O presente artigo visa explicar a forma como os partidos que integraram o VI Governo Provisório português - o Partido Comunista Português, o Partido Socialista e o Partido Popular Democrático - se posicionaram politicamente face ao reconhecimento do Governo angolano pelo Estado português, em fevereiro de 1976. Baseando-se nas atas do Conselho da Revolução e na imprensa periódica da época, o artigo argumenta que, durante o período em que a questão angolana foi discutida no seio do Estado português, o Partido Socialista e o Partido Popular Democrático influenciaram a tomada de decisão da legitimação do Governo angolano.

This article seeks to explain the way in which the parties that formed the VI Portuguese Provisional Government - the Portuguese Communist Party, the Socialist Party and the Popu- lar Democratic Party - positioned themselves politically regarding the recognition of the Angolan Government by the Portuguese state in February 1976. Based on the minutes of the Revolutionary Council and on the periodical press of the time during the period in which the Angolan issue was discussed within the Portuguese state, the Socialist Party and Popular Democratic Party influenced the decision to legitimize the Angolan Government.
