Abstract

VARELA-LOSADA, Mercedes; ARIAS-CORREA, Azucena  and  VEGA-MARCOTE, Pedro. Educate for change and sustainability: Evaluation of an experiential learning proposal to train teachers in initial training. Rev. Port. de Educação [online]. 2019, vol.32, n.2, pp.57-73. ISSN 0871-9187.  https://doi.org/10.21814/rpe.15303.

One of the main challenges that education must face is the search for Sustainability. And, in this process, the teaching staff is a fundamental pillar. Therefore, an educational proposal of initial teacher training based on experimentation and analysis of a learning cycle around the climate change socio-environmental problem is presented. For its evaluation, a mixed methodology was used. The results suggest that this type of practice can contribute to improve the commitment of the future teachers with an Environmental Education oriented towards Sustainability and critical with the current development model, allowing the construction of an educational framework based on globalized and participatory methodologies, as well as to favor the acquisition of teaching competences.
