São escassos os documentos que se encontram sobre o tema e, na sua maioria, foram redigidos por Conservadores-Restauradores e não por Médicos do Trabalho ou Técnicos de Segurança. Pretende-se com este trabalho resumir o que de mais pertinente se publicou sobre esta área.  Metodologia: Foi realizada uma Scopping Review em novembro de 2018, utilizando os motores de busca da Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, Academic Search Complete, CINALH, Med Line, Database of Abstracts and Reviews, Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Nursing and Allied Health Collection, MedicLatina e RCAAP.  Conteúdo/ Resultados: Encontraram-se dados relativos aos principais fatores de risco, com particular destaque para os agentes químicos, nomeadamente pigmentos (chumbo, arsénio, mercúrio, crómio, cádmio, zinco), aglutinantes/ vernizes/ adesivos e solventes, bem como pesticidas. Não foram esquecidas as poeiras/ inalação de partículas; bem como eventual contato com bactérias, fungos, leveduras e insetos; tal como radiações diversas; questões relativas à visão (iluminância, contraste, esforço visual) e risco de incêndio/ explosão, secundários a alguns agentes químicos. Foram também descritas algumas doenças profissionais, bem como medidas de proteção coletivas e individuais que se consideram adequadas.  Discussão: Ainda que existam muito poucos dados e documentos publicados relativos aos riscos/ fatores de risco entre Conservadores-Restauradores, estes estão melhor descritos, por vezes, para outras classes profissionais que partilham alguns fatores de risco, sendo de realçar os próprios artistas que elaboraram diversos tipos de peças de arte, no presente e passado (dado existirem nas peças a restaurar materiais quase não usados ou até proibidos desde algumas décadas).  Conclusões e Limitações: Não se encontraram dados relevantes sobre doseamento dos agentes químicos mais tóxicos nos ambientes de trabalho da Conservação e Restauro em geral e muito menos nos diversos subsetores (pintura, escultura, vidro, pedra, têxtil, joias) ou doseamentos séricos dessas mesmas substâncias (quando aplicável) numa amostra geral de profissionais do setor, expostos a esses agentes, muito menos com destaque a cada um dos subsetores atrás mencionados. De igual forma, não foi encontrada qualquer avaliação de risco, em função dos doseamentos obtidos e restante análise ao posto de trabalho, de forma a conseguir hierarquizar prioridades de intervenção e reavaliação da eficácia destas últimas, para determinar os passos seguintes a nível de gestão do risco ocupacional. Desde longa data que são conhecidos malefícios concretos e sérios associados a alguns dos fatores de risco existentes nesta área. Contudo, este setor é ainda muito pouco estudado em contexto de Saúde Ocupacional. Seria muito pertinente que surgissem equipas motivadas para estudar esta área e colmatar parte das limitações encontradas, não desenvolvidas na literatura internacional.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction and objectives: The Conservation- Restoration sector is reasonably recent and has not yet received the attention of Occupational Health. The documents found on the subject, for the most part, were written by Conservators- Restorers and not by Occupational Doctors or Security Technicians. This paper is intended to summarize the most pertinent information on this area.  Methodology: This is a Scoping Review, initiated in November 2018, in the following databases: Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, Academic Search Complete, CINALH, Medline, Database of Abstracts and Reviews, Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Nursing and Allied Health Collection, MedicLatina and RCAAP.  Content/ Results: This document summarizes data on the main risk factors, with emphasis on chemical agents such as pigments (lead, arsenic, mercury, chromium, cadmium, zinc), binders/ varnishes/ adhesives and solvents, as well as pesticides. The dust/ inhalation of particles has not been forgotten; as well as possible contact with bacteria, fungi, yeasts and insects; such as various radiations; illuminance, contrast, visual effort and risk of fire/ explosion, secondary to some chemical agents. Some occupational diseases, as well as collective and individual protection measures considered appropriate, have also been described.  Discussion: Although there are very few published data and documents on risk/ risk factors among Conservators-Restorers, these are sometimes best described for other professional classes that share some risk factors, like the artists themselves, who drew up various types of art, in the present and past (because in the pieces to restore there are materials almost unused now or even prohibited for several decades).  Conclusions and Limitations: No relevant data were found on the determination of the most toxic chemical agents in the Conservation-Restoration workplaces in general, much less in the various subsectors (painting, sculpture, glass, stone, textiles, jewelry) or serum assays of these same substances (when applicable) in a general sample of professionals in the sector exposed to these agents, much less with emphasis on each of the subsectors mentioned above. Likewise, no risk assessment was found in this sector, based on the dosages obtained and the rest of the analysis, to prioritize intervention and reevaluate the effectiveness of the latter, to determine the next steps to be taken, at occupational risk management level. It has long been known that concrete and serious harm is associated with some of the risk factors in this area. However, this sector is still very little studied in the context of Occupational Health. It would be very pertinent to have motivated teams to study this area and to fill some of the limitations found, not developed in the international literature.]]></p></abstract>
