Methods: A random sample of 252 children (113 girls; 139 boys) attending the secondary school, with an average age of 15.27 years (SD = 1.925) that completed the Portuguese PSQI (P-PSQI). The factor structure of the data was evaluated using confirmatory factor analysis. Results: Once the &#8220;use of sleep medication&#8221; component was removed from the model a good overall fit to the data was found (&#967;2/df = 1.194, GFI = .983, AGFI = .959, CFI = .980, RMSEA = .029 [.001- .076] AICsat = 42.0). These results confirm the theoretical strength of PSQI; however, we were unable to confirm the seven-factor structure proposed in the original version. Conclusions: The PSQI-P has good psychometric properties and is suitable for use in nomothetic research on sleep quality in Portuguese adolescents.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO O objetivo do presente estudo foi determinar a confiabilidade e a validade fatorial de uma versão em português do Índice de Qualidade do Sono de Pittsburgh - PSQI (Buysse, Reynolds III, Monk, Berman, &amp; Kupfer, 1989). Métodos: uma amostra aleatória de 252 crianças (113 meninas, 139 meninos) que frequentavam o ensino secundário, com uma média de idade de 15.27 anos (SD = 1.925) que completaram o PSQI em português (P-PSQI). A estrutura fatorial dos dados foi avaliada utilizando análise fatorial confirmatória. Resultados: Uma vez que o componente uso de medicação de sono foi removido do modelo, foi encontrado um bom ajuste global para os dados (&#967;2/df = 1.194, GFI = .983, AGFI = .959, CFI = .980, RMSEA = .029 [.001- .076] AICsat = 42.0). Esses resultados confirmam a força teórica do PSQI; No entanto, não foi possível confirmar a estrutura de sete fatores tal como proposta na versão original da escala. Conclusões: O PSQI-P tem boas propriedades psicométricas e é adequado para uso na pesquisa nomotética sobre a qualidade do sono em adolescentes portugueses.]]></p></abstract>
