Introduction:
This study addresses the meanings attributed by the nursing team at the Psychosocial Care Center to their care practices, highlighting the leading role of the patient as the core of therapeutic actions. Within the context of the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform, a gap in the literature is identified regarding the operationalization of this leading role of the patient in the daily practices of nursing, revealing challenges and possibilities for person-centered care.
Objective:
To explore the meanings attributed by the nursing team to their daily practices in the collective construction of person-centered psychosocial care.
Method:
Qualitative study, based on the Social Constructionism. Sixteen members of the nursing team from two mental health services in the city of Rio de Janeiro participated in the study. The data collected in the interviews and observation were organized in the Nvivo Software and analyzed by thematic analysis.
Results:
Nursing produces meanings for the leading role of the patient in the psychosocial Rehabilitation Center. It is characterized by: uniqueness of nursing care through night eyes; existential bravery of the nursing team to invest in the appreciation of subjectivity and of the patient's voice as produce the leading role of the patient and freedoms.
Conclusion:
The Nursing team perceives its actions in psychosocial rehabilitation care in a way that allows the Leading role of the patient.
