OLIVEIRA, Carina Freitas de et al. Global subjective assessment versus anthropometrical evaluation of patients with HIV. []. , 14, 1, pp.133-137. ISSN 1646-107X.

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is identified by the intense immunodepression of the host, caused by the human immunodeficiency virus. The objective was to analyze the result of the global subjective evaluation with the body mass index to obtain the nutritional diagnosis. The data of the global subjective evaluation were collected by the charts and immediately afterwards the anthropometric evaluation was evaluated, being composed by weight and height. The classification of the body mass index was 26.6% underweight, 53.4% normal and 20% overweight. When correlating ASG results with BMI, it is possible to observe that of the 70% of patients well nourished by ASG, 14% underweight, 57% normal, 28% overweight. The population corresponding to 30% of the sample for malnourished patients has a BMI classification divided into: low and normal. Analyzing this sample, we have 55% underweight and the other 45% normal. Although most of the patients were eutrophic according to the BMI, malnutrition was present in a considerable number of individuals, overcoming cases of overweight.
