<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2183-84532025000100200&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2183-84532025000100200&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.pt/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2183-84532025000100200&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO  Introdução Os distúrbios musculoesqueléticos relacionados ao trabalho são um problema significativo de saúde ocupacional, especialmente entre assistentes técnicos hospitalares, cujas tarefas envolvem movimentos repetitivos, posturas estáticas prolongadas. Embora programas de exercício no local de trabalho tenham demonstrado benefícios, a falta de personalização e implementação consistente limita sua eficácia a longo prazo.  Objetivo Avaliar a eficácia de um programa estruturado de exercícios laborais na redução da dor musculoesquelética e na melhoria da funcionalidade entre assistentes técnicos hospitalares.  Métodos Foi realizado um estudo de intervenção prospetivo com 18 assistentes técnicos hospitalares que participaram de um programa de exercícios laborais de cinco semanas, com 15 sessões. O programa incluiu exercícios de resistência progressiva, focados nas regiões corporais mais afetadas dos trabalhadores. Os níveis de dor e funcionalidade foram avaliados antes e após a intervenção, utilizando o Questionário Nórdico Musculoesquelético. O teste de Wilcoxon foi aplicado para análise estatística das alterações na intensidade da dor, pré e pós Programa de Exercício Laboral.  Resultados A intervenção resultou na redução significativa (p &lt; 0.05) da dor em diversas regiões do corpo, nomeadamente no pescoço (72,2% para 39%), ombros (83,3% para 33%), mãos/punhos (66,6% para 22%), região lombar (66,6% para 44%) e ancas (61,1% para 28%). Além disso, os participantes relataram melhora na funcionalidade em atividades diárias e laborais. A taxa de adesão foi elevada (94,7%), demonstrando a viabilidade do programa no ambiente hospitalar.  Conclusão Um programa estruturado de exercícios laborais reduz significativamente a dor musculoesquelética e melhora a funcionalidade de assistentes técnicos hospitalares. Estes achados reforçam a importância da incorporação de intervenções direcionadas em estratégias de saúde ocupacional. Estudos futuros devem investigar a manutenção dos benefícios destas estratégias a longo prazo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction Work-related musculoskeletal disorders are a major occupational health concern, particularly among hospital technical assistants, whose tasks involve repetitive movements, prolonged static postures. While workplace exercise programs have demonstrated benefits, many lack customization and consistent implementation, limiting their long-term effectiveness.  Objective This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured workplace exercise program in reducing musculoskeletal pain and improving functionality among hospital technical assistants.  Methods We conducted a prospective interventional study with 18 hospital technical assistants who participated in a five-week, 15-session workplace exercise program. The program included progressive resistance exercises targeting common pain-prone areas. Pain levels and functionality were assessed preand post-intervention using the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire. The Wilcoxon test was applied for the statistical analysis of changes in pain intensity before and after the workplace exercise intervention program.  Results The intervention led to significant reductions in musculoskeletal pain across multiple body regions. The most notable improvements were observed in the shoulders (83.3% to 33%), neck (72.2% to 39%), hands/wrists (66.6% to 22%), hips (61.1% to 28%), and lower back (66.6% to 44%). Participants also reported increased functionality in daily and occupational activities. Program adherence was high (94.7%), reinforcing its feasibility in a hospital setting.  Conclusion A structured workplace exercise program significantly reduces musculoskeletal pain and enhances functionality among hospital technical assistants. These findings support the integration of targeted exercise interventions into occupational health strategies. Further studies should explore the long-term sustainability of these benefits.]]></p></abstract>
