OBJETIVOS:  Avaliar as alterações do estilo de vida de estudantes do 3.º ano do ensino básico dos Agrupamentos de Escolas do concelho do Marco de Canaveses no segundo confinamento, comparativamente ao período de aulas presenciais.  METODOLOGIA:  Estudo observacional descritivo transversal aplicado a uma amostra de conveniência de 210 estudantes com idade média de 8 anos (dp 0,51), através do autopreenchimento de um questionário online pelos Encarregados de Educação, entre 29 de abril e 18 de junho. O questionário era constituído por sete grupos: 1) questões sociodemográficas, 2) questões gerais sobre os hábitos alimentares, estado nutricional e atividade física; 3) preocupação do encarregado de educação sobre o estilo de vida da criança; 4) alterações emocionais; 5) frequência do consumo alimentar; 6) ocorrência de episódios de ingestão emocional; 7) prática de atividade física.  RESULTADOS:  Segundo o reportado pelos Encarregados de Educação, 36,7% das crianças aumentaram a ingestão alimentar, 56,2% petiscaram mais alimentos, 58,6% diminuíram a atividade física e 32,4% aumentaram de peso no segundo confinamento. Os estudantes que aumentaram de peso apresentaram um aumento da ingestão alimentar e da frequência do ato de petiscar e uma diminuição da prática de atividade física. Os educandos, cujos pais se sentem capazes de transmitir hábitos alimentares saudáveis, aumentaram o consumo de hortícolas e diminuíram o consumo de arroz/massa/batata e doces. Valores superiores de sobreingestão emocional, associaram-se a maior ingestão alimentar, maior frequência do ato de petiscar e aumento de peso.  CONCLUSÕES: Cerca de metade das crianças alterou negativamente o estilo de vida em termos de alimentação e atividade física, e cerca de um terço aumentou de peso. O incentivo e adoção de estilos de vida saudáveis pelos encarregados de educação influenciaram a ingestão alimentar das crianças.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  INTRODUCTION:  Confinement due to COVID-19 pandemic caused changes in lifestyles, namely on children's eating habits and physical activity. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate lifestyle changes in students from the 3rd year of basic education of schools from Marco de Canaveses county, during the second confinement, compared to the period of traditional classroom lessons.  METHODOLOGY:  Descriptive observational cross-sectional study applied to a convenience sample of the 210 students, with a mean age of 8 years (sd 0.51), through the self-completion of an online questionnaire by the guardians, between April 29th and June 18th. The questionnaire consisted of seven groups: 1) sociodemographic questions, 2) general questions about eating habits, nutritional status and physical activity; 3) guardians concerns about the child's lifestyle; 4) emotional changes; 5) frequency of food consumption; occurrence of episodes of emotional intake; and 7) practice of physical activity.  RESULTS:  As reported by the guardians, 36.7% of children increased their food intake, 56.2% increased snacks consumption, 58.6% decreased physical activity and 32.4% increased weight during the second confinement. Students who gained weight had a higher food intake and frequency of snacking and lower physical activity. Students, whose parents feel able to transmit healthy eating habits, increased their consumption of vegetables and decreased their consumption of rice/pasta/potatoes and sweets. Higher values of emotional overingestion were associated with higher food intake, higher frequency of snacking and weight gain.  CONCLUSIONS:  About half of the sample negatively altered their lifestyle in terms of diet and physical activity, and about a third gained weight. The encouragement and adoption of healthy lifestyles by guardians influenced the children's food intake.]]></p></abstract>
