentais, emocionais e espirituais podem influenciar de maneira substancial o equil&iacute;brio funcional de todos os sistemas org&acirc;nicos. Diferentes autores reportam um aumento na sobrecarga emocional e stress nos dias atuais (40, 41), condi&ccedil;&atilde;o que implica na desregula&ccedil;&atilde;o do eixo hipot&aacute;lamo-hip&oacute;fise-adrenal e altera os n&iacute;veis de cortisol (42, 43). A eleva&ccedil;&atilde;o cr&oacute;nica dos n&iacute;veis desta hormona, por sua vez, poder&aacute; refletir em desequil&iacute;brios sist&eacute;micos. O sistema de defesa e reparo pode impactar negativamente sobre o microbioma intestinal humano e sistema imunol&oacute;gico, como consequ&ecirc;ncia alterar respostas inflamat&oacute;rias por meio do aumento de citocinas pr&oacute;-inflamat&oacute;rias (como IL-1, IL-6 e TNF-alfa) (44), e interferir no sistema de energia por afetar vias bioqu&iacute;micas envolvidas no metabolismo energ&eacute;tico, defesa antioxidante e fun&ccedil;&atilde;o mitocondrial, pontos relevantes na obesidade e s&iacute;ndrome metab&oacute;lica (45). No sistema de assimila&ccedil;&atilde;o, o stress e/ou sobrecarga emocional podem predispor dist&uacute;rbios g&aacute;stricos e intestinais com altera&ccedil;&atilde;o de microbioma (46,47), ao prejudicar diretamente a digest&atilde;o, absor&ccedil;&atilde;o, disponibilidade de nutrientes e compostos ativos, aumentando os riscos de defici&ecirc;ncias nutricionais; al&eacute;m disso, favorece a passagem de mol&eacute;culas mal digeridas para o intestino e circula&ccedil;&atilde;o sangu&iacute;nea, impactando em rea&ccedil;&otilde;es imunol&oacute;gicas que podem prejudicar o sistema de integridade estrutural de ossos, articula&ccedil;&otilde;es e m&uacute;sculos (27). Esta condi&ccedil;&atilde;o tamb&eacute;m pode comprometer o funcionamento hep&aacute;tico (47), interferindo no sistema de biotransforma&ccedil;&atilde;o e elimina&ccedil;&atilde;o de xenobi&oacute;ticos, metais pesados, carcin&oacute;genos e toxinas, o que fragiliza as fun&ccedil;&otilde;es dos demais sistemas e acarreta maior susceptibilidade a doen&ccedil;as hep&aacute;ticas, cancro, obesidade entre outras (48). O cortisol em n&iacute;veis elevados, devido a sua capacidade de afetar diferentes vias bioqu&iacute;micas, pode relacionar-se com o sistema de transporte por representar um risco cardiovascular (10) e, ainda, com o sistema de comunica&ccedil;&atilde;o, desregulando a transmiss&atilde;o e a responsividade de componentes imunol&oacute;gicos, hormonais e neurotransmissores impactando sobre o controlo da mente e emo&ccedil;&otilde;es (49, 50), formando um ciclo vicioso. Os resultados do estudo de caso apontaram que pacientes abordados desta forma alcan&ccedil;aram resultados de melhora com a interven&ccedil;&atilde;o de curto per&iacute;odo de tempo. Portanto, fica evidente a import&acirc;ncia de se considerar na avalia&ccedil;&atilde;o e diagn&oacute;stico nutricional os aspetos inerentes &agrave; biologia de sistemas e &agrave; individualidade gen&eacute;tica e bioqu&iacute;mica, pois permitem identificar os caminhos moleculares que levam &agrave; sa&uacute;de ou &agrave; doen&ccedil;a, direcionando o tratamento nutricional funcional, descrito anteriormente, para a obten&ccedil;&atilde;o da sa&uacute;de como vitalidade positiva. Ao considerar a escassez de publica&ccedil;&otilde;es sobre a nutri&ccedil;&atilde;o funcional, mais ensaios cl&iacute;nicos e estudos populacionais precisam ser conduzidos para a confirma&ccedil;&atilde;o dos resultados apresentados com esta abordagem.</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><b>REFER&Ecirc;NCIAS BIBLIOGR&Aacute;FICAS</b></p>     <!-- ref --><br> 1.
