Scope and policy

The Journal of Nursing Referência  is a peer reviewed scientific journal, edited by the Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing. This Research Unit is hosted by the Nursing School of Coimbra and accredited by the Foundation for Science and Technology.

The objective  of the journal is to disseminate scientific knowledge produced in the specific field of nursing science with an interdisciplinary approach encompassing education, life sciences and health sciences.

All  papers  are required to be scientifically relevant and original and to show a clear significance for the scientific progress, health promotion, health education, health care effectiveness and health professionals' decision making. More than 75% of the  articles  are published as scientific and original articles, less than 25% of the articles are Review papers (systematic review), theoretical papers and essays.

The  double-blind review process  includes 10 stages from submission to dissemination (Pre-analysis; Checklist; Peer review; article Management; technical and documentary Support; final Review; Translation; Layout and DOI Registration; HTML; Database Dissemination). The following documents are available to authors: checklist, Author's statement and critical analysis topics to help the writing of scientific papers according to its specific type. Reviewers can access evaluation systematic structures.

The  management of the review process  is fully automated. This allows an effective action in controlling, regulating and evaluating (authors, reviewers and article management).

The Journal has an  international scope  and is published in a  bilingual format  (the English version is required). It is directed at students, researchers and professionals from the life sciences, health sciences and education area.
