Abstract

MENDOZA, Mihaela Radulescu de Barrio de  and  AYALA, Judith Huancas. The real, the imaginary and the symbolic in the work of the Peruvian artist Sergio Zevallos. Estúdio [online]. 2020, vol.11, n.29, pp.126-134.  Epub Mar 31, 2020. ISSN 1647-6158.

This research focuses on the corporal representation of rebellion against the pressures and parameters that society establishes as a legiti mate framework for human behavior in the work of Peruvian artist Sergio Zevallos. The fragile body that Zevallos´s art exposes is immersed in sexual dissent, to overturn the psychic into the sociocultural. The embodied enunciation goes through the registers of the real, the imaginary and the symbolic to propose a new reading of topics such as religion, identity, gender, sexuality, politics.

Keywords : body; enunciation; dissent; presence; memory.
