Abstract

FREIRE, Priscila. “The Gender Problem” in Educational Policy: From international guidelines to the current framework in Brazil. Ex aequo [online]. 2022, n.46, pp.69-87. ISSN 0874-5560.  https://doi.org/10.22355/exaequo.2022.46.05.

This article focuses on the issue of gender in educational policy, and aims to analyze how conceptualizations of gender are present, at the macro level, in policy instruments for school education in Brazil and in international guidelines. It is a feminist approach that proposes a critical look at the discourse of public education policy. The analysis shows that gender equality, in both national and international contexts, faces macro-structural obstacles that privilege a masculinist and procapitalist perspective in school education.

Keywords : Gender; gender sensitivity; educational policy; Brazil; feminist criticism..
