Com esta revisão pretendeu-se compactar os dados mais relevantes publicados sobre o tema, de forma a contribuir para um melhor desempenho destes profissionais e potenciar as condições de trabalho dos funcionários envolvidos.  Metodologia Trata-se de uma Revisão Bibliográfica, iniciada através de uma pesquisa realizada em maio de 2024 nas bases de dados &#8220;CINALH plus with full text, Medline with full text, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Methodology Register, Nursing and Allied Health Collection: comprehensive, MedicLatina e RCAAP&#8221;.  Conteúdo De forma generalista, as principais tarefas deste setor podem ser estruturadas em manutenção global (maquinaria e instalações/estrutura); higienização (instalações, máquinas e gado); recolha do leite; alimentação do gado; armazenamento de produtos utilizados; inseminação artificial e tratamentos veterinários. Nas seções seguintes registam-se algumas particularidades do gado bovino, solo e instalações; bem como fatores de risco/riscos laborais e medidas de proteção coletiva e individual (com enfase nos agentes biológico e químicos, poeiras, ruído, posturas forçadas/mantidas, cargas, movimentos repetitivos; quedas (em altura e ao mesmo nível), eletricidade, iluminância e espaço confinado); bem como algumas noções de sinistralidade neste setor.  Discussão e Conclusões Trata-se de um setor profissional que, ainda que não inclua uma grande variedade de tarefas, possuiu fatores de risco/riscos laborais diversificados e, por vezes, relevantes; podendo a sinistralidade também ser razoavelmente frequente e/ou grave. Seria aprazível que algumas equipas de Saúde e Segurança no Trabalho a exercer no setor, conseguissem recolher dados que lhes permitissem caraterizar melhor esta área profissional, gerando informação com relevância suficiente para ser publicada e fazer evoluir o conhecimento geral.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction/framework/objectives There are several companies in our country dedicated to this sector; however, not all Health and Safety professionals have practical or theoretical experience in this professional area. This review aimed to summarize the most relevant data published on the subject, in order to contribute to a better performance of these professionals and enhance the working conditions of the employees involved.  Methodology This is a Bibliographic Review, initiated through a search carried out in May 2024 in the databases &#8220;CINALH plus with full text, Medline with full text, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Methodology Register, Nursing and Allied Health Collection: comprehensive, MedicLatina and RCAAP&#8221;.  Content In general terms, the main tasks of this sector can be structured as global maintenance (machinery and facilities/structure); sanitation (facilities, machinery and livestock); milk collection; cattle feeding; storage of used products; artificial insemination and veterinary treatments. The following sections record some particularities of cattle, soil and facilities; as well as risk factors/occupational hazards and collective and individual protection measures (with emphasis on biological and chemical agents, dust, noise, forced/maintained postures, loads, repetitive movements; falls (from height and at the same level), electricity, lighting and confined spaces); as well as some notions of accidents in this sector.  Discussion and Conclusions This is a professional sector that, although it does not include a wide variety of tasks, has diverse and sometimes relevant risk factors/occupational hazards; accidents can also be reasonably frequent and/or serious. It would be nice if some Occupational Health and Safety teams working in the sector were able to collect data that would allow them to better characterize this professional area, generating relevant information to be published and to advance general knowledge.]]></p></abstract>
