FREIRE, Maria Raquel. Russia in the agenda of Biden’s Administration. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2021, n.69, pp.79-86. Epub 30-Abr-2021. ISSN 1645-9199. https://doi.org/10.23906/ri2021.69a04.
The international context in which the relationship between the United States and the Russian Federation has evolved has been marked by dissension and withdrawal, especially so since the war in Ukraine in 2014. The role of the OSCE has been hampered as far as its capacity for decision-making and acting is concerned. The EU has also been the cause of discontent in Russia, and NATO has been described by Russia as a threat to Russian security. As such, the Biden Administration takes office in a very difficult moment, even though the stance of former president Donald Trump was erratic and ambivalent regarding Moscow’s actions.
