The purpose of this article is to analyse the feminine political representation in the Lisbon’s City Council (1976-2021). Following the Revolution of 25 April 1974, the political participation of all women’s has become effective legal and institutional.

In 1976 occurred the first local suffrage in which Portuguese women were able to elect and be elected to local power. In this work we study female political representation in the Municipality of Lisbon, aiming to contribute to reflection and discussion on equality in political decision-making in local government in the democratic period.
