This article reflects on the importance of literature in the painting of Álvaro Lapa, trying to show how writing across with the image can become a strategy of 'corruption' of both codes, perverting, simultaneously, the rules of mimicry image and meaning of the text, highlighting thereby polysemies and enlarging the meaning possibilities that can achieve, ultimately, the incommunicability.
