Foi objetivo desta pesquisa tentar resumir o que de mais pertinente se publicou sobre estas temáticas, de forma a proporcionar alguns dados úteis a nível prático, para a melhoria das condições de trabalho e do desempenho dos Médico/Enfermeiro e Técnico de Segurança no Trabalho.  Metodologia: Trata-se de uma Revisão Bibliográfica, iniciada através de uma pesquisa realizada em maio de 2024 nas bases de dados &#8220;CINALH plus with full text, Medline with full text, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Methodology Register, Nursing and Allied Health Collection: comprehensive, MedicLatina e RCAAP&#8221;.  Conteúdo: O envelhecimento da população implicará que os trabalhadores também sejam mais idosos; logo, as doenças crónicas associadas à idade serão cada vez mais relevantes em contexto ocupacional e a nível de qualidade de vida. Quantas mais comorbilidades existirem, maior é a probabilidade de deixar de trabalhar. Mais patologias crónicas nos trabalhadores associam-se a reformas antecipadas, sobretudo se as condições de trabalho forem más. Dentro destas, as alterações reumatológicas são razoavelmente prevalentes. O estudo dos fatores que ajudarão e/ou atrapalharão a reabilitação profissional de indivíduos com alterações reumatológicas, potenciará a satisfação, produtividade e qualidade de vida. A bibliografia consultada destacou sobretudo a (osteo)artrite, artrite reumatoide, artrite psoriática, espondiloartrite/espondilite anquilosante.  Discussão e Conclusões: A generalidade das patologias reumatológicas tem capacidade para diminuir a capacidade de trabalho (presenteismo, absentismo, certificados de incapacidade temporária) ou até implicar desemprego/reforma precoce. Seria interessante conhecer melhor a realidade portuguesa a nível de incidências/prevalências de doenças reumatológicas, desempenho/produtividade, sinistralidade; bem como medidas de proteção coletivas e individuais colocadas em prática e respetivas conclusões.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction/background/objectives: There are several rheumatological pathologies that can worsen with working conditions and/or interfere with professional performance. The aim of this research was to try to summarize the most relevant publications on these topics, in order to provide some useful data at a practical level, for improving the working conditions and performance of Doctors/Nurses and Occupational Safety Technicians.  Methodology: This is a Literature Review, initiated through a search carried out in May 2024 in the databases &#8220;CINALH plus with full text, Medline with full text, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Methodology Register, Nursing and Allied Health Collection: comprehensive, MedicLatina and RCAAP&#8221;.  Content: The aging of the population will mean that workers will also be older. Therefore, chronic diseases associated with age will be increasingly relevant in the occupational context and in terms of quality of life. The more comorbidities there are, the greater the likelihood of stop working. More chronic pathologies in workers are associated with early retirement, especially if working conditions are poor. Among these, rheumatological disorders are reasonably prevalent. The study of the factors that will help and/or hinder the professional rehabilitation of individuals with rheumatological disorders will enhance satisfaction, productivity and quality of life. The bibliography consulted highlighted (osteo)arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, spondyloarthritis/ankylosing spondylitis).  Discussion and Conclusions: Most rheumatological pathologies can reduce work capacity (presenteeism, absenteeism, temporary incapacity certificates) or even lead to unemployment/early retirement. It would be interesting to learn more about the Portuguese reality in terms of incidence/prevalence, performance/productivity, accident rates; as well as collective and individual protection measures put into practice and their respective conclusions.]]></p></abstract>
