ICTs have transformed education by facilitating access to information and communication, impacting media and information literacy (MAI). However, the educational system faces challenges in adapting to the digital evolution, which requires pedagogical innovations and training in the effective use of ICT. This research, part of a doctoral study, employs a quantitative-qualitative approach, applying theoretical and empirical methods in a descriptive, longitudinal and field analysis. It uses validated instruments to investigate communication students in Ecuador and El Salvador, applying comparative statistical methods to identify significant differences in the integration of ICTs in learning. The findings reveal that, despite the availability of technology, its educational application remains a challenge. The crucial role of teachers in the effective integration of ICTs in the curriculum is highlighted, fostering AMI skills to prepare students for a digitalized world.
