REZOLA, Maria Inácia. Contributes for the foreign policy of the democratic Portugal: the legacy of Medeiros Ferreira. []. , 49, pp.27-45. ISSN 1645-9199.

The downfall of Salazarism, on 25 April 1974, confronted Portugal with a set of new challenges. Along with the setting of a new internal order, Portugal's place in the world was also to be determined. This issue gains particular acuity at a time in which the closure of the Portuguese imperial cycle was being implemented. It is our aim to analyze José Medeiros Ferreira's contribution for the definition of the Portuguese democratic foreign policy focusing our attention on his performance as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the VI Provisional Government (1975-1976) and as Foreign Minister of the I Constitutional Government (1976-1977).
