</abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en">
Abstract In October of 1964, the Time Magazine coined the term Op Art. Op Art, also called Optical Art is characterized by the use of geometric patterns and distortions that generates specific perceptual responses, having dynamic qualities which provoke optical illusions and movement sensations. From the mid-1960s to nowadays, Op Art's popularity has spread into objects of everyday life, influencing the product design. Objects that stimulate our senses, involve the own body which feels and responds to the produced stimuli, become more appealing, more communicative. Through Op Art this is achieved. In this article, Op Art is contextualized, the optical effects of Op Art used by product designers are described and analysed, by using visual examples.
</abstract>
