Resumen

SA, Ana Paula dos Santos de. Todo lo cercano se aleja: Roberto Bolaño and Enrique Vila-Matas, from ‘autofiction’ to ‘biographical space’. Diacrítica [online]. 2014, vol.28, n.3, pp.201-228. ISSN 0807-8967.

This article aims to discuss Bolaño’s and Vila-Matas’ poetics concerning the concept of autofiction. Questioning the current relation of some of these authors’ titles with this narrative strategy, it develops a reflection about the relation between the novel and its exterior in contemporary times, emphasizing the implications of the relation established by each of the authors (the Chilean and the Catalan) with the media universe. In addition, through observing the outlines of their hybrid writing, it highlights their potential of using the "biographical space" (Arfuch, 2010), in order to explain one of the possible origins of the increasing assimilation, noted by some critics, of their characters to their own performances / biographies.

Palabras clave : Roberto Bolaño; Enrique Vila-Matas; Autofiction; Biographical space.
