^lpt^aO presente trabalho procura dar conta de diferentes interpretações associadas à estrutura ir + Infinitivo com Imperfeito no Português Europeu. Em particular, será feita uma distinção entre uma leitura quantificacional (habitual ou frequentativa), uma leitura prospetiva e uma leitura que designaremos como “hipotética”. Observaremos que a primeira destas interpretações exibe comportamentos linguísticos muito diversos das demais, nomeadamente no que respeita a restrições aspetuais e de agentividade e no que toca à possibilidade de projeção de sintagmas preposicionais encabeçados por a ou por para, pelo que argumentaremos em favor da existência de duas configurações autónomas para a sequência sob análise, uma em que ir preserva as suas propriedades lexicais de origem e outra em que funciona como um operador eminentemente temporal, podendo também veicular informação de natureza modal.^len^aThis paper aims to account for the different interpretations that can be associated to the structure ir (‘go') + Infinitive in European Portuguese. In particular, we will distinguish between a quantificational (habitual or frequentative) reading, a prospective reading and an interpretation that we will label “hypothetical”. We will see that the quantificational reading differs significantly in its linguistic behaviour from the other ones, namely in the aspectual and animacy restrictions it imposes and concerning the possibility of projection of a Prepositional Phrase headed by a (‘to') or para (‘to'). So we will argue in favour of the existence of two distinct configurations involving ir (‘go') + Infinitive in the Imperfect, one in which ir (‘go') retains its basic lexical properties and another in which it primarily behaves as a temporal operator, carrying also modal information.
