In this article, it is our aim to analyse and discuss the presence of Geography (in a scientific and didactical way) in the study plans of the master course that produce teachers for 1st cycle of primary education and Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal in the 2nd cycle of primary education. It was checked all the websites of Portuguese higher education institutions that held this course, identifying and analyzing the curricular unities directly connected to “Geography” and to “Geography Didactics”. Because this is a course to prepare new teachers to teach History and Geography of Portugal, it is relevant to know the presence of Geography in these courses and discuss the importance of its reinforcement. We also aim to deepen the knowledge in Portugal about the way that Geography is present in the courses of teacher training to starting education levels, study area that is little developed in Portugal.
