O papel da alimentação, nomeadamente dos laticínios, na acne é incerto.  OBJETIVOS: Com esta revisão pretende-se determinar se existe relação entre o consumo de produtos lácteos e a acne.  METODOLOGIA: Pesquisa sistemática não quantitativa (revisão baseada em evidência) da evidência científica publicada entre 2010 e 2021 em bases de dados electrónicas, utilizando os termos MeSH &#8220;Dairy Products&#8221; ou &#8220;Milk&#8221; ou &#8220;Cheese&#8221; ou &#8220;Yogurt&#8221; e &#8220;Acne Vulgaris" e &#8220;Humans&#8221;.  RESULTADOS: Encontraram-se 36 artigos, dos quais sete cumpriram os critérios de inclusão: uma recomendação, duas Revisões Sistemáticas com Meta-análise, um estudo observacional transversal e três estudos caso-controlo. Três artigos mostraram uma associação entre o consumo de laticínios (sem discriminação) e acne. Cinco dos seis artigos que avaliaram o consumo de leite de forma individualizada mostraram uma associação entre o consumo de leite e a presença de acne. Dos quatro artigos que avaliaram o consumo de iogurte de forma isolada, apenas um encontrou uma associação com desenvolvimento de acne. A evidência foi contraditória no caso do queijo.  CONCLUSÕES: Parece existir uma associação entre o consumo de leite e desenvolvimento de acne. Porém, a evidência é inconsistente relativamente a outros derivados do leite pelo que são necessários mais estudos que clarifiquem esta relação.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  INTRODUCTION: Acne is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that has a high prevalence and a strong psychosocial impact. The role of diet, specially dairy products, in acne is uncertain.  OBJECTIVES: With this review we intend to determine if there is an association between dairy products&#8217; consumption and acne.  METHODOLOGY: Search for scientific evidence published between 2010 and 2021 in electronic databases using the MeSH terms &#8220;Dairy Products&#8221; or &#8220;Milk&#8221; or &#8220;Cheese&#8221; or &#8220;Yogurt&#8221; and &#8220;Acne Vulgaris" and &#8220;Humans&#8221;.  RESULTS: We obtained 36 articles, seven that accomplished the inclusion criteria: one guideline, two systematic reviews with metanalysis, one cross-sectional study and three case control studies. Three studies found an association between acne and unspecified dairy consumption. Five out of six studies that studied milk consumption showed that it was associated with acne. Only one out of four studies that studied yogurt consumption found an acne-milk association. Evidence is controversial as to cheese.  CONCLUSIONS: To summarize, there seems to be an association between milk consumption and acne development. However, the evidence is controversial as to other dairy products. Further studies are needed to clarify this relationship.]]></p></abstract>
